Annual Luck Pillar Secrets 流年斷事秘訣

 In Bazi, "annual luck" means the prevailing dominant energies of current year.  For example,  2025 is Yi-si or wooden-snake year, the dominant energies are wood and fire.  Every person in the world is under the influence of this wood and fire energy in 2025.

However, these annual energies have different effects on the ten possible daymasters (DM).  For examples, wood energy is a power element to an earth DM,  wealth element to a metal DM, resource element to a fire DM and output element to a water DM and peer element to a wood DM.

Hence, to unlock the predictions about a new annual luck pillar for a person, the first step is to translate the pillar element (e.g., wood, fire, etc.) into transformation stars or "10-gods".

The transformation star in the annual luck stem level indicates what will happen that is visible by the public.  It does not indicate positivity or negativity.  The branch level transformation star will reflect the auspiciousness or inauspiciousness of the likely event.

Generally speaking, if the annual luck branch is the favorable element ("useful element") of the chart, this year will be good for the person.  If unfavorable, this year will be below average.

Annual luck focus is on the stem whereas 10-years-luck is on the branch for making predictions.  Annual luck is more critical because it is the "final mile" of luck delivery mechanism.  It is also seen as the "trigger" of the event, whether good or bad.

PREDICTIONS BASED ON ANNUAL LUCK STEM   

1.  When annual luck stem is peer star (bi-jian/ jie-cai) and is favorable, DM will get help from peers, coworkers, friends and sibling.  If unfavorable, DM will get lawsuit, lose wealth and bickering due to the same people above.  Also DM may jinx wife and/or father.

2.  When annual luck stem is resource star (zheng-yin/ pian-yin), DM will encounter events represented by resource star, such as study, work, reputation, documents/ contracts, housing, sickness, wealth luck and etc.

3.  When annual luck stem is wealth star (zheng-cai/ pian-cai), DM will see events represented by wealth star, such as money/ finance, wife, father, health (sickness/ injury), work, marital/ relationship problems.

4.  When annual luck stem is power star (zheng-guan/ qi-sha), DM will run into events represented by power star, such as superior/ boss, work, father, husband, career, reputation, legal matters, sickness, injury and etc.

5.  When annual luck stem is output star (shang-guan/ shi-shen), DM will handle events represented by output star, such as displaying of talents like dancing, performance, art exhibition, giving speeches, publishing; children, employees, investment, planning, illness/ injury, legal problems, sickness, injury and etc.

For more accurate predictions, the annual pillar should be read with the 10-year-luck pillar and natal chart together.

Bazi: Family Member Jinxing Bible 克六亲八字

This is another straight talk to find out if one jinxes his/ her family member-- father, mother, sibling, wife or children.  "Jinxing" here means a person's qi or energy is antagonistic or does not get along with the energy of a certain family member.  

BAZI CHARACTERISTICS OF FAMILY MEMBER JINXING

1.  Jinxing father 克父:  Regardless of gender, chart with strong daymaster (DM) due to strong peer stars (bi-jian, jie-cai), especially when -wealth star (pian-cai, father) is being penalized or clashed or controlled without any nurturing-- DM jinxes father.

2.  Jinxing mother 克母:  Regardless of gender, chart with strong wealth stars (zheng-cai, pian-cai), especially when +resource star ( zheng-yin, mother, use pian-yin if no zheng-yin available) is being penalized or clashed or controlled without any nurturing-- DM jinxes mother.

3.  Jinxing wife 克妻:  Male chart with strong peer stars (bi-jian, jie-cai), especially when +wealth star (zheng-cai, wife) is being penalized or clashed or controlled without any nurturing-- DM jinxes wife.

4.  Jinxing husband 克夫:  Female chart with strong output stars (shi-shen, shang-guan), especially when +power star (zheng-guan, husband; use qi-sha if no zheng-guan available) is being penalized or clashed or controlled without any nurturing-- DM jinxes husband.

5.  Male jinxing offspring 男克子女:  Male chart with strong output stars (shi-shen, shang-guan), especially when +power star (zheng-guan, children for male DM; use qi-sha if no zheng-guan available) is being penalized or clashed or controlled without any nurturing-- DM jinxes his children.

6.  Female jinxing offspring 女克子女:  Female chart with strong resource stars (zheng-yin,  pian-yin), especially when -output star ( shi-shen, children for female DM; use shang-guan if no shi-shen available) is being penalized or clashed or controlled without any nurturing-- DM jinxes her children.

