Feng Shui Battle: Flying Scissors Vs. Big Cannon 大炮對飛剪

 

A house owner in China had found his neighbor putting up a pair of sharp scissors and mirror facing his front door.  He had responded with a big cannon pointing at the neighbor.

From the pictures, we can guess how this Feng Shui battle is activated.

The "cannon house" has a big 6 panels RED door with 2 lions guarding.  In terms of Form Feng Shui, this red door looks like a giant bloody mouth engulfing anything in its path to this neighbor.  This might, at the least, subconsciously affects the hormonal health of the neighbor.

Red color is regarded as auspicious in Chinese culture.  However, putting too much or excessive red color in the main door of a house could draw misfortune to its residents.  

Red also represents fire and blood.  Misfortunes like sickness, fire and bloody events when annual star like 2-sickness, 5-disaster or 9-purple fire lands on the door region.  

Could the flying scissors with mirror overcome this strong fire energy?  Of course not.  Fire burns the metal scissors.  The mirror is flat which draws the fire image (and energy) TO the "scissor house".  Hence the "cannon house" does not really need the cannon to counter this flying scissors.  But it helps to drain excessive fire energy by "burning" the metal cannon.

Feng Shui: What does your door-facing enhance?

Door is the main conduit of energy or qi entering into a residence.  There are many methods of evaluate the quality of this energy and what goodies that it brings to the residents.

Today is your lucky day because you will find the rarely published secrets of this door Feng Shui method.

Below are the door facing direction and what it enhances:

1. East-facing door enhances academic pursuits as long as the southeast side of house has no missing corner or caving in.   This house will enhance the academic performance or "wen-chang" of its residents.

Feng Shui: Wealth-losing doors 破财门

Door location and its surrounding critically affect the Feng Shui of a house, especially its wealth aspect.  Below is a list of "wealth-losing doors" based on Form Feng Shui.  How these doors affecting wealth losses is not discussed here to keep this blog short. 

WEALTH-LOSING DOORS
1.  Door facing a corridor (inside a building) or road:  this is also called "heart-piercing sha" (一剑穿心 ).
2.  Door facing a downward or upward stair:  this is called "wealth retreating stair" (退财梯).  Downward stair leaks wealth whereas upward stair loses wealth opportunities to others.
3.  Door facing an elevator:  this is called "qi or energy absorbing stair" (吸气梯).  Qi or wealth energy of a house or apartment is "drawn" away by the elevator.
4.  Two or more doors in a straight-line to end of house or backdoor/ window:  Wealth energy from outside goes straight to outside of house.
5.  Door is too narrow or small, thus limiting wealth energy flow into the house.
6.  Door is damaged, broken or has cracks:  this is called "qi-leaking door" (漏气门) and implying leaking wealth.
7.  "See-three door" (三见门):  "Three" here means seeing toilet, kitchen and mirror when entering through the door.  All are not good for wealth energy.

Remedies for these doors are mostly using screen doors.  Consult a Feng Shui practitioner or take my Form Feng Shui course for remedies.

How to Choose Auspicious door facing for Period 7, 8, 9

Below is the auspicious door facing directions based on Feng Shui Periods:

PERIOD 7 (1984- 2003)
Best for Career and Wealth luck:  West
Second Best:  Northeast
Third Best:  South

PERIOD 8 (2004- 2023)
Best for Career and Wealth luck:  Northeast
Second Best:  South
Third Best:  North

PERIOD 9 (2024- 2043)
Best for Career and Wealth luck: South
Second Best:  North
Third Best:  Southwest

HOW TO CHOOSE?
We are still in Feng Shui Period 8, but Period 9 will arrive in 4 years.  So it all depends on if you plan to move within 4 years or not OR if you want to maximize your wealth and career luck.  Here are the options:

If you want to maximize your wealth luck and move within 4- 5 years.  Choose a northeast facing door.  Move to a south facing door after 2023.

