Bazi: Family Member Jinxing Bible 克六亲八字

This is another straight talk to find out if one jinxes his/ her family member-- father, mother, sibling, wife or children. "Jinxing" here means a person's qi or energy is antagonistic or does not get along with the energy of a certain family member.

BAZI CHARACTERISTICS OF FAMILY MEMBER JINXING

1. Jinxing father 克父: Regardless of gender, chart with strong daymaster (DM) due to strong peer stars (bi-jian, jie-cai), especially when -wealth star (pian-cai, father) is being penalized or clashed or controlled without any nurturing-- DM jinxes father.

2. Jinxing mother 克母: Regardless of gender, chart with strong wealth stars (zheng-cai, pian-cai), especially when +resource star ( zheng-yin, mother, use pian-yin if no zheng-yin available) is being penalized or clashed or controlled without any nurturing-- DM jinxes mother.

3. Jinxing wife 克妻: Male chart with strong peer stars (bi-jian, jie-cai), especially when +wealth star (zheng-cai, wife) is being penalized or clashed or controlled without any nurturing-- DM jinxes wife.

4. Jinxing husband 克夫: Female chart with strong output stars (shi-shen, shang-guan), especially when +power star (zheng-guan, husband; use qi-sha if no zheng-guan available) is being penalized or clashed or controlled without any nurturing-- DM jinxes husband.

5. Male jinxing offspring 男克子女: Male chart with strong output stars (shi-shen, shang-guan), especially when +power star (zheng-guan, children for male DM; use qi-sha if no zheng-guan available) is being penalized or clashed or controlled without any nurturing-- DM jinxes his children.

6. Female jinxing offspring 女克子女: Female chart with strong resource stars (zheng-yin, pian-yin), especially when -output star ( shi-shen, children for female DM; use shang-guan if no shi-shen available) is being penalized or clashed or controlled without any nurturing-- DM jinxes her children.

7. Jinxing sibling 克手足: Regardless of gender, chart with strong +power stars (zheng-guan, qi-sha), especially when peer star (bi-jian, jie-cai) is being penalized or clashed or controlled without any nurturing-- DM jinxes his/ her sibling.

This "jinxing" may be manifested in poor communication/ relationship, low luck, chronic illness and even death to that family member if the jinx is serious.

"Rough destiny" or "Meng ying" 命硬

In traditional Chinese society, there is a saying of "meng ying 命硬". It literally means as "hard or rough destiny".

For examples, after someone has married, his or her spouse died unexpectedly soon after OR a new baby was born and his parents soon suffered major misfortune or even death. Consequently, this person or baby lives a miserable and lonely life. People may comment the person or baby involved as "meng ying". This implicitly accuses the person and baby "jinxing" their close relatives and themselves.

Another scenario would be: you may find some old people survive through wars, famines, severe illness/ injuries and misfortune, their family members are mostly dead, yet they still are alive but alone and may be even in destitute. Due to improvement of social welfare in modern societies, a modern version would be the same old people survive alone in institutions when all or most of their family members have died.

A more colloquial use of "meng ying" is to describe someone who escapes major disaster like being the the lone survivor of an airplane crash or battalion during wartime.

Strictly speaking, there is no such thing as "meng ying" in Bazi. The closest concept to "meng ying" is "strong daymaster with no support 身旺无依". This means a chart has a very strong daymaster (DM) with no wealth and power stars to drain it (but failing to become a special profile chart). This chart type usually associated with monk/nun/ Daoist or clergy people in traditional society and poor/ destitute people in modern society

CHARACTERISTICS OF "ROUGH DESTINY" CHART

1. The daymaster has relatively indomitable survival ability or "unsinkable"-- hard to die. S/he suffers frequent setbacks and misfortunes, but s/he usually can overcome or escape from death in catastrophes.

2. It implies "jinx", especially "loneliness jinx", jinxing self, parents and family members. DM is also likely a loner in nature. The "loneliness" here refers to the lacking of family relationship because DM's family members are either dead or separated.

There are two types of "rough destiny":

a. Solitary rough destiny (孤独命硬): This is the "strong daymaster with no support 身旺无依" type mentioned above. Summary meaning is: being poor and alone and likely with longevity.

b. Prosperous rough destiny (富贵命硬): This also has a strong DM chart but with good structure and/ or favorable luck periods. DM is alone eventually (jinxing family members) but s/he enjoys wealth and fame/ power with big ups and down in life. China's late Chairman Mao is an example of this type.

"Ghost"-- Cat Edition

My 12 year old ginger cat Tiger had crossed the rainbow bridge a few weeks ago. I had buried him in my backyard under a small tree. This tree becomes his memorial.

I took out garbage at midnight yesterday because I forgot the follow morning is our weekly garbage collection day. While I had pushed the garbage container to the curb side, I heard some faint meow noises from the backyard.

