"Forever Auspicious Feng Shui" 「三元不敗」風水

Hong Kong's famous Chinese Almanac and Feng Shui grandmaster Cai Ba Li (蔡伯勵) had passed on July 26, 2018 at the age of 96.  Cai was the region's ultra-rich and famous people's "go-to guy" for Feng Shui and date-selection consultations.  Billionaire like Li Ka-Shing was one of his clients.  He had been in the Feng Shui and Chinese Almanac publishing (通勝曆書) business for over 70 years.  Cai's annual Chinese Almanac (aka "Tung Shu") is sold over 1 million copies per year in Asia.

Cai had spent 20 years to plan and build a ancestral mansion in his China hometown. Below description is given by Cai about his mansion.

Cai's ancestral mansion
"This mansion has mountain at the back and river in the front.  There is a theory of changing period luck in Feng Shui.  It stipulates that period luck changes once every 20 years.  This mansion will use the right door as main door when 2024 arrives.  Left door will be utilized in the following luck period.  Current main door is in the middle.  Left, middle and right doors are 15 degrees away from each other.  Timing and locations have all been carefully calculated."

This is the so-called "forever auspicious Feng Shui formation"  (三元不敗之局).  The secret is adjusting the main door location for each new period!

Real case study from a real grandmaster-- now you can see the importance of main door in your Feng Shui design planning.  For more info about door Feng Shui, consult this video course:

GM Cai was active in civic activities with his own charity foundation.  He had fathered 11 children with 5 of them to continue the family business in Feng Shui and almanac publishing.

Frankenstein Feng Shui or Pure Bred Feng Shui

My student asks me this question that probably most of the Feng Shui students want to know but are afraid to ask:

"What are your thoughts when it comes to having several Feng Shui techniques/ schools of thought in a practitioner's toolkit when selecting or auditing a house? Is it more advisable to use one technique/ lineage/ school over others, or use a combination -- for example,  some masters screen using 8 mansions first, then combine with flying stars etc. Does combining or using a single li-qi (formula) technique make any difference."

Here is my translation of this long question in one sentence:  Which one is better--  Frankenstein vs. pure bred Feng Shui approach?

FRANKENSTEIN FENG SHUI
The classic western movie "Frankenstein" is about a mad scientist who had created a monster out of body parts from different corpses.

Frankenstein Feng Shui is the application of 2 or more Feng Shui schools techniques in a Feng Shui audit.  The most common one is mixing of Flying Stars and Bazhai (8-mansions) Feng Shui in an audit.

On the positive side, if the practitioner knows the specialty or strong points of each Feng Shui school, s/he may apply, for example:  Bazhai in kitchen, San He for bed arrangement, XKDG for door, Flying Star for wealth enhancement,... and the like.

On the negative side, some practitioners do not really understand the Feng Shui schools and haphazardly apply different Feng Shui schools techniques in their audits.  For example, I have seen quite a few "tilt it again Sam" doors in Malaysia and Singapore.  Some "masters" set up two doors at different angles in a house or business.  The first door is tilted for the auspicious Bazhai angle and the second door for Flying Star.  It is as if the qi entering the premise is "smart" and can distinguish the first door is for Bazhai, second door for Flying Star Feng Shui and "behave" accordingly.

PURE BRED FENG SHUI
"Pure bred" here means loosely as "one school only".  In reality, there is really no pure bred Feng Shui because most Feng Shui schools "borrow" something from others.  For example, the popular Flying Star has more than 10+ variations, so is Bazhai.

Is pure bred better than Frankenstein Feng Shui?  The answer is both "yes" and "no".

Every Feng Shui system has its own peculiar properties that works well with certain land forms, like some methods work better with mountain regions while others with flat-land or river regions.  Hence when there is a match between land form and a pure bred Feng Shui School, the results will be great.  If not, the opposite happens.

SEMI-PURE BRED OR VOTING FENG SHUI
In this brand of Feng Shui, the practitioner employs one Feng Shui school only, but takes references to other schools' judgment on each Feng Shui sector.  For example, if Flying Star thinks this door location is great but Bazhai says it sucks and IF this practitioner only considers two school (one + and one minus), this location still "usable" or "OK".  If both schools agree that this location is bad, then remedy is sought or not using this location.  If both schools think this location is great, then this location must be very good.

"Ken, what is your position on this topic?"

Before I put on a Frankenstein or pure bred hat (I should market a "Make Feng Shui Great Again" hat),  I check the Bazi or 4-pillars chart of the client first.  If s/he is in good luck period, I will tell him just pick whatever house s/he likes and fire the Feng Shui guy (me).

If client is in average or low luck period,  I would use Form Feng Shui first.  Formula Feng Shui will not work if the forms are not there!  If the forms look good with the 4-animals and right forms, the Feng Shui of that property should not be bad.

I would cherry-pick the best feature of different Feng Shui schools.  "Fran-ken-stein" has my name inside.

"Ken, you sound like pushing your Feng Shui courses by advocating Frankenstein Feng Shui."

