Predicting marital blessing using day pillar 日柱看婚姻

In a Bazi chart, the day pillar represents the daymaster (DM) or chart owner and his/ her spouse palace. Hence, it is possible to get a quick prediction of marital blessing by simply checking the day pillar.

To find your day pillar, log into www.bazi-calculator.com, key in your birthday, check the output "Birth chart", the second column from the left is your day pillar.

DAY PILLAR COMPOSITION AND MARITAL BLESSING

1. Day branch or spouse palace is occupied by a wealth star (zheng-cai/ pian-cai): Yi-chou, yi-wei, bing-shen, ding-you, wu-zi, ji-hai, geng-yin and ren-wu. Wealth star stands for wife for a male DM. It implies a good marriage when a wealth star sits in the spouse palace. This is called "matching star and palace 宫星同位". If wealth star is favorable, DM will get wife's wealth in addition to a happy marriage. If DM is a female, the marriage is still above average because wealth star can nurture power star (husband).

2. Day branch or spouse palace is occupied by a power star (zheng-guan/ qi-sha): Jia-shen, yi-you, ding-hai, ji-mao, geng-wu, xin-si, gui-chou, and gui-wei. Power star stands for husband for a female DM. It implies a good marriage when a power star sits in the spouse palace. If power star is favorable, DM will enjoy good status/ reputation and relationship due to husband. This is called "matching star and palace 宫星同位". If DM is a male, wife may boss him around because power star controls DM.

3. Day branch or spouse palace is occupied by a resource star (zheng-yin/ pian-yin) means DM is nurtured by the spouse palace: Jia-zi, yi-hai, bing-yin, ding-mao, wu-wu, ji-si, geng-chen, geng-xu, xin-chou, xin-wei, ren-shen and gui-you. Resource star stands for mother/ elder for both male and female DM. DM sits on a resource star implies DM's wife or husband will take care of him/ her like a mother. It is even better if resource star is favorable.

4. Day branch or spouse palace is occupied by an output star (shang-guan/ shi-shen) means DM nurtures the spouse palace: Jia-wu, yi-hai, yi-si, bing-chen, bing-xu, ji-you, geng-zi, xin-hai, ren-yin, gui-mao and wu-shen. Different outcomes for male and female DM with output star in spouse palace:

Male DM: Though wealth or wife star does not sit in spouse palace, but output star will nurture wealth star. If DM is strong and wealth is favorable, DM will have good relationship/ marriage with wife. If weak and unfavorable, DM will have poor marital relationship.
Female DM: Power or husband star does not sit in spouse palace. Instead, output star, the arch-enemy of husband star, sits there to confront husband. This likely causes marital setbacks.

5. Day branch or spouse palace is occupied by a peer star (jie-cai/ bi-jian) means DM shares the same element with the the spouse palace: Jia-yin, yi-hai, yi-mao, bing-wu, ding-si, wu-xu, wu-chen, ji-wei, ji-si, geng-shen, xin-you, ren-zi and gui-hai. Peer star controls and "plunders" wealth star and sits in spouse palace, for male DM, this means marital disharmony and wife may be "snatched" by another man. For female DM, peer star steals wealth which is meant for nurturing husband star. In addition, peer star may combine or steal power star (husband). All this signifies marital disharmony.

How to check spouse quality from Bazi birth chart 八字看配偶吉凶

Below is a no BS and straight-talk list of how to check the marital quality of one's spouse:

1. Month pillar of a female chart has stem shang-guan (+output) and branch qi-sha (-power)-- She will marry multiple times.

2. Female daymaster sits on shang-guan (+output), regardless of its favorability ("yong-shen"), She likely has marital problems and/or jinxing husband.

3. Male daymaster sits on peer star (bi-jian/ jie-cai)-- He has marital problems.

4. Female with Jia-yin or Wu-shen day pillar-- Her husband may die of unexpected disaster.

5. Male daymaster sits on pian-cai (-wealth) is amorous. He loves mistress more than wife.

6. Male daymaster sits resource star (zheng-yin/ pian-yin) hindering wife. Wife does not get along with his mother.

7. Female chart with both zheng-guan and qi-sha (power stars) in stem level-- This is called "guan-sha mixing up". She will have marital disharmony, likely marry twice or has lover.

8. Male chart with both zheng-cai and pian-cai (wealth stars) in stem level-- he will have marital disharmony, likely marry twice or has mistress.

