Missing a transformation star or "10-god" in a Bazi chart

Bazi astrology reading is based on the interplay of the basic 5-elements and the 10 transformation stars or "10-gods" represented by these 5-elements.  It is not uncommon for a Bazi chart missing one or more of the five elements (water, wood, fire, earth and earth).  What are the implications of this missing element or transformation star?

In this article we focus on the missing transformation star first.  10-transformation stars represent a person's social aspects and family linkages like wealth luck, career, siblings, love relationship and the likes.  Missing a transformation star due to a missing element will affect the luck trend represented by that transformation star.

Below are the meanings of missing a certain transformation star in a chart:

1.  Missing  peer stars (bi-jian/ jie-cai):  Peer stars represent one's (daymaster or DM) siblings, friends, co-workers, peer group and sociability.  Missing peer star means DM has poor social skill, problem making friends, indecisive, lacking initiative and vision, following but not taking charge, over-cautious and not generous.

2.  Missing  output stars (shi-shen/ shang-guan):  Output stars represents DM's EQ, smart, talent, imagination, creativity and juniors/ subordinates.  Missing output star means DM lacking talent and opportunity to utilize his/her talent, is ineloquent and not good at generate money.  If DM is a female, may have problem raising kids or lack relationship with her children.

3.  Missing  wealth stars (pian-cai/ zheng-cai):  Wealth stars represents DM's wealth luck, wealth management power and opportunity.  It also represents DM's father.  Missing wealth star means DM lacking money management skills and wealth opportunities, and has little or no relationship/ karma with father.  If DM is a male, may have problem getting married or lacking relationship/ karma with wife.

4.  Missing  power stars (qi-sha/ zheng-guan): Power stars represents DM's social status, executive power, self-control, career and superiors.  Missing power star means DM lacks self-control, inconsiderate, prone to laziness, big swing of ups and downs skills and is difficult to get social approval and recognition.  If DM is a female, may have problem getting married or lacking relationship/ karma with husband.

5.  Missing  resource stars (pian-yin/ zheng-yin): Resource stars represents DM's education, career, family, parents, senior generation and helpful mentors.  Missing resource star means DM lacks relationship with mother, problem getting academic achievement and real estate, instability in career and feeling insecure.   

The above observations focus mainly on the missing star is favorable to the chart.  If the missing element is unfavorable and does not show up, DM may get the benefit of that missing element.  The degree of positivity or negativity due to a missing star also depends on chart composition and whether DM is strong or weak.
