Bazi: Meanings of Luck Period Fu-yin Different Pillars (伏吟)

In Bazi and Feng Shui, Fu-yin means "identical" or "duplicate". For example, if a Bazi chart has two identical pillars or just two identical stems or branches, that pillar or element is called "fu-yin".

Depending on the contexts, Fu-yin has multiple meanings. There are Fu-yin meanings or implications in terms of pillars, stems, branches, illness, family members, 10 transformation stars ("10 gods") and luck periods.

In this post, we just cover the Fu-yin meanings of luck periods. This includes annual luck and 10-year-luck periods.

WHEN LUCK PERIOD FU-YIN (is identical to)

Hour pillar: traveling, long trips, pregnant, giving birth
Resource star (zheng-yin/ pian-yin): changing residence, job relocation
Wealth star (zheng-cai/ pian-cai): losing/ gaining wealth, wealth-related events, relationship matters, loan given out
Day-branch: one person becomes two (marrying, dating); two persons become one (separation, partner has long trips)
Relative stars (e.g., output, power, wealth..etc): relative getting sick, injury, disaster or death.
Favorable element ("yong-shen/ useful god"): doubles the joy/happiness
Unfavorable element ("ji-shen/ annoying god"): doubles the misfortune, sadness, sickness

Besides doubling the effect, Fu-yin also means repetition, reality does not match expectation or planning, or success slips away in the last minute. This is especially accurate with day-branch.

"Fu-yin" does not always mean negative as long as the element "duplicated" is favorable or at least not negative.