If you hate moving and want a permanent home with a 20 years best wealth luck after 4 years,  choose a south facing door.

"Forever Auspicious Feng Shui" 「三元不敗」風水

Hong Kong's famous Chinese Almanac and Feng Shui grandmaster Cai Ba Li (蔡伯勵) had passed on July 26, 2018 at the age of 96.  Cai was the region's ultra-rich and famous people's "go-to guy" for Feng Shui and date-selection consultations.  Billionaire like Li Ka-Shing was one of his clients.  He had been in the Feng Shui and Chinese Almanac publishing (通勝曆書) business for over 70 years.  Cai's annual Chinese Almanac (aka "Tung Shu") is sold over 1 million copies per year in Asia.

Cai had spent 20 years to plan and build a ancestral mansion in his China hometown. Below description is given by Cai about his mansion.

"This mansion has mountain at the back and river in the front.  There is a theory of changing period luck in Feng Shui.  It stipulates that period luck changes once every 20 years.  This mansion will use the right door as main door when 2024 arrives.  Left door will be utilized in the following luck period.  Current main door is in the middle.  Left, middle and right doors are 15 degrees away from each other.  Timing and locations have all been carefully calculated."
蔡伯勵曾說：「這裏後面有山、前面有河，風水有運氣之說，每20年一轉，2024年後便會用右邊門口，最後才用左邊門，正門在正中，左右各差15度」，「時間及方位全部都有計過」，此乃三元不敗之局。

This is the so-called "forever auspicious Feng Shui formation"  (三元不敗之局).  The secret is adjusting the main door location for each new period!

Door-tilting Feng Shui: Green edition

A student emailed me this a few days ago: "I read about "green" tilting on your blog. Is this covered in your door fengshui course?"

Aging catches up with me, I lost track of what I have written last month and not to mention those written years ago.  I have asked this student for the link of the original article, as shown below:

This article was about door-tilting craze in south-east Asia.  I had bragged about my door-tilting without physically tilting the door and called the technique "green tilt".

My last "green tilt" was done in Singapore in 2006 in a rental property.  My client rented one unit out of the whole building and felt uncomfortable with the energy in the house.  He thought the house might be "unclean". 

Classic fix for situation like this without involving religion is to create an auspicious main entrance.  The auspicious qi will make whatever entities uncomfortable and stay away.

The problem was:  this is a rental unit and tenant is not authorized to physically modify the door location. 

So the only alternative is to do a "green tilt".  No religious stuff involved.  Material cost is almost zero. The door is 100% unchanged but the angle was somehow changed to bring in the auspicious qi.

A few years later, this client moved to another place.  His dog suddenly barked fearfully as if seeing some "visitors" when he  took down the "green tilt" item.  Dogs can see ghosts and spirits.  The house reverted back to former energy state that is attractive to other "entities".

"Ken, are you going to tell us the 'green tilt' secret?" 

The only clue I can give you is that the method is based on one of the Feng Shui systems in my "Practical Door Feng Shui for Wealth" course.  Many Feng Shui masters and carpenters may lose significant income if this "green tilt" method is made public.  I cannot afford to owe them this giant karma debts.

My advice would be: avoid door-tilting, especially if this is a residence.

Feng Shui features that attract mean people 犯小人风水

"Xiao ren" or "little people" is the Chinese term for mean people, backstabbers and gossipers -- people who make your life miserable or blocking your progress in life.

Common Feng Shui features that attract mean people are:

1. External negative energy (sha-qi) like T-junction, heaven-chopping sha, and other form sha.
2. Missing corner in home or office, especially SE or NW side.
3. Overhanging beam above your seat or bed
4. Door facing door, whether with your neighbor's door or door facing door inside your home or office
5. Window behind sofa, bed or office chair (no support or helpful mentor)
6. "Yin" plants with thorns like roses, cactus, climbing plants/ vines
7. Clutters and  garbage accumulation in your home or office
8. Sleeping or sitting in the annual 3-wood star location (2018 in NE, 2019 in south, 2020 in north).  This star stands for disharmony and mean people.