9. Female chart has strong shang-guan (+output) stars but no wealth star-- She jinxes her husband or marry again.

10. When day branch (spouse palace) is clashed-- This implies marital disharmony and separation is likely.

11. When day branch (spouse palace) is combined-- This implies spouse has affair.

12. When a male chart day branch has a wealth star (zheng-cai/ piain-cai), regardless the strength of this daymaster, gets a good/ helpful wife. This is called "wife palace stationed by a wife 妻宫妻守"

13. When a female chart day branch has a wealth star (zheng-cai/ piain-cai) and is favorable ("yong-shen"), gets a helpful and capable husband.

Marriage timing: Early or Late? 看早婚晚婚　

In the marital context of Bazi, wealth stars represent wife or mistress for male; power stars stand for husband or lover for female.

The enemy of wealth star is peer star because peer star "snatches" or steals wealth star in Bazi.

The enemy of power star is output star because output star "hurts" power star.

The above brief introduction may help you to understand the marriage timing summary below.

"Early marriage" means getting married before the age of 25.

"Late marriage" refers to marriage after age 30.

MARRIAGE TIMING: EARLY VS. LATE

1. Natal chart stem level has "jealous combination", chart owner (daymaster or DM) likely has early marriage ("Jealous combination" is when two identical stems or branches combine with ONE stem or branch),

2. Natal chart has 3-meetings (San-Hui 三会) or 3-unities (San-He 三合), DM has early marriage tendency.

3. If the stem and branch of luck periods formed has 6-combinations 六合 or 3-unities with natal chart, DM will have higher probability of getting married during this 10-years-luck or annual luck period.

4. Strong male DM with strong wealth stars (Zheng-cai/ Pian-cai) but no peer stars (Bi-jian/ Jie-cai) in stem level, when running into wealth luck period (10YL or annual luck)-- marriage time.

5. Strong female DM with strong power stars but no output stars (Shi-shen/ Shang-guan) in stem level, when running into power luck period (Zheng-guan/ Qi-sha, 10YL or annual luck)-- marriage time.

6. Male DM with numerous peer stars but no wealth star (or wealth star is weak or imprisoned) and his first two 10-year-lucks are peer luck, he is prone to late marriage.

7. Female DM with numerous output stars but no power star (or power star is weak or imprisoned) and her first two 10-year-lucks are output luck, she is prone to late marriage.

8. Male DM has excessive strong wealth stars but is not qualify for "follow wealth" profile chart, is likely to marry late.

9. Female DM has excessive strong power stars but is not qualify for "follow power" profile chart, is likely to marry late.

Day pillars that are prone to marital disharmony 婚姻不顺日柱

A Bazi natal chart consists of year, month, day and hour "pillars" derived from the birthday and birth hour of an individual. Each pillar has a "stem" and "branch". The stem of day pillar represents the "daymaster" (DM) or the chart owner. The branch of day pillar is the "spouse palace" which represents DM's spouse. Bazi reading sometimes uses only the day pillar to predict a person's marital blessing or problems.

Please check the Appendix below if you do not know how to calculate your day pillar.

There are 60 possible day pillars. The list below shows specific day pillars that tend to have more marital problems and disharmonies:

1. Day pillar with yang-ren (yang-knife): hurts or jinxes spouse

Male day-pillars with Ren-zi and Bing-wu; female with Ding-si and Gui-hai-- have unsettling marital relationship. If the branch element is unfavorable-- DM's spouse may be maimed or even died. If favorable, spouse is helpful but still prone to disability or chronic illness.

2. Day pillar sits on peer star (bi-jian/ jie-cai): spouse is prone to affair

DM sits on peer star means someone similar to DM sitting in spouse palace with your spouse. This means spousal infidelity. Here are the day pillars sitting on peer star: Jia-yin, Yi-mao, Wu-chen, Wu-xu, Ji-wei, Ji-chou, Geng-shen and Xin-you.

However, if peer star is favorable, this means DM and spouse are united, helpful and sharing same ideals. If unfavorable, spouse likes to cheat and gives money to his/ her lover.

3. Day pillar with stem and branch battling each other: disharmony

Since day stem represent DM and day branch the spouse. When this stem and branch battle each other means disharmony and lacking effective communication. Here are the day pillars with battling stem and branch: Jia-shen, Jia-xu, Yi-you, Bing-shen, Ding-you, Wu-yin, Geng-yin, Xin-mao, Ren-xu and Gui-wei.

Battling stem and branch with hidden combination: This means even the couple does not get along well, they nonetheless put up with each other due to this hidden combination. Here are the pillars with hidden combination between stem and branch: Ding-hai, Wu-zi, Xin-si, Ren-wu, Ji-hai and Gui-si.