You are so smart.  If you can only afford one Feng Shui course, take the "Advanced Visual Form Feng Shui" listed below.  Feng Shui teachers can cheat you with formula Feng Shui because you cannot see li-qi or formula.  Form Feng Shui is what you see is what you get-- everyone can see forms like mountains and rivers.

Bazi Characteristics of Childless Women

Below are the Bazi characteristics of women who are likely remain childless or at the most, giving birth to girls and not boys.

1.  Strong DM (daymaster, the woman) with strong resource stars (zheng-yin/ pian-yin) but no wealth star (zheng-cai/ pian-cai).  For example, strong Jia-wood DM with strong water but no earth.

2.  Weak DM with strong output stars (shang-guan/ shi-shen) but weak resource stars (zheng-yin/ pian-yin).  For example, weak Jia-wood DM with strong fire but weak water.

3.  Weak DM with strong wealth stars (zheng-cai/ pian-cai) meeting resource stars (zheng-yin/ pian-yin).  For example, weak Jia-wood DM with strong earth and water.

4.  Weak DM with strong power stars (zheng-guan/ qi-sha).  For example, weak Jia-wood DM with strong metal.

5.  Charts with any one of the following conditions:
  • over-strong fire and dried earth
  • strong wet earth and metal
  • over-strong water floating wood
  • freezing metal and cold water
  • numerous resource stars
  • over-strong power and wealth stars
  • too many output stars

The reasons behind the above are given in my private Bazi discussion groups along with this article.  You can easily figure it out if you convert the transformation stars ("10-gods") into 5-elements relationship and yin-yang balance.

Door-tilting Feng Shui: Green edition

A student emailed me this a few days ago: "I read about "green" tilting on your blog. Is this covered in your door fengshui course?"

Aging catches up with me, I lost track of what I have written last month and not to mention those written years ago.  I have asked this student for the link of the original article, as shown below:

http://kenlaifengshui.blogspot.com/2013/02/the-latest-feng-shui-hammer-tilt-o-matic.html?m=1

This article was about door-tilting craze in south-east Asia.  I had bragged about my door-tilting without physically tilting the door and called the technique "green tilt".

My last "green tilt" was done in Singapore in 2006 in a rental property.  My client rented one unit out of the whole building and felt uncomfortable with the energy in the house.  He thought the house might be "unclean".

Classic fix for situation like this without involving religion is to create an auspicious main entrance.  The auspicious qi will make whatever entities uncomfortable and stay away.

The problem was:  this is a rental unit and tenant is not authorized to physically modify the door location.

So the only alternative is to do a "green tilt".  No religious stuff involved.  Material cost is almost zero. The door is 100% unchanged but the angle was somehow changed to bring in the auspicious qi.

A few years later, this client moved to another place.  His dog suddenly barked fearfully as if seeing some "visitors" when he  took down the "green tilt" item.  Dogs can see ghosts and spirits.  The house reverted back to former energy state that is attractive to other "entities".

"Ken, are you going to tell us the 'green tilt' secret?"

The only clue I can give you is that the method is based on one of the Feng Shui systems in my "Practical Door Feng Shui for Wealth" course.  Many Feng Shui masters and carpenters may lose significant income if this "green tilt" method is made public.  I cannot afford to owe them this giant karma debts.

My advice would be: avoid door-tilting, especially if this is a residence.

Fixing San-sha (3-killings) on the cheap

What are these monsters?  Jurasic Park escapees?

Now you see a happy Ki-lun family guarding current year's San-sha location (north, hai, zi and chou mountains) in my house.

San-sha is a negative energy that changes location every year.  Construction like digging and movements should be avoided in San-sha location or sickness or disaster will strike.  In Feng Shui, the remedy is usually putting a pair of Ki-lun facing the San San locations.  For current year of 2018, north (hai, zi and chou mountains) is the San-sha location.

Ki-lun must be applied in pairs-- one male and one female with a baby Ki-lun.  Place male Ki-lun on the left side and female on the right.

A word of caution-- Ki-lun is a very righteous animal and hates "bad" people.  Do not use Ki-lun to fix San-sha if you are less than decent or Ki-lun may kick your behind.

"Ken, I cannot get Ki-lun in my part of the world."

"Ken, I cannot afford this expensive Ki-lun."

"Ken, I am not Chinese. Ki-lun looks like a monster and does not match my house decor."

Today is your lucky day.  I have answers for all your concerns.  Here are all Ki-lun remedy alternatives that may cater to your economic and cultural background.

Solving affordability and availability problems
You may print out the above Ki-lun photo and put it facing the San-sha direction.

Solving the cultural background or decoration problems
San-sha is a "sha-qi" or strong vicious energy.  We may use a strong energy to balance it out.  Here are two examples of items that westerners may use to counter-act San-sha energy.

1.  Archangel St. Michael -- put his statue or picture in the San-sha location.

2.  Cannon-- put a model cannon or  a picture of cannon facing San-sha location.  Make sure the cannon is pointing towards outside of your house. The cannon in the enclosed photo was used by Sir Wellington to battle Napolean.  It has tons of "sha-qi".

Using logic and reasoning, you don't need to have a Jurassic Park (Feng Shui monsters edition) in your house to fix your Feng Shui.  You could easily find substitutes based on balance and 5-elements theory.