Some remedies or cures for the above are from simple to difficult.  The easy ones are simply removing or relocating the offending Feng Shui items.  For the difficult ones, please consult your Feng Shui teacher or take the following course for cures or remedies:

Using Feng Shui to "manage" your husband 御夫风水

Originally, I want to use the word "control" instead of "manage".  But "control" sounds manipulative and politically incorrect....

Ladies!  Today is your lucky day if your husband drives you nuts or bosses you around.  The cavalry is coming to your rescue with this little taught husband management Feng Shui.  It is based on simple Form Feng Shui theory of green dragon and white tiger (not elaborated here, take my "Visual Form Feng Shui" course if you want to know more).

FENG SHUI FEATURES THAT MAKE YOUR HUSBAND DOMINANT
1.  Too many furniture is put in the left side of your house
Fix:  move some furniture to the right side of your house; make it a balance if you want an egalitarian relationship
2.  Most activities taking place in left side of your house
Fix:  arrange more activities to the right side of your house
3.  Bedroom door is in left side of bed
Fix:  move your bed so that the door is at the right side
4.  Bedroom location is close to a road with traffic
Fix:  relocate your bedroom
5.  Stove has no support mountain (back side of stove is a window)
Fix:  relocate your stove to place it with a wall at its back
6.  Husband sleeps close to window side or open side of the bed (this will increase his peach-blossom and authority)
Fix:  switching sleeping location with husband 
7.  Toilet in southwest side (SW represents woman of the house)
Fix:  stop using this toilet or at least keeping it clean

STRUCTURAL PROBLEMS FOR MALE-DOMINANT FENG SHUI
Below house features will contribute to male chauvinism to a marriage.  Avoid these features when buying a house.  If you already bought the house, consult a Feng Shui teacher or take my "Visual Form Feng Shui" course for remedies.

• Southwest side of your house is a missing corner
• Northwest side of your house has a big protrusion
• Left side of your house is much bigger than right side
• House on top of a hill (no support and makes husband more dogmatic)

Smart men can see this is a BOGO article with "wife management Feng Shui" already embedded.  Simple do the opposite of the list above, like change right back to left or northwest to southwest.

Below is a list of inauspicious Feng Shui images that you do not want to see upon entering one's house or at the door.

1. Greet by a wall-- may cause obstacles in life and declining luck
2. See a mirror-- deflects away good energies coming into the house and absorbs negative energies into the house
3. See a toilet--  greeting guest with foul energy; attracting bickering and disharmony among family members 
4. See a stairs--  leaking energy and wealth
5. See bedroom--  attracting lust and affairs
6. See the kitchen-- causing lawsuits, wealth losses and hot temper
7. Walks under heavy beam over the door--  disunity among family members and dwindling luck
8. See the balcony through the door-- leaking qi or energy, hurting people and failure to accumulate wealth and keep people in the family
9. See 3 doors in a straight line--  "sword piercing heart sha" that hurts people and loses wealth
10. See piles of shoes/ garbage-- negative qi suppresses residents' luck; difficult life for the residents and attracting "mean people" or backstabbers.
11. See objects like knife, sword, gun, tiger, snake and etc.-- unsettling family with bloody events and lawsuits

Most of the above are under traditional Form Feng Shui area.  Consult a Feng Shui practitioner for remedy or take this course:

Matching door-facing to your Chinese zodiac sign

Matching your Chinese animal sign to the main door of your house will enhance your luck and well-being.  Based on the theory of matching residence and ming-gua (宅命互配),below is the favorable and unfavorable door-facing in terms of animal signs:

You can find your animal sign by matching your birth year with the following list.  Use the animal sign of previous year if your birthday is between January 1 to February 3rd.  For example, if you were born in February 1st, 1961, you animal sign is rat and not ox.