4. Female Day pillar with +output (shang-guan) stem

+Power star (Zheng-guan) is the husband of a female DM. +Output star "hurts" +power star and sits in spouse palace means jinxing husband. Day pillar with +output branch are: Jia-wu, Yi-si, Geng-zi and Xin-hai.

Female DM with yang day-pillar stem sitting on -output star (shi-shen) is also considered as hurting husband star. Here are the yang day pillars with -output branch: Bing-chen, Bing-xu, Wu-shen and Ren-yin.

APPENDIX: FIND A PERSON'S DAY-PILLAR AND DAYMASTER

1. Log in to www.bazi-calculator.com

2. In the right-side of the screen panel box, select "Ken Lai Method". No need to bother with anything else.3. Key in the guy's birthday and hour in the left side of the screen. Ignore the right side screen for "date to compare".
4. Click the "calculate" box to get results.
5. Scroll down the screen and see his Bazi chart in the left side with a table similar to the one here.
6. The first box of second column (the one with "day master" in it) shows the elemental nature of his daymaster (example here is geng-metal in grey color). Below are the colors of 5 elements:

Metal (Geng and Xin) in grey color

Wood (Jia and Yi) in green color

Water (Ren and Gui) in blue color

Fire (Bing and Ding) in red color

Earth (Wu and Ji) in yellow color

Spouse palace and marriage timing

In Bazi, the location or "palace" below the day stem (a.k.a. "daymaster", the chart owner) is called "spouse palace" 配偶宫. It contains information like physical appearance, personality and more of the daymaster's spouse. But today we focus only on marriage timing provided by this palace.

A. The following scenarios likely result in early marriage (late teen/ early 20's) or marriage at appropriate age according to local norms 早婚适婚:

Spouse palace is combined into spouse star (wealth star for male and power star for female) by another branch within the chart.
Spouse palace is combined into spouse star or wealth (male)/ power (female) formation with other branches.
Spouse star (+wealth/ zheng-cai for male; +power/ zheng-guan for female) sits in spouse palace.
Favorable element or "useful god" sits in spouse palace with no penalty or clash.

B. The following scenarios likely result in delayed marriage (beyond the appropriate marrying age according to local norms) 迟婚:

Spouse palace sits on void branch with no remedy
Peer star (bi-jian/ jie-cai) or female with +output (shang-guan) sitting in spouse palace

C. The following scenarios likely result in late marriage (40+ or older) 晚婚:

Spouse palace is combined into peer (bi-jian/ jie-cai for male) formation or +output (shang-guan for female) formation with other branches.
Spouse palace is clashed or penalized by other branch with no combination to the rescue.

D. The following scenario likely results in early marriage (late teen or early 20's) 早婚:

Natal chart's Peach-blossom 桃花 or Celestial Celebration (tian-hei 天喜) or Celebration (hong luan 红鸾) star combines into spouse palace.

Ken's List of Wife-Jinxing Bazi 命理克妻断

Ladies! Today is your lucky day! Before you dive into a relationship or marriage, check the following list to make sure your potential lover does not jinx you to death.

Check the birthday Bazi chart of your potential mate to see if his chart hits one or more of the followings:

Natal chart and 10-year-lucks have no wealth star: this is likely the destiny of a monk or a man with no wife.
Chart has "pure yin" or "pure-yang" pillars likely jinxes wife.
Wife star (wealth or "cai" star) is in void: wife is prone to premature death or this man remains single throughout his life.
Wife star is clashed or combined away: is prone to physical or death separation with wife.
Strong male daymaster has a wife star not sitting in spouse palace, is clashed: is prone to jinxing wife.
Weak male daymaster with both + and -wealth stars (zheng-cai/ pian-cai): he is likely a disloyal husband with lots of material and sexual desire.
Chart with both wealth and power star in void: this man is likely jinxing wife during his middle age.
Chart with multiple storage elements (chen, xu, chou and wei): is prone to jinxing wife.
Chart has weak wife star with strong and multiple + and -peer (jie-cai/ bi-jian) stars: is prone to jinxing wife.
Chart with yang-knife (jie-cai) star sitting in spouse palace (day-branch) and combines with another branch: wife is chronically sick.
Spouse palace does not have a yang-knife but combines with a yang-knife in another branch: wife is chronically sick.
Chart has -power (qi-sha) with -resource (pian-yin) and yang-knife (jie-cai) stars: this man is likely jinxing wife during his middle age.
Chart with wife star (wealth or "cai") entombed: wife is incapable or lacking luck or died prematurely.
Chart with year and hour pillar exchanging void branch (i.e., each has the void branch of the other pillar): is prone to jinxing wife or no wife.
Chart with hour and day pillar exchanging void branch: is prone to jinxing wife or no wife.