7.  Jinxing sibling 克手足:  Regardless of gender, chart with strong +power stars (zheng-guan, qi-sha), especially when peer star (bi-jian, jie-cai) is being penalized or clashed or controlled without any nurturing-- DM jinxes his/ her sibling.

This "jinxing" may be manifested in poor communication/ relationship, low luck, chronic illness and even death to that family member if the jinx is serious.

Day pillars that are prone to marital disharmony 婚姻不顺日柱

A Bazi natal chart consists of  year, month, day and hour "pillars" derived from the birthday and birth hour of an individual.  Each pillar has a "stem" and "branch".  The stem of day pillar represents the "daymaster" (DM) or the chart owner.  The branch of day pillar is the "spouse palace" which represents DM's spouse.  Bazi reading sometimes uses only the day pillar to predict a person's marital blessing or problems.

Please check the Appendix below if you do not know how to calculate your day pillar.

There are 60 possible day pillars.  The list below shows specific day pillars that tend to have more marital problems and disharmonies: 

1.  Day pillar with yang-ren (yang-knife): hurts or jinxes spouse

Male day-pillars with Ren-zi and Bing-wu; female with Ding-si and Gui-hai-- have unsettling marital relationship.   If the branch element is unfavorable-- DM's spouse may be maimed or even died.  If favorable, spouse is helpful but still prone to disability or chronic illness.

 

2.  Day pillar sits on peer star (bi-jian/ jie-cai):  spouse is prone to affair

DM sits on peer star means someone similar to DM sitting in spouse palace with your spouse.  This means spousal infidelity.   Here are the day pillars sitting on peer star:  Jia-yin, Yi-mao, Wu-chen, Wu-xu, Ji-wei, Ji-chou, Geng-shen and Xin-you.

However, if peer star is favorable, this means DM and spouse are united, helpful and sharing same ideals.  If unfavorable, spouse likes to cheat and gives money to his/ her lover.

3.  Day pillar with stem and branch battling each other: disharmony

Since day stem represent DM and day branch the spouse.  When this stem and branch battle each other means disharmony and lacking effective communication.  Here are the day pillars with battling stem and branch:  Jia-shen, Jia-xu, Yi-you, Bing-shen, Ding-you, Wu-yin, Geng-yin, Xin-mao, Ren-xu and Gui-wei.

Battling stem and branch with hidden combination:  This means even the couple does not get along well,  they nonetheless put up with each other due to this hidden combination.   Here are the pillars with hidden combination between stem and branch:  Ding-hai, Wu-zi, Xin-si, Ren-wu, Ji-hai and Gui-si.

4.  Female Day pillar with +output (shang-guan) stem

+Power star (Zheng-guan) is the husband of a female DM.  +Output star "hurts" +power star and sits in spouse palace means jinxing husband.  Day pillar with +output branch are: Jia-wu, Yi-si, Geng-zi and Xin-hai.

Female DM with yang day-pillar stem sitting on -output star (shi-shen) is also considered as hurting husband star.  Here are the yang day pillars with -output branch: Bing-chen, Bing-xu, Wu-shen and Ren-yin.

APPENDIX: FIND A PERSON'S DAY-PILLAR AND DAYMASTER

1.  Log in to www.bazi-calculator.com

2.  In the right-side of the screen panel box, select "Ken Lai Method".  No need to bother with anything else.3.  Key in the guy's birthday and hour in the left side of the screen.  Ignore the right side screen for "date to compare".
4.  Click the "calculate" box to get results.
5.  Scroll down the screen and see his Bazi chart in the left side with a table similar to the one here.
6.  The first box of second column (the one with "day master" in it) shows the elemental nature of his daymaster  (example here is geng-metal in grey color).  Below are the colors of 5 elements:

• Metal (Geng and Xin) in grey color 

• Wood (Jia and Yi) in green color

• Water (Ren and Gui) in blue color

• Fire (Bing and Ding) in red color 

• Earth (Wu and Ji) in yellow color

"5 breakages" in life 人生五破

 What are the "five breakages" in life?