More reasons why your house does not accumulate wealth

I have written on this topic a few weeks ago and here are some more reasons that a house does not accumulate wealth for its residents (all pictures are taken from "Advanced Visual Form Feng Shui" video course):

1.  Seeing backdoor from the front door location:  Energy, including wealth qi, is leaking through the backdoor.  This situation is also called "heart-piercing sha" in Form Feng Shui.

2.  Missing dragon side:  There is no house or "dragon" in the left side of your house.  Dragon means "helpful people/mentor".  This could also mean there is a big missing corner in the left side of your house or the left side is much lower than the right side.

3.  Houses at the dragon (left) and tiger (right side) of are much higher (2 storeys+) than your own house.


4.  There is no back support like another building or mountain for your house.  This means the residents lacks courage to take risks, lacks support and problem accumulating wealth.

5.  Sloping "ming-tang" or front yard.  Ming-tang stands for the wealth potential of a house and it slops away means problem keeping wealth.

6.  "Roll-away curtain water 卷帘水" in front door:  When one sees a long stairway once stepping out from the front door, the stairway is called "roll-away curtain water".  It means losing wealth and children leaving home and do not return.

7.  "Dragon water exits":  When there is a road (with traffic) at the left side of the house and the left front side also has a road sloping to the left-- this is called "dragon water exits".  This means helpful people go away.

Practical Door Feng Shui for Wealth: Introduction

Note:  The following is an excerpt from "Practical Door Feng Shui for Wealth" video correspondence course.

WHY DOOR IS IMPORTANT?

Door, especially main door, is where people walk in and out, brings in good or bad energies.  Door is like the nose and mouth of a human being— needs nose to breath in fresh air and mouth to eat food to absorb life-sustaining nutrients.

Human being is smart, s/he can move his nose to breathe in fresh air and stay away from pungent smells; and goes where clean and good food is available. 

However, the main door of a house, a building, an office or factory, is not “smart” or moving by itself area with good energy or qi.  It all depends on the owner’s luck if s/he set the door in a good energy region.

“Auspiciousness and misfortune are attributed to movements”, written in Yi-jing.  Luck, be it good or bad, is due to movement in the right place or wrong place.  To increase your prosperity, you add move movements in areas with good energy (like 8-white earth star during Period 8) and avoid movements in areas with bad energy (like 5-yellow disaster star).

Door is important because it is the linkage between outside and inside energies.  It is also the platform where most movements occur when people walk in or out of the house.  As stated in previous paragraph, movement at any region of the house, depending on the nature of energy in that region (positive vs. negative) will affect the luck of its occupants.

So if main door has good energy, then occupants will enjoy good fortune.  If otherwise, they will suffer misfortune.  We have a popular saying in feng shui, "If the main door of a house worth 1000 pieces of gold, then the house only worth 4 pieces."

Here is what Master Chiang Dai Xiong, the famous Xuan Kong master who had written “Water Dragon Classic”, commented about the significance of door:

“Main door controls the prosperity and future of a family.”

“Bedroom door controls the lives of a couple.”

“You see effects after modifying a door.”

“Door is the skeleton of a house and paths are the tendons. Both should be auspicious to bring prosperity.  If door is auspicious but paths are not, then the consequences are still negative.”

The basic principle of door placement is simple:  put the main door in region with current timely water star (like 8 during Period 8) with Flying Star or put it in a Period 8 (for current period) gua line.

“Paths” means the roads leading to doors. Road should bring in “timely” or auspicious qi or energy of current Period, just like the door.

The Latest Feng Shui Hammer-- Tilt-O-matic?

In my 2007 blog article "Feng Shui Hammer and Xuan Kong Flying Stars", I had written:

"If you give a kid a hammer, pretty soon he will try to do everything with a hammer...In the Feng Shui world today, the Feng Shui hammer is Xuan Kong Flying Stars (Feng Shui). To some people, XK Feng Shui is the universal key to any Feng Shui problem."

