Feng Shui: Ghost-gate lines 鬼门线

The term "ghost-gate" (鬼门) exists long before the term "Feng Shui" was coined.  You can find this term in the ancient text of Yi-jing. 

Ancient text claims that "ghost-gate" is in northeast or Gen trigram, where spirits or ghosts entering or leaving.  Ancient people like to build temples on this location to facilitate spiritual communications.

Modern views do not think ghost-gate is really ghost-ridden, but the energy here is very "yin".

There are two types of ghost-gate line.  The line at the center of northeast region (Gen trigram) is called "outward ghost-gate line" 表鬼门. The other one at the southwest (Kun trigram) is called "inner ghost-gate line" 里鬼门.

These two angles have the most "yin" energy within 360 degrees.

In terms of Feng Shui, doors, toilet seat, stove, fridge, air-conditioner, washing machine, hi-fi, TV, wealth position......, should not be placed on this ghost-gate line.  Inauspicious events or misfortune may happen if items with movements are placed on these ghost-gate lines.  

Negative events will happen to male owner mostly if outward ghost-gate line is violated and to woman owner if inner ghost-gate line is provoked.

Negative effects will be more severe if main door sits on ghost-gate line.  It will be the worst if this door is also facing a T-junction or other form-sha energy like a "sickle sha" or "heart-piercing sha".

Characteristics of Inauspicious or Haunted House

A house is inauspicious or haunted if it has the following characteristics:

1. There are two or more deaths or severe injuries in the family within 3 years of moving-in.-- House like this usually has "sha-qi" (negative energy) like T-junction, sickle-cutting sha, heart-piercing sha or "white-tiger sha".  These negative energies cause bloody events, backstabbing and disharmony .
2. After moving in, family members have chronic headache, fevers or diarrhea.
3. Family members suffer frequent misfortunes and bad lucks after moving in.
4. Family members suddenly turn against each other after moving in.
5. After moving in, family members suffer insomnia or dreaming of ghosts.
6. Pets like cat and dog refuse to enter the new house or certain part of the house.
7. Baby or toddler cries when entering the new house, especially at the evenings
8. Barely perceptible smell of rotten material or foul smell (but cannot find the source)
9. Small animals clashing into the house and died (excluding moths)
10. Feeling chill inside the house even in summer.
11. Family altar tablets (of ancestors or deity) fell down or cracked  

Move away if this is your house.  The problem is that if you live in a house with these conditions, you are likely in a bad luck period and may end up in a much worse house.  Hence you should hire a Feng Shui practitioner with a proven track record to help you find another house.

If for any reason that you cannot move, as long as your problem is not due to #1 above, find a priest of your preferred religion and do a cleansing and blessing of your house (and hope the problems go away).

Ken Lai's Minimalist Feng Shui Guide for Home Buying

This minimalist Feng Shui guide is for the ultra lazy (and/ or busy or cheap) people.  The goal is not to maximize good Feng Shui but to avoid bad Feng Shui when buying a house.  If you can avoid the following 3 Feng Shui problems, your new home Feng Shui should be at least "livable" with no major problem.

1.  Do NOT buy a house with main door facing a T-junction or reversed bow-shaped road.
A house sits at the intersection of a T-junction-- this dash of energy or "sha-qi" will disrupt the energy field of the house negatively.  It may cause accidental death or severe sickness like cancer for the residents.  It also causes dwindling luck, shrinking family size and legal problems.  

2.  Do NOT buy a house with northwest corner missing.  Northwest sector represents the oldest male or bread-winner of the house.  Missing NW corner will affect his luck and well-being.  He could die prematurely and does not like staying at home.  Single woman will have problem keeping a man in this house.


  

3.  Do NOT buy a house with toilet in center of house.  House center is like the heart of a house-- put a toilet there is like polluting its heart.  It will affect the health of the residents, like acute sickness leading to death.
 
Likewise, a toilet in the NW section is also bad for the oldest male resident of the house.  Woman of this house will have relationship problem or cannot keep a man.  She "flushes" away her relationship whenever using the toilet.