The meow sounds became louder and louder. I had looked toward the sound source with a little apprehension. Suddenly I saw a ginger cat showing up from darkness.

My heart had almost stopped and felt chills in my spine. My first thought was "Tiger comes back? Cat ghost?"

This cat had stared at me and followed me into my garage.

He looks like Tiger in terms of fur color and physical size. He had walked around and "inspected" the garage. I got some cat food for him to eat.

He did not eat much. Unlike a homeless or stray cat, this is a clean and well-fed cat.

I had read stories about heart-broken pet owners getting a replacement pet out of the blue after their pets had passed. They attribute it as a "gift" or reincarnation of the deceased pet. Is this my turn?

While I was pondering should I let this cat meet my resident cat in the house, I had discovered that he has a red collar around his neck with a tiny pendant.

I took out the collar and read the pendant. "*PUMPKIN* Outdoor Cat 123-456-7890"

The area code of the phone number is my district. This is a neighborhood cat named Pumpkin!

Pumpkin had rolled on the floor for tummy rubs and petting. It had played with me for a few minutes.

Then Pumpkin had stared at the garage door.

I opened the garage door to let Pumpkin go. He had looked at me for a few seconds and disappeared in the darkness.

I guess my cat Tiger had taken over Pumpkin's body to see me one last time before moving on. He had passed while I was sleeping.

UPDATE: May 11, 2025

My son returned home around mid-night today. A ginger cat had followed him into our garage. It was Pumpkin again-- almost at the same time 1 year and 1 days ago. He seems to recognize me. I had played and petted him for around 10 minutes and let him go. Is this another sign from Tiger?

Bazi discussion on Shinzo Abe's assassination

On the date of this tragic event, I had posted the birth chart and date chart of the assassination in my Bazi discussion groups. Here is the question that I asked my students:

"Can you point out the Bazi factors leading to this shooting?"

Here are some of the responses: (colored texts are my comments)

Response#1. "Abe’s DM is geng. The combination of yin wu and xu produced a strong fire at the current summer season and it’s lured out by the Bing at the hour pillar. The fire attacked the DM geng. Doesn’t help that his current luck pillar is also geng chen."

"Would it be a different scenario if there was earth to protect the metal? And thus, not succumbing to his injuries? "

If you look deeper, not enough earth left to drain fire; also there is a catch-22 here. This is obviously a strong DM. Supporting elements are unfavorable. Earth can turn fire into supporting element but making DM even stronger.

Response#2. 1) Hour both fire elements, probably is the cause of death - 2 fire shots.

You may look at it this way. There are two yin-wu-xu fire 3-unities in the big chart. Two wu can be seen as double-shoots to Abe.

Bing harms Geng (2 Bing = Bang Bang)

Incident day hour Bing controls geng DM, plus incident day branch xu clashed day-branch chen. DM'a day-pillar was attacked from top to bottom.

2) 10Y luck pillar Geng Chen clash with Day pillar Geng Chen. (Fu Yin)

Yes, but fu-yin is not clash. DM is likely strong DM, so this fu-yin is unfavorable.

Also interesting to note during Wu Yin 10Y luck pillar he take office as PM

This is a yang-ren (-peer) chart, with qi-sha and resources, likely to be high rank official

3). Shooting also happens during Ren Xu day - clash with Geng Chen (Dog clash Dragon)

4). Tiger - Dog - Horse (san he combination) but I don't understand the effect of it

Fire became much stronger than metal and burned it

5). A lot of earth on the day he died

Not really, look deeper, a major secret hidden in this case!

Response#3. "BTW, I'll chip in with 3x commanding pillars adding authority to Fire power clash, earthquake clash 2x Chen vs 1x Xu, Wu-Wu self-penalty, competing Wei-Wu-Wu combination, You-Xu harm, Xu-Wei damage/penalty day, Ren+Ding make Wood to strengthen Fire, Earth dry and cracked, no support for Geng. Didn't look at Shen Sha for Knife's or anything though, just throwing everything at the wall and see what sticks 😊"

Response#4. "If he was in a fu yin luck pillar, that's a big one. If the hour was Bing, that's a clash. The Xu, Yin, Wu combo could also take him out.

Yes...agree. Think he was a good man. Will fight for injustice, deep thinker, got along well with other, but also knew who he was. So sad."

Response#5. Others have already made some good points so I won't duplicate here. I think the keys are Fu Yin, Yang knife clashed and just too much Fire clash (7K). Too unstable.

The Rooster is already pulled between the two Dragons. Does that compromise the combination that protects him from yang knife?

By theory, this is a "jealous combination" resulting in no combination. This becomes chen-chen self-penalty

Tiger year is also attacking the Dragons.

The Dog clashes the Dragon.

The Horse attacks the Rooster.