The more a chart hits the above list, the higher the "wife jinxing power".

"Jinxing" here does not mean this man jinxing his wife to death but it is the destiny of this woman. It is not his fault. His qi or energy field tends to attract partner who is destined for a less fortunate life.

Ken's List of Husband-Jinxing Bazi 命理克夫断

Gentlemen! Today is your lucky day! Originally, I want to share this life-saving list with my own students only. This article may save your life. Before you dive into a relationship or marriage, check the following list to make sure your potential lover does not jinx you to death.

Check the birthday Bazi chart of your potential mate to see if her chart hits one or more of the followings:

Chart with numerous strong -output stars (shi-shen), including at least one in stem level: husband may be chronically sick or jinxing husband and remarry.
Chart with numerous strong +output stars (shang-guan) including at least one in stem level: husband may be chronically sick or jinxing husband and remarry.
Chart with numerous strong + and -output stars (shang-guan/ shi-shen) including at least one in stem level: husband may be chronically sick or jinxing husband and remarry.
Chart has "pure yin" or "pure-yang" pillars likely jinxes husband
Husband star (power or "guan" star) is in void: husband is prone to premature death or this woman remains single throughout her life.
Chart with strong and multiple +power (husband or zheng-guan) stars: is prone to jinxing husband
Chart with strong and multiple + and -peer (jie-cai/ bi-jian) stars: is prone to jinxing husband
Chart with strong and multiple yang-knives (jie-cai) stars: is prone to jinxing husband
Chart with strong and multiple -resource (pian-yin): is prone to jinxing husband
Chart has weak +power (zheng-guan) star with -resource (pian-yin), -output (shi-shen) and +output (shang-guan) stars: is prone to jinxing husband to premature death.
Chart with husband star (power or "guan") entombed: husband is incapable or lacking luck or died prematurely.
Chart has identical year and day pillar (fu-yin) with spouse palace (day-branch) clashed: is prone to jinxing husband and remarry.
Chart has identical month and day pillar (fu-yin) with spouse palace (day-branch) clashed: is prone to jinxing husband and remarry.
Chart has identical hour and day pillar (fu-yin) with spouse palace (day-branch) clashed: is prone to jinxing husband and remarry.
Chart with year and day pillar exchanging void branch (i.e., each has the void branch of the other pillar): is prone to jinxing husband or no husband.
Chart with month and day pillar exchanging void branch: is prone to jinxing husband or no husband.

#2, followed by #3 and then #1 probably has the strongest jinxing effects (not an ideal mate even if no jinxing because this woman likely has "princess sickness" temperament). The rest of the list makes weak, incapable or sick if not a dead husband. The more a chart hits the above list, the higher the "jinxing power".

"Jinxing" here does not mean this woman jinxing her husband to death but it is the destiny of this man. It is not her fault. Her qi or energy field tends to attract partner who is destined for a less fortunate life.

How to check marital disasters 婚灾發生時間

"Marital disasters" here refer to:

quarrels and bickering
violence-- battered wife/ husband
affairs
one spouse suffers severe illness or died of sickness/ accident
divorce, separation or cannot see each other much

PREDICTING THE TIMING OF MARITAL DISASTERS

Marital disasters are likely to happen after the couple is over 30 years old. Below are the likely timing of occurrence:

When annual luck stem or branch clashing spouse star (wealth star for male and power star for female)
When annual luck stem or branch combining with spouse star-- is prone to affair or spouse runs away with another person
When annual luck branch clashing the spouse star in the natal chart
When annual luck stem or branch combines the the person's day branch (day branch is the spouse palace in Bazi)
When male spouse running into peer (bi-jie/ jie-cai) or wealth star (zheng-cai/ pian-cai) annual luck AND this luck clashes or penalizes or harms or combines with day or month branch-- is prone to have marital problem like quarreling, divorce, illness, disability or even death.
When female spouse running into output (shang-guan/ shi-shen) or power star (zheng-guan/ qi-sha) annual luck AND this luck branch clashes or penalizes or harms or combines with day or month branch-- is prone to have marital problem like quarreling, divorce, illness, disability or even death.

Why major fortune and misfortune happened within the same year?

Note: The case study below is an exercise for my Bazi group members

The birth of a baby is considered a celebration. Death is a major misfortune. Both were happened within the same year for the female below.

This woman was pregnant with her second child in 2013 (gi-si). The first born is a girl. Her husband was killed by 2 cars sandwiching his car in a traffic accident before the birth of his second baby boy in 2013.
