Bazi: Free soap opera writer training?

NOTE:   Below is a "Reality Bazi" exercise that I give to my Bazi students today.  It is the real life version of "The Graduate" movie.

There is a soap opera going on in Taiwan that grabs TV and people's attention.  Here are the characters:
  1. Mother-in-law:  36 years old  (1981 xin-you)
  2. Daughter:  20 years old  (1997 ding-chou)
  3. Son-in-law ("Sing"):  18 years old (1999 ji-mao)
  4. The young couple has one kid, age and gender not reported.
This "incident" has happened in 2017 ding-you year (likely in metal months, September - October).

This mother-in-law has seduced Sing the son-in-law and has sex.  She claims that Sing loves her and tells people that Sing will divorce her daughter.  She said her current husband does not care as long as she returns home at night.

Her daughter is mad and spills out this in-laws affair in the social media.  The daughter says that she would have filed a lawsuit for damages if the mistress is not her own mother.  Mother and daughter have public "cat-fights" in the internet.  Local TV news are busy with this event to push up rating.

Most "netizens" sympathize with the daughter.  Some comment that the incident looks like a Japanese AV (adult video). 

Friends of this son-in-law said he had relationship with 2 females simultaneously for a while.

Based on the limited information from the media, can you create ("guesstimate") the possible composition of daughter's natal Bazi chart  (incomplete chart OK, just need the critical elements)?

Mate-selection Bazi: Male horse wanted, may win apartments


I saw the this picture of a mother showing a poster-sized note about getting a man for her daughter in a Chinese website.  Here is the translation of the poster:

Female, born in November of 1991, ram sign, Beijing resident, 172 cm height, 52 kg weight, university graduate, owns 5 apartments; one of the apartments  can be assigned to the potential husband.  Bazi of the girl:  (Nov. 21, 1991, Chen hour)
  • Year:  xin-wei
  • Month:  ji-hai
  • Day:  yi-wei
  • Hour:  geng-chen
Requirement of potential mate:
OK if he does not have property and/or car; must have horse animal sign and the following Bazi:  (Nov. 20, 1990, Chen hour)
  • Year:  geng-wu
  • Month:  ding-hai
  • Day:  ji-chou
  • Hour:  wu-chen
Apparently this mother has a Bazi reader done a marriage Bazi matching before searching a man for her daughter. 

The woman's zodiac animal sign is ram and the potential target man is horse.  Horse and ram "combine" or getting along in Bazi astrology.

Can you figure out the reason for the male's specific Bazi, especially you can see male's ji-chou day-pillar clashing (fan-yin) female's yi-wei  day-pillar?  This could result in quarreling and fighting between the couple.

From the charts, you can see earth is the wealth element of this yi-wood daymaster girl.  She has very strong wealth elements derived from older generations (owns 5 apartment at age 26).  Metal is the husband for a wood daymaster.  There are two metal elements in the stem level with a condition called "guan-sha mixing up" (numerous husbands and lovers).  Her mother does not need to help her find a husband.  Her daughter attracts men like flies.  She probably is a nosy mother to make sure her daughter gets the type of son-in-law that she wants.

What type of son-in-law does this "concerned" mother want?  A quick hint is from the poster-- "owns 5 apartments".  There is no mentioning of any personal or intangible qualities of the girl nor required personal quality from the man.   Her concern for material things is very evident here.  This is even more evident when you look at the composition of the natal chart of the potential suitor. 

The potential male is a ji-earth daymaster with strong peer (bi-jian/ jie-cai) elements and strong strong resource ("yin" or fire) to nurture earth.  Chart with strong peer elements but little or no power element ("guan" or wood here) to control them, the person will be someone with the personality of pharma bro Martin Shkreli (obnoxious), jinxing wife and father.  I guess this mother primarily focusing on the strong earth elements in the chart (means wealth to her daughter).  She hopes her wood daymaster daughter will be able to boss or control this man.  Wood is the power element to an earth daymaster.

Incidentally, both girl and potential man are likely becoming obese and problem conceiving children in the future.

From the man's Bazi chart, we can deduce that the Bazi reader that this mother hired considered earth or wealth is the favorable element ("yong-shen") of this girl.  After matching the animal sign of the potential couple, this Bazi reader simply searches for chart with strong earth for the girl and never minding any possible side effects.

Most Bazi readers in China laugh at the choice.  Upon looking beyond these natal charts, some important discoveries that could unlock a million dollar question in Bazi are found hidden in this marriage Bazi matching.  I let you figure it out yourself.  Hint:  check the 10-years-luck periods.