The timing of the event pulls in the Rabbit which clashes the Rooster (yang knife). The chart becomes unstable.

The Tiger and Dragon attract Rabbit: 寅卯辰

Gong-ju 拱局 with mao-rabbit happens only when yin and chen are next to each other.

Rabbit is also attracted in by 未, 午, and 戌

The shooting has to do with differences about ideology? The shooter is offended by him? I think the Rabbit is the invisible player here.

Mao is +power (zheng-guan) to a Geng DM, this would be a lawsuit if mao and not an assassination

The Water is too weak and compromised to protect him.

Water in this case "provokes" or "instigates" strong fire.

Response#6: Chart and current time create two flows of elements fire has two combinations--Wei (month)-Wu (chart) and Wu-Yin-Xu -fire; and the combination of Chen-You (chart) metal and 10LP Geng-Chen fu-yin; fire metal fight explosion-shot of a weapon; Water is the element of resolution; Water is present but combination Ding (month)/ Ren day and year turns into wood or trapped elements. Gui in his chart produces wood (depleted); wood produces fire and then fire can strikes metal. And Bing Wu time and chart Geng in the month of You yang-ren!

Above discussions have pretty much listed all the possible interactions in the birth chart with the incident date chart. But which factors or interactions are the main attributes to this assassination? Could this be prevented if a date-selection or Bazi reading is done before the event? Triple tigers days, Quad-tigers chart babies and saving people with monkey branch charts

Below is an exercise for my Bazi groups.

The year of water-tiger will come in a few days. The first month of this solar year coincidentally is a water-tiger month.

I have discovered an interesting situation-- there will be three "triple-tigers day" or "three Quad-tigers hour" in this tiger month.

Here is a fun game for you (you will run away if I say "question")-- below are the charts for both male and female babies born in these 3 days. I already did the hard work creating the charts for you. (Click picture to enlarge)

Out of the 6 charts above, which one will you choose to have your baby born at that date?

PEOPLE WITH SHEN-MONKEY IN THEIR CHARTS

How can you find if you have any monkey in your chart? Click the following link and key in your birthday and hour. Click the "Calculate" button. Scroll them to check the chart at left side and look for any grey color box with "Monkey" label on it.

Now comes to the life-saving part-- if your chart has only one shen-monkey, imagine it is being clashed by 3 or 4 tigers (4 if you are stupid enough to travel at 3 am in the morning); it could be serious injury or even death!

If you have more than one monkey in your chart-- it is even worse because with more monkeys, they will not "surrender" but battle with the tigers and consequently causing more damages! An extreme scenario is one with 4 monkeys in his chart-- all branches will be clashed and the person may die.

If unfortunately your chart with monkey/s also has a si-snake, either in the natal chart or from luck period, you hit the yin-si-shen 3-penalties jackpot-- common misfortunes are traffic accident, severe injury/ illness or losing big wealth.

3-Penalties quite often jinx daymaster's (DM, the chart owner) close relatives (and DM too). How do you estimate who gets hit in your family? (answer is in one sentence is in my Bazi groups discussion, but if you have read my past blogs about pillars, the answer is there).

People with monkey in their chart will be better off avoiding traveling in the "triple tigers days". The chance of running into misfortune is high, especially if your current luck is on the low side. If you can find a missile silo near you, hide yourself there for the "triple tigers day".

If you are a member of the positive thinking club, here is your good news-- 3-penalties may bring sudden fame and wealth to people though statistically speaking, x_;_x happens more often than goodies. I shall blog about the joy of Year of Tiger in near future to keep you "positive".

When can we say goodbye to COVID-19?

It has been 2 years since COVID-19 shows up and makes our lives miserable. Most of us want to know when we can return to our normal routine. Here is a non-scientific prediction based on elementary Chinese metaphysics.

If you have no patience to read all the jargons and arguments, skip to the red boldfaced paragraph below to see the conclusions.

PREDICTION BASED ON CHINESE CALENDAR AND 5-ELEMENTS THEORY

Chinese calendar is based on a 60-years cycle. Each year is assigned a "stem" and "branch" with its 5-elements nature. "5 elements" refer to the interplay between metal, wood, water, fire and earth energies. Chinese metaphysics believes all living things are controlled by this interplay of 5-elements energies.

In Chinese metaphysics, COVID-19, a respiratory disease, is represented by metal and water elements. Below is a rough year-by-year 5-elements analysis:

2019 is Ji-hai year or earth-water in 5-elements theory. It means this year was dominated by earth and water energies. This year had provided a favorable environment for COVID-19 to spread.
2020 is Geng-zi year or metal-water in nature. It means this year was dominated by metal and water energies which were extremely favorable to the spreading of COVID-19.
2021 is Xin-chou year or metal-earth in nature. Earth nourishes or produces metal in 5-elements theory. It means this year is dominated by strong metal energy. Metal stands for respiratory organs like lungs.