Six years later, I have discovered a new trend for another version of "Feng Shui Hammer" that is not restricted to one Feng Shui school or method.  

This "hammer" generalizes the Feng Shui remedy of door-tilting to different aspects of Feng Shui. I call this method "tilt-O-matic" because its core method is tilting anything towards the so-called "auspicious qi" or angle.

Door-tilting itself is no major secret and easy to understand-- if your door sits on an inauspicious angle, you tilt it to the nearest available auspicious angle.  Ideally the nearest angle to the current one will match the requirements for as many Feng Shui methods (like Bazhai, San-He, XKDG and etc.) as possible.

In certain southeastern Asian countries where large population of ethnic Chinese reside, you can see tilted doors easily.  My Feng Shui pals in these countries told me that door-tilting is almost a must in any Feng Shui audit or your clients will think they don't get their money's worth.

The next derivative from door-tilting is stove-tilting, used mainly in Bazhai Feng Shui. 

Some inventive folks out there bring out the "tilt-around-the-house" motto and generalize this method to tilt balcony doors,sliding doors,apartment doors, doors inside a house or office or even tilt a balcony-- applying tilting to whatever Feng Shui methods like Flying Star, XKDG and the like.

Their next top secret invention probably will be tilting house windows and maybe even garden walls. I guess toilet seat, fridge door, bath tub and water basin are all fair games for them. 

"Ken, how valid is this tilting approach?"

I don't know when I do not get paid to answer or argue for controversial topics like this one.  But I can tell you that when I visit many ancient towns and villages in China,including the emperor's home (Forbidden City), I have not seen a tilted door yet. 

I have seen tilted doors that were done in the last 10- 20 years in China and Hong Kong.

Chinese Feng Shui emphasizes balance and symmetry.  Anything tilted will disrupt the balance state. Tilting does not seem to match these basic Feng Shui principles.

In Feng Shui, main door represent the mouth of a house.  A tilted door is like a person with a crooked mouth.  It is the "form" for stroke resulting in a crooked mouth.

There are teachers who swear by the tilted door remedy and also the ones who are apprehensive of door-tilting.  My own sifu are mostly against using it for aesthetic and safety reasons.  Non-residential buildings probably can have tilted doors because people do not stay there longer than 8- 10 hours and likely are moving around.  My sifu do not recommend tilting door for residential properties because people sleep there at night and absorb whatever qi coming in.

On a psychological level, a tilted door is a constant reminder to the residents that "this is an auspicious door that will bring me good luck". This daily positive affirmation will enhance the intention power of the residents to make things "happen". 

"Ken, do you do door-tilting Feng Shui remedy?"

Yes, I do "green tilting" that does no damage to the wall or environment and does not need a carpenter. However, I do it only when there is no alternative.

"Can you elaborate?  Does it work?"

Sorry, I cannot elaborate. This is a little secret in my school. Somehow it works too.

Door Feng Shui

A Feng Shui friend sent me the following email:

My sister wants to build a new house, so it will be a P8 house.

The plot faces N2 so the Flying Star chart can meet the criteria for a "7 Star Robbery", so according to this, she should place a door/window at the South, East and NW.

According to "Castle Gate" the Qi entrance should come from NW2.

According to the San He "12 Life Stages" a NW2 Qi entrance would be either at stage 3 or 4, so it is good, but my question is if the door must be placed at NW2, but facing N2 (same bearing as the plot) or if the door should be slanted facing NW2?


My friend tries to integrate Flying Star, "7-star Robbery", "Castle Gate" and San He's "12 Life Stages" to the house design.

I think he is making things too complicated. Although he can mix as many schools and methods as he wants if he has my "Practical Door Feng Shui" course materials. He can also easily integrate XKDG and Flying Star in 30 seconds.

"Practical Door Feng Shui" also includes the "decoders" for the word-play puzzles like the "Qian mountain Qian water" gig. Someone considers this little word-game as lineage "top-secret" on other lists. It does not worth a penny if you know the answer.