Bazi: Meanings of Branches and Pillars Clashes

The meanings of major branch clashes in a Bazi chart are summarized as follow:

BRANCH CLASHES

  1. Zi-wu clash:  instability, insecurity, changes, movement and moving
  2. Mao-you clash:  affairs, lust, disputes or losing wealth due to lust, friends become enemies
  3. Yin-shen clash:  nosy, minding/ interfering with other people's business 
  4. Si-hai clash:  too eager to help; nosy
  5. Chen-xu clash:  jinxing or injury to close relatives, especially wife and children
  6. Chou-wei clash:  encountering obstacles all the time

4-BRANCH ELEMENTS CLASHES
  • Zi-wu-mao-you 4-cardinal clash:  clash in geographical locations or changing residence but not job/ career 
  • Chen-xu-chou-wei 4-storages clash:  changing job/ career but not geographical location or residence
  • Yin-shen-si-hai 4-sub-cardinal clash:  changes in both residence and job/ career 

PILLAR CLASHES (fan-yin)
  1. Year and month pillar clash:   leaving hometown to make a living
  2. Month and day pillar clash:  marital problems; disharmony in the family
  3. Day and hour pillar clash::  little or no relationship/ karma with children; cannot depend on children for support during or suffering during old age
  4. Hour and year pillar clash::  little or no relationship/ karma with grandparent generations
  5. Day and year pillar clash::  little or no relationship/ karma with grandparent generations

If month pillar clashes day pillar, it is likely marriage related.  If day pillar clashes month pillar, it is likely family relationship/ harmony related.

P.S.  Someone claim the above info as "Blindman Bazi School perspective on clashes".  If one believes, one must have been born yesterday.   Similar info can be found in most standard Bazi texts written hundred of years ago.  This is a known marketing scheme in certain parts of Asia to label any Bazi info as "Blindman School" and tempt people to buy the same Bazi info again.

Identical birthday and time, but one died earlier 祿盡人亡

In China's Yuan Dynasty(1271- 1368), two scholars with identical birthday/ hour had passed the Imperial Examination at the same time.  They were assigned to be city officials in the same day.  One was sent to Ezhou (鄂州) and the other to Huangzhou (黄州)City.

Within a short period of time, the Huangzhou official had passed.  The Ezhou official, his classmate, thinking that he was about to die, was very scared and had arranged his funeral in advanced.

The Ezchou official was still alive and well after seven days.  So he had visited the new tomb of his classmate in Huangzhou.

"I was born in the same date and hour as yours.  Our birth places were the same.  Yet you had passed before me.  Even if I die now, I still die later than you by a few days.  Why?  If there are spirits and deities, please explain to me in my dream."  Prayed the Ezchou official in front of the tomb.

The spirit of the deceased official had shown up the same day in the dream of Ezchou official.  He said,

"You are frugal with all your activities and living expenses and will expect a longer life than me.  I had over-spent and enjoyed myself too much.  I have used up my allocated blessing and wealth prematurely, resulting in a shorter life."

Chinese believes that everyone is born with a predestined amount of blessing and wealth called "lu" (祿).  When this predestined amount is consumed by the person, he will die regardless of his current age.  The term for this condition is "One dies when his blessing and wealth are exhausted" (祿盡人亡).

Hence, according to traditional Chinese, conspicuous consumption and extravagance are your speeding ticket to heaven or death.

This belief is in sharp contrast with some modern Chinese young people.  Some are called "Moonlight Tribe" (月光族).   It is not that they try to make more money by moonlighting.  "Moon" also means "month" and "light" also means "empty" in Chinese.  "Moonlight Tribe" refers to people who spend all their monthly income every month (hence empty pockets).  They probably have not yet exhausted their "predestined blessing and wealth" or simply making too little.

Age Analysis: Las Vegas Mass Shooting Victims

This article is an analysis of the age distribution of the deceased victims of Las Vegas mass shooting.  The objective is to check if certain age numbers tend to show up more than others.  In other words, certain numbers are less auspicious or not as fortunate than others.  Hopefully the finding may help people to improve their safety planning for their future activities.

BELIEF OR SUPERSTITION IN NUMBERS
In most western cultures, the number "7" is a lucky number whereas in China, seven is associated with death rituals.

The 4-leaf cover is a symbol of luck in at least the Irish culture.  The number four sounds like "death" in Chinese and is often avoided like by eliminating the 4th/ 14th/ 24th/ 34th/ 44th floor in a building or street address.

The number six sounds like "official wealth" in Chinese and hence considered auspicious.  However, the number "666" is dreaded by western cultures.

The number that is most adored by the Chinese is the number "8".  "Eight" sounds like "prosperity" or "getting rich" in Chinese.  Chinese likes to bid on anything -- car license plate, street or apartment number that contains the number eight.  Eight is considered the luckiest number by the Chinese.