How about 2022? Could it be the end of COVID-19?

2022 is Ren-yin year or water-wood in nature. Water energy is still strong in this year. So COVID-19 is likely not retreating.
2023 is Gui-mao year or water-wood in nature. Gui-water is "yin" (as in yin-yang) water. It is the "yin-est" branch element and associated with dirty water and sickness. From this alone, I predict COVID-19 will be still around with us in 2023.
2024 is Jia-chen year or wood-earth in nature. No water or metal element to flame the virus in this year. Therefore, I guess COVID-19 will finally be over or at the least under control in this year.
2025 is Yi-si year or or wood-earth in 5-elements theory. No water or metal element in this year.

PREDICTION BASED ON "EARTH MOTHER CLASSIC"

I have checked "Earth Mother Classic" (地母經) To find supporting material for my analysis. This ancient classic contains 60 predictions in poem form for the 60 years cycle of the Chinese calendar. It was first known in 1883. The contents was allegedly transmitted from the Earth Mother Goddess to the public through a psychic medium during divinations in her Shan Xi province temple ( 陝西漢中府城固縣之地母廟飛鸞傳經 ). It makes annual predictions about agriculture, horticulture, aquaculture, silkworms, pests, pandemic, weather, human and natural disasters. Annual predictions are put in the first page of each year's Chinese Almanac (see 2022 predictions in Chinese here).

For 2020, "Earth Mother Classic" had predicted "many citizens meet sudden deaths" ( 人民多暴卒 ) and mass burials (山頭起墓田).

For 2021, this Classic had predicted "Diseases have tampered off slightly " ( 疾病稍紛紛 ). "People recover gradually" (人民漸蘇息 ). "Epidemic shrinks back gradually among livestock" (六畜瘴逡巡). "Only half of the people survived" (人民留一半). The last prediction does not mean half of humanity had died but "a large number of people had perished". In reality over 5.4 million people had perished globally since COVID-19 appeared (as of end of 2021).

For 2022, this Classic had predicted rising prices or inflation in modern terms (桑葉不堪貴). "Though people are happy and prosperous, (人民雖富樂 ) livestock suffer serious mishaps" ( 六畜盡遭凶 ). The last one may be interpreted as infectious disease originated from livestock got transmitted to human (bird flu is found in Israel at end of 2021).

For 2023, this Classic had predicted "people suffer numerous diseases " ( 人民多疾病 ). "Rampant epidemic arise among livestock" (六畜瘴煙起 ) and inflation will be here (桑葉雖然貴). This implies the epidemic will still be around in 2023.

Earth Mother Classic has made quite accurate predictions for year 2020 and 2021. There are no predictions about epidemic and diseases for year 2024 and 2025 in the Classic except inflation will still be high in these 2 years.

Based on my "5-elements analysis" of the years above and "Earth Mother Classic" predictions, I conclude COVID-19 may not subside until year 2024. 2022 and 2023 do not look optimistic.

詩曰︰太歲壬寅年，高低盡得豐。春夏承甘潤，秋冬處處通。
蠶桑熟吳地，穀麥益江東。桑葉不堪貴，蠶絲卻半豐。
更看三秋裡，禾稻穗重重。人民雖富樂，六畜盡遭凶。
卜曰︰虎首值歲頭，在處好田苗。桑柘葉下貴，蠶娘免憂愁。
禾稻多成實，耕夫不用憂。

癸卯年　1963．2023．
詩曰︰太歲癸卯年，高低半憂喜。春夏雨雹多，秋來缺雨水。
燕趙好桑麻，吳地禾稻美。人民多疾病，六畜瘴煙起。
桑葉枝上空，天蠶無可食。蠶婦走忙忙，提籃泣淚悲。
雖得多綿絲，盡費人心力。
卜曰︰癸卯兔頭豐，高低禾麥濃。耕夫皆勤種，貯積在三冬。
桑葉雖然貴，絲綿更有工。

甲辰年　1964．2024．
詩曰︰太歲甲辰年，稻麻一半空。春夏遭淹沒，秋冬流不通。
魯地桑葉好，吳邦穀不豐。桑棄末後貴，相賀好天蟲。
估賣價例貴，雪凍在三冬。
卜曰︰龍頭屬甲辰，高低共五分。豆麥無成實，六畜亦遭迍。
更看冬至後，霜雪落紛紛。

乙巳年　1965．2025．
詩曰︰太歲乙巳年，高下禾苗翠。春夏多漂流，秋冬五穀豐。
豆麥美燕齊，桑柘益吳楚。天蟲筐內走，蠶娘哭葉空。
絲綿不上秤，疋帛價更高。
卜曰︰蛇頭值歲初，穀食盈有餘。早禾莫令晚，蠶亦莫令遲。
夏季麥苗秀，三冬成實肥。