1.  Peer breaks wealth star  (比劫破財, Bi-jian/ jie-cai breaks zheng-cai/ pian-cai):  problem keeping wealth, losing wealth, jinxing father/ wife, poverty

2.  Wealth breaks resource star (財破印,   Zheng-cai/ pian-cai break zheng-yin/ pian-yin):  jinxing mother, low academic achievement, lust, too many desires, tainted reputation

3.  Resource breaks output star (印破食傷,   zheng-yin/ pian-yin break shang-guan/ shi-shen):  jinxing children/ husband, lacking talent

4.  Output breaks power star (食傷破官,    Shang-guan/ shi-shen break zheng-guan/ qi-sha):  jinxing husband, losing career, law violation 

5.  Power breaks peer star/ daymaster  (官破比劫 / 日主,    Zheng-guan/ qi-sha break bi-jian/ jie-cai or daymaster):  weak health/ personality, feels suppressed

These "5 breakages" are major undesirable life events.  When one has few of these breakages in his/ her Bazi chart,  his/ her life is regarded as having a "good or smooth life." 

However, under certain conditions, these "5 breakages" could be positive!  For example, when #1 of the above occurs, it would be beneficial to have #5 showing up to neutralize the negative effect.

One Pillar Bazi: Marriage Prediction

Today is your lucky day!  After reading this post, you can predict one's marriage life in general without knowing much about Bazi. 

Here are the step by step procedures:
1.   Use the birthday the person and convert it into a Bazi natal chart with 4 columns.  Each column is called a "pillar".  Our focus is on the day-pillar (see Appendix below for simple procedures to do it). 
2.  Write down the name of the day pillar from the Bazi-Calculator output (see Appendix).  In the Appendix below the example day pillar is geng-shen.
3.  Match the entries below and read explanations.

KEY TO DAY-PILLAR AND MARITAL BLISS
Day-pillar consists of two parts.  The upper part is the day-stem or daymaster which represents the chart owner.  Lower part is the day-branch or "spouse palace".  It represents the spouse of the daymaster (DM).  This method checks which star occupies the spouse palace to determine marital bliss of the chart owner.

1.  Great and happy marriage for male daymaster with wealth star (zheng-cai/ pian-cai) in  day-branch (spouse palace).  Wealth star stands for wife for a male DM. If wealth star is favorable, the male may get wealth from wife or her family.  If DM is a female, the marriage is also above average because wealth star nurtures power star (husband star for female).  There are eight day-pillars in this category:
-- yi-chou, yi-wei, bing-shen, ding-you, wu-zi, ji-hai, geng-yin and ren-wu.

2.  Great and happy marriage for female daymaster with power star (zheng-guan/ qi-sha) in day-branch (spouse palace).  Power star stands for husband for a female DM. If power star is favorable, the husband is famous with high status.  If DM is a male, the marriage is also above average if he is a strong DM.  There are eight day-pillars in this category:
-- jia-shen, yi-you, ding-hai, ji-mao, geng-wu, xin-si, gui-chou and gui-wei. 

3.  Good and happy marriage for female daymaster with resource star (zheng-yin/ pian-yin) in day-branch (spouse palace).  Resource star stands for mother or older generation.  Resource star in spouse palace means spouse nurturing DM.  Hence it will be a happy and blissful marriage for both male and female DM. There are twelve day-pillars for this category:-- jia-zi, yi-hai, bing-yin, ding-mao, wu-wu, ji-si, geng-chen, geng-xu, xin-chou, xin-wei and ren-shen.

4.  Different outcomes for female and male daymaster with output star (shang-guan/ shi-shen) in day-branch (spouse palace).  Output star nurtures wealth star (wife for male DM).  Output star is favorable when DM is strong.  Hence for strong male DM with output star in spouse palace will have an above average marriage but poor relationship if this male DM is weak.  Output star hurts power star (husband for female DM).  Hence, marital relationship will be bad if female DM has output star sitting in spouse palace.  There are nine day-pillars in this category:
-- jia-wu, yi-si, bing-chen, bing-xu, ji-you, geng-zi, xin-hai, ren-yin and gui-mao.

5.  High divorce rate for both female and male daymasters with peer star (bi-jian/ jie-cai) in day-branch (spouse palace).  Peer star controls or "snatches" wealth star (wife for male DM) and drains power star (husband for female DM).  Hence people with this peer star in spouse palace have higher divorce rate.  There are twelve day-pillars for this category:
-- jia-yin, yi-mao, bing-wu, ding-si, wu-xu, ji-wei, ji-chou, geng-shen, xin-you, ren-zi and gui-hai.

6.  Incorrect yin-yang days are inauspicious for marriage.  Both male and female born in these days will remarry.  There are 12 "Incorrect yin-yang days" (阴阳差错日):
--  bing-zi, ding-chou, wu-yin, xin-mao, ren-chen, gui-si, bing-wu, ding-wei, wu-shen, xin-you, ren-xu and gui-hai. 