The number "nine" sounds like "forever" or "lasting" in Chinese.  So it well received by the Chinese.  However, zero is the beginning of the number journey and"nine" is the last digit and final destination.  "Nine" is sometimes treated as a major "hurdle" for reaching another 10 years of life expectancy by Chinese astrology readers.

TESTING METHODOLOGY
Age distribution of Las Vegas victims is tabulated and percentages are calculated.  Because the nature of the event (country music concert) in the incident tends to attract certain age groups, only the last digit of victim's age number is used for calculation.  This may eliminate the age-groups bias.  See the table below:


DATA ANALYSIS
With a total of 58 cases and 10 digits (0- 9), the average is 5.8.  So theoretically, each number should show up five to six times.  Therefore, if there are 5- 6 cases or around 10% for a number, this number is pretty "neutral" or neither auspicious nor inauspicious.  Hence, the green rows with age digit number 1, 2 and 6 in table above are "neutral".

The rows in red color are below 7% mean fewer people died with these age digit numbers.  This means number 3, 7 and 9 are more auspicious, especially number "7" with only one case.  This indeed provides strong support on the western belief that number "7" is relatively lucky.

The rows with bold black entries have over 13% frequency.  Number "4" has 12 cases or 20.7%-- the highest frequency in the data.  Even the gunman has the number "4" in his current age of 64. This supports the Chinese belief that number "4" is inauspicious.  A shocking number is age "34" which shows up 7 times-- the highest exact age number frequency in this data set.  Age 34 probably is a year that people should be vigilant in planning for travels and events.

The biggest surprise is number "8" with a pretty high frequency of 8 cases or 13.8%.  This disputes the Chinese belief that number 8 is very auspicious.  Another shocking number is exact age number "28" which shows up 6 times-- the second highest frequency in this data set.  Age 28 probably is also a year that people should be vigilant in planning for travels and events too.

Another surprise is the number "zero" with the second highest frequency of 9 cases or 15.5%.  We expect that the number "9" should have higher frequency than the number "zero" because "9" is the end of the number journey.  But "zero" has much higher frequency.  Hence, people with age number ending with "0" should be vigilant in that year. This also disproves the Chinese belief that "10" is "completion" and "perfection", especially in certain Feng Shui schools.

CONCLUSION
Based on the data from Las Vegas mass shooting and perhaps any unexpected mass catastrophe,  the most dangerous age numbers are when one's age number ends with the number "four", followed by "zero" and "eight".  The most dangerous ages in this Las Vegas group are 28 and 34.  People with any of these age characteristics should plan the activities with more security options accordingly.

Las Vegas Mass Shooting: Analysis of Grand Duke Effect

This is a study of the relative validity of Chinese "Grand Duke" belief using the data from Las Vegas mass shooting.

Chinese believes that each year is governed by one of the 60 divine rulers or "Grand Dukes" from heaven.  Each one is represented by one of the 12 Chinese Zodiac animal signs.  For 2017, Grand Duke is represented by the rooster sign.

According to Chinese astrology, everyone is born with an Zodiac animal sign based on the birth year.  These zodiac animals have controlling and nurturing relationship with each other.  This relationship forms the belief of Grand Duke violations. 

For year 2017, the Grand Duke sign is rooster.  Accordingly, people with the following animal signs are regarded as "violating Grand Duke".  We have put the statistics of the Las Vegas mass shooting in the list for easy comparison on the study of Grand Duke effect. 

1. "Fu-yin" or same animal sign of Grand Duke 值太岁-- people with rooster sign
ROOSTER : years born-- 1945, 1957, 1969, 1981,  1993, 2005, 2017   
People with current age (in 2017): 12, 24, 36, 48, 60, 72, 84  
Las Vegas data:  3  cases (age: 24, 36, 48)

2. "Fan-yin" or "clashing" the animal sign of Grand Duke 冲太岁-- people with rabbit sign
RABBIT: years born-- 1939, 1951, 1963, 1975, 1987, 1999, 2011  
People with current age (in 2017):  6, 18, 30, 42, 54, 66, 78, 90   
Las Vegas data:  6  cases (age: 54, 54, 42, 42, 42, 30) 
Note:  This is the most severe condition that may cause severe sickness, injury or death. 

3. "Hai" or "prosecuting" the animal sign of Grand Duke 害太岁-- people with dog sign
DOG:  years born-- 1934, 1946, 1958, 1970,  1982, 1994, 2006   
People with current age (in 2017):  11, 23, 35, 47, 59, 71 
Las Vegas data:  2  cases (age: 23, 35)   

4. "Po" or "damaging" the animal sign of Grand Duke 破太岁---- people with rat sign 
 RAT:  years born-- 1948, 1960, 1972, 1984, 1996, 2008 
People with current age (in 2017):  9, 21, 33, 45, 57, 69 
Las Vegas data:  2  cases (age:  33, 33)

SIMPLE STATISTICAL ANALYSIS
Clashing Grand Duke:  With 12 animal signs and 58 cases, the normal probability should be around 5 incidents of "clashing Grand Duke" here.  The actual result is 6 which is slightly over 10%.  This is consistent with my past analyses of mass shooting that around 10- 15% of victims were "clashing Grand Duke" at time of incident.