These 3 big Feng Shui "no-no" are proven again and again.  Don't laugh it off.

Effects of T-junction or "road clash" on the Residents

Note:  The following is an excerpt from the manual of "Advanced Visual Form Feng Shui" on the effects of "T-junction" or road clash (a.k.a. road-chong) on the residents of a house.

Road clash is a strong rush of air current hitting a house.  It disrupts the magnetic field of the house being rushed and in turn affecting the residents inside.

NEGATIVE EFFECTS OF ROAD CLASH

Clash from the front of house:

l          Injuries and automobiles accidents  (hitting from the front)

l          Lawsuits (road clash is a sha energy, stands for lawsuits)

l          Murder and deaths (esp. if the road clash is from the east)

l          Serious sickness, surgeries or strokes

Clash from the back of house:

l          Injuries and automobiles accidents (hitting from the back or occurs during evening)

l          Backstabbing by mean people; being accused or implicated

l          Bad debts from relatives and close friends

l          Lawsuits

Clash from the side of house:

n            effects are similar to clash from the back

REMEDIES FOR ROAD CLASH

l          (please see "Advanced Visual Form Feng Shui" course manual)

Note: use bagua mirror only when you have no other alternative.  It is more a psychological remedy than real fix.

RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN ROAD CLASH AND DIRECTION

 (Direction is relative to the house)

l          Road clash from NW, W, NE and S—will bring wealth, but still unsafe (may hurt residents).  It is more appropriate for business storefront than residence.

l          Road clash from N, SW —  likely to have lawsuits

l          Road clash from SE— peach blossom and suicides are more likely

l          Road clash from East— car accidents and deaths are more likely

AUSPICIOUS ROAD CLASH DIRECTION (direction is relative to the house)

Not all road clashes are negative, the ones that clashes the “timely star” are good for doing business are: (based on current Period 8)

--NW, W, NE and S, especially NE and South

Note:  the house being clashed must have back support, green dragon and white tiger to handle the clash.

Form Feng Shui: Suppressed Dragon and Roaming Tiger

Earlier this year, I went to Houston to do a site-selection for a client.

The clients want to buy a property for retirement. We had checked five to six farm properties.

One of the farms gave us deep impression. Here is the summary of the farm:
-- a 10 acres fruit farm with positive cash flow (big attraction)
-- relatively new buildings
-- we can feel the house has warm and happy memories (yes, clients and me can feel "qi")

BUT, the main building is almost next to the neighbor. The fence separating the property line is only a few feet from the left side of the house. All the fruit trees and land are at the right or tiger side of the house.

So the dragon side is almost not there!

There is a 400 feet long dirt road pointing straight at the front door of the house. This is a heart-piercing sha or "road-clash" (lu-chong). Someone may die or suffer serious injury with this type of form sha (negative energy). It usually happens within 3- 6 years after moving-in.

We all like the house except the dragon problem. The "road-clash" sha is easy to fix, just re-route the dirt road to encircle the house and transform it into an "embracing water" (good for wealth).

However, the missing dragon is hard to fix. Client talked about moving the whole building (2 storeys, about 5000 sq. feet area) a few hundred meters from the original foundation.

This is an expensive proposition!

Upon further investigation into the history of the house, the real estate agent told us that the original male owner died after moved into the house for about 3 years. The family was a happy family.

When we left the farm, both my client and the real estate agent saw a ghostly male image on a second floor window gazing at us.

Property like this one can be audited without using a luopan. By looking at the form you can tell that the males of the house are weak, having no power, does not like to stay home, family members are isolated or hard to get "helpful people" or mentor (instead, running into mean people), strong/ successful (may be bossy) females and high incidence of widowhood.

There is a formula to calculate when misfortune happens and who will suffer with T-junctions or road-clash (taught in my "Advanced Form Feng Shui" class).

There is similar situation in our bedroom FS-- tiger side or dragon side of the bed is too big or too narrow. The effects are taught at my "Sha Avoidance Feng Shui" (don't worry, no one will die).

We can learn a lot from the tiger.