7.  This two day-pillars jinx spouse:  jia-chen and ji-xu


Appendix:  How to find the day-branch of a person
1.  Go to http://bazi-calculator.com/

2.  Type in the birthday and gender (F or M) in the input table in the left side.
3.  Click "CALCULATE" box
4.  Check the left color table below the input table.  See the example here:
5.  The third color column (counting from right to left) is the day branch of the person.  It is "Geng-shen" in this example of someone born in June 24, 1990.

Wife Jinxer: Two tigers in a Bazi chart

Note:  The article below was written for my Bazi groups in last October.

Today is your lucky day.  Here is a so-called "Blindman secret".

When there are two tigers (yin) in a natal chart and no ram (wei) and pig (hai) to "feed" the tigers, these are "hungry tigers" (rat, rooster, dog and monkey can't be tiger food).

If there is pig and ram in the chart, these tigers are called "stomach-full tigers".  "Stomach-full tigers" do not hurt people.

Hungry tigers will hurt people, but is limited to male charts-- jinxing wife, most likely to death.  Female chart with hungry tigers won't hurt people. 

双虎排下，饿虎出身；女命无妨，男主克妻。

其使用条件是有养叫饱虎，无养叫饿虎，那么什么叫有养，无养？就是命局中有鼠、鸡、狗、猴为无养，只有猪和羊能养着虎，也就是说八字中有猪羊的，虎不伤人；其他都为饿虎。男命俩饿虎定主克妻，十之八九是克死。

 

For your future mate-selection jobs (or for your own children), make sure the male suitor's chart has  "stomach-full tigers" if there are 2 tigers in the chart. 

 

Ken's comment:  "Female chart with hungry tigers won't hurt people" because women are smarter-- keeping the poor man alive to work his behind off OR divorcing him to collect alimony.  Dead husband does not get her paychecks.

This article still draws discussion this month.  One female member told me that she was lucky to have escaped her ex with hungry tigers chart.

Bazi: Secret Dating Guide for Women

The "Secret dating guide for men" post is one of the top 3 most popular posts in this blog month after month.  Being an equal opportunity discriminator, I write up the corresponding guide for women.

Similar to the "Secret dating guide for men", this guide is a negative guide-- what not to pick.  It will help women identify unfaithful men, horny dogs and wife-beaters with Bazi.

Don't worry about not knowing anything about Bazi (or 4-Pillars).  The appendix below will show you how to calculate the "day branch" of your potential partner.

This dating guide shows you a list of male daymasters (DM or your potential mate) born in certain days of the year. Women may want to think twice before taking the marriage vow with these men.  Men born in the days listed below are likely to be unfaithful husbands/ partners or simply jinxing their wives (not in absolute sense, still need to see other elements in his chart or consult a Bazi reader).  

BAZI CHARACTERISTICS OF UNDESIRABLE MALE PARTNER
Match the "day pillar" (birth day) of your potential mate to see if his chart has any of the following characteristics.  
 
1.  Male chart with numerous or strong pian-cai (-wealth) elements
-- "Pian-cai" (-wealth) stands for unstable love or affairs and mistress/lover.  Chart with numerous "pian-cai" means this man (DM) is likely fickle in love, lusty and disloyal.   If you find 2 or more "pian-cai" elements in a man's chart, you probably should walk away.  Table below shows you how to spot "pian-cai" in a chart. 

• Jia-wood DM with wu- and/ or chen-/xu-earth in chart 
• Yi -wood DM with ji- and/ or chou-/wei-earth in chart
• Bing-fire DM with geng- and/ or shen-metal in chart
• Ding-fire DM with xin- and/ or you-metal in chart
• Wu-earth DM with ren- and/ or zi-water in chart
• Ji-earth DM with gui- and/ or hai-water in chart
• Geng-metal DM with jia- and/ or yin-wood in chart
• Xin-metal DM with yi- and/ or mao-wood in chart
• Ren-water DM with bing- and/ or si-fire in chart
• Gui-water DM with ding- and/ or wu-fire in chart

2.  Chart with strong output star/s chasing wealth stars

-- Output stars means "shang-guan" and "shi-shen".  They represent DM's desire and impulses (and also sex organ!).  Strong output stars in a chart means DM has strong sexual desire and is impulsive.  If the chart has weak or no power star to control this desire, DM is likely be a lustful person, especially if output star is with wealth star in the same pillar. 
Output stars for:

• Jia-wood DM are:  bing-, ding-, si- and wu-fire 
• Yi-wood DM are:  bing-, ding-, si- and wu-fire
• Bing-fire DM are:  wu-, ji-, chen-, xu-, chou- and wei-earth
• Ding-fire DM are:  wu-, ji-, chen-, xu-, chou- and wei-earth 
• Wu-earth DM are:  geng-, xin, shen- and you-metal
• Ji-earth DM are:  geng-, xin, shen- and you-metal
• Geng-metal DM are:  ren-, gui, zi- and hai-water
• Xin-metal DM are:  ren-, gui, zi- and hai-water
• Ren-water DM are:  jia-, yi, yin- and mao-wood
• Gui-water DM are:  jia-, yi, yin- and mao-wood 

3.  DM with numerous peer stars
-- Peer stars means "bi-jian" and "jie-cai" which stand for friends, sibling and colleagues.  In Bazi, there is a saying of "peer stars snatch wealth".  Wealth means wife.  A strong male DM with numerous peer stars is likely "sharing" ("involuntarily" or unknowingly) a women with other men or simply jinxing wife (or wife runs away with another man!).  Besides, men with strong peer stars are likely have a impulsive personality and are possessive toward their spouses.  They are also potential wife-beaters if chart has no power star to control the peer stars.  Peer stars of:

• Jia-wood DM are:  jia-, yi, yin- and mao-wood
• Yi-wood DM are:  jia-, yi, yin- and mao-wood
• Ding-fire DM are:  bing-, ding-, si- and wu-fire
• Bing-fire DM are:  bing-, ding-, si- and wu-fire 
• Wu-earth DM are:  wu-, ji-, chen-, xu-, chou- and wei-earth 
• Ji-earth DM are:  wu-, ji-, chen-, xu-, chou- and wei-earth 
• Geng-metal DM are:  geng-, xin, shen- and you-metal
• Xin-metal DM are:  geng-, xin, shen- and you-metal
• Ren-water DM are:  ren-, gui, zi- and hai-water
• Gui-water DM are:  ren-, gui, zi- and hai-water

4.  DM with "jie-cai" peer star in day branch or spouse palace
-- Day branch is the spouse palace of a person.  "Jie-cai " or peer star controls "cai" or wife and sits in spouse palace means jinxing wife.  This means divorce, disharmony, wife is chronically sick or wife dies prematurely.  Think twice if your potential husband has any one of the following day pillars:

• Jia-yin, Yi-mao, Bing-wu, Ding-si, Wu-xu, Wu-chen, Ji-chou, Ji-wei, Geng-shen, Xin-you, Ren-zi and Gui-hai days 

5.  Spouse palace is clashed in the natal chart
Day branch is the "spouse palace".  When it is clashed, it means unstable marriage or jinxing spouse.  This clash could be between month and day branch or day and hour branch.  Below are the six possible clashes:

• zi-wu  (rat and horse clash)
• mao-you  (rabbit and rooster clash)
• yin-shen  (tiger and monkey clash)
• si-hai  (snake and pig clash)
• chen-xu  (dragon and dog clash)
• chou-wei  (ox and ram clash)

The follow branch interactions are also unfavorable to marriage:
a.  self-penalties between day/month and day/hour (chen-chen, hai-hai, you-you, wu-wu (horse))
b.  3-penalties between branches and luck periods (yi-si-shen, xu-chou-wei, zi-mao)
c.  when 10-year-luck period clashing day-branch

6.  DM with strong metal and water
-- DM with strong metal and water implies strong kidney and sexual desire (and likely extra-marital activities).  This is especially likely to happen when DM is metal.  "Strong" means DM has 2+ metal and 2+ water elements in the chart.

7.  DM with strong fire and hot earth
This means a chart with mostly fire and hot earth (wei- and xu-earth).  DM has strong urge and hyperactive sexual desire that "normal" marital life may not satisfy his demands (and goes for extra-marital sex).  Generally speaking, people born in summer months of si, wu and wei have strong fire and earth in their charts.  

If your man hits one of the above, you may not need to dump him.  But if he hits 3+ of the above, consider yourself lucky for reading this post (and run away from the guy fast).  But you may want to consult a Bazi reader and take a Bazi course before dumping a guy.

Appendix:  How to find the day-branch of a person
1.  Go to http://bazi-calculator.com/
2.  Type in the birthday and gender (F or M) in the input table in the left side.
3.  Click "CALCULATE" box
4.  Check the left color table below the input table.  See the example here:
5.  The third color column (counting from right to left) is the day branch of the person.  It is "Geng-shen" in this example of someone born in June 24, 1990.