Should you be wary of your "clashing Grand Duke" age when you are 24, 36, 48, 60, 72....?  If you look at the data here-- out of 6 cases, only 1 is below age 40 and all are above 40.  This means your probability of getting shot will be higher if you are at "clashing Grand Duke" age and above 40.

Fu-yin or same animal sign of Grand Duke:  The frequency of this condition shows up at half of the "clashing Grand Duke" scenario.  

Prosecuting or damaging Grand Duke:  There are only 2 cases each for each scenario.  However, all 4 cases are under age 40.

CONCLUSIONS
1.  Out of this four violating Grand Duke scenarios, "clashing Grand Duke" has the strongest validity and probably statistically significant with 10%+ frequency, especially when the person is over 40.  This means one has to be more vigilant when attending public events, traveling and the like during one's clashing Grand Duke years (esp. when above 40 years old).
2.  For people under 40, they should be more vigilant when attending public events, traveling and the like during their "prosecuting" or "damaging" Grand Duke years.
3.  When lumping all Grand Duke related cases here, the total is 13 or  22.4% of the deaths are Grand Duke related.  This should raise your alarm level on the validity of the Grand Duke belief.

Bazi Chart of Las Vegas Mass Shooting Gunman: Grand Duke or Yang-knife Effect?

Below is the Bazi chart of the Las Vegas mass-shooting gunman and the day chart when the shooting had occurred.  Birth hour of the gunman is an estimation.

Grand Duke of 2017 is Ding-you or fire-rooster.  Rooster or "You" is metal in nature.  Gunman's daymaster is Geng-metal.  In Bazi, You-metal is the "yang-knife" of Geng-metal.  Accidents, surgery and bloody events are likely to occur when yang-knife is clashed.  The Bazi element that clashes You-metal is Mao-wood or rabbit or simply strong wood formation.

Gunman's current 10-year-luck period is Ji-you (earth-rooster).  This means he had been in a 10-year-luck of yang-knife since 2014.

If you look at the day/hour chart when the mass shooting occurred, you will see:
  1. the year is rooster (You-metal)
  2. the month is rooster (You-metal)
  3. the day is rooster (You-metal)
  4. gunman's 10-year-luck is rooster (You-metal)   
In short, when the shooting occurred, metal was very strong even without considering gunman's 10-year-luck.  You-metal is the yang-knife of the gunman and dislikes being clashed.  Metal stands for guns here.

The likely Bazi reasons to explain this tragedy are:
  • Grand Duke effect:  Grand Duke is clashed in gunman's chart.
  • Yang-knives are clashed:  by chance this year's Grand Duke is also gunman's yang-knife
  • Strong metal is provoked:  strong metal is provoked by wood element or combinations in the chart.

I had found another serious traffic accident with numerous deaths and injuries happened on Sept. 22, 2017 in Hong Kong also had 3 roosters (you-metal) in the day chart.

The lesson here for date-selection is:  Do NOT choose a date/hour with 2+ roosters (You-metals) in the chart.  If you day of travel or event has 2+ roosters, do not go.  Accident resulting in injury or even death may occur.

Bazi: Who will benefit you most?

With Bazi knowledge, you may be able to figure out who will help you or benefit you most if you know their animal signs or birthday.  The term "nobleman" is used in Bazi to represent one's helpful person, mentor and supporter.

1.  People with Chinese zodiac animal sign that combines with your animal sign
-- you are likely to get along with them easily and help each other out.   For example, if your animal sign is rat, people with ox, monkey, or dragon are likely your helpful people.  Below are animal pairs that combine with each other.
  • rat and ox      
  • tiger and pig

3.  People who come from the direction represented by your favorable element are likely to be your "noblemen".   For example, if wood is your favorable element, people coming from east and southeast of your city (or birth place, country) are likely your "noblemen" (Note:  you need Bazi knowledge or find a Bazi reader to figure out your favorable element). 

4.  The transformation star ("10-gods") represented by the favorable element ("yong-shen" or "useful god") of your chart is your "nobleman" or helpful person.    For example, if you are a metal daymaster (DM) and wood is your favorable element-- wood stands for "wealth" for you.  Wealth also represents wife, lover and father.  So these people are likely helpful to you.  Below is the people represented by corresponding transformation stars:
