Feng Shui Battle: Flying Scissors Vs. Big Cannon 大炮對飛剪

 

A house owner in China had found his neighbor putting up a pair of sharp scissors and mirror facing his front door.  He had responded with a big cannon pointing at the neighbor.

From the pictures, we can guess how this Feng Shui battle is activated.

The "cannon house" has a big 6 panels RED door with 2 lions guarding.  In terms of Form Feng Shui, this red door looks like a giant bloody mouth engulfing anything in its path to this neighbor.  This might, at the least, subconsciously affects the hormonal health of the neighbor.

Red color is regarded as auspicious in Chinese culture.  However, putting too much or excessive red color in the main door of a house could draw misfortune to its residents.  

Red also represents fire and blood.  Misfortunes like sickness, fire and bloody events when annual star like 2-sickness, 5-disaster or 9-purple fire lands on the door region.  

Could the flying scissors with mirror overcome this strong fire energy?  Of course not.  Fire burns the metal scissors.  The mirror is flat which draws the fire image (and energy) TO the "scissor house".  Hence the "cannon house" does not really need the cannon to counter this flying scissors.  But it helps to drain excessive fire energy by "burning" the metal cannon.

Missing a transformation star or "10-god" in a Bazi chart

Bazi astrology reading is based on the interplay of the basic 5-elements and the 10 transformation stars or "10-gods" represented by these 5-elements.  It is not uncommon for a Bazi chart missing one or more of the five elements (water, wood, fire, earth and earth).  What are the implications of this missing element or transformation star?

In this article we focus on the missing transformation star first.  10-transformation stars represent a person's social aspects and family linkages like wealth luck, career, siblings, love relationship and the likes.  Missing a transformation star due to a missing element will affect the luck trend represented by that transformation star.

Below are the meanings of missing a certain transformation star in a chart:

1.  Missing  peer stars (bi-jian/ jie-cai):  Peer stars represent one's (daymaster or DM) siblings, friends, co-workers, peer group and sociability.  Missing peer star means DM has poor social skill, problem making friends, indecisive, lacking initiative and vision, following but not taking charge, over-cautious and not generous.

2.  Missing  output stars (shi-shen/ shang-guan):  Output stars represents DM's EQ, smart, talent, imagination, creativity and juniors/ subordinates.  Missing output star means DM lacking talent and opportunity to utilize his/her talent, is ineloquent and not good at generate money.  If DM is a female, may have problem raising kids or lack relationship with her children.

3.  Missing  wealth stars (pian-cai/ zheng-cai):  Wealth stars represents DM's wealth luck, wealth management power and opportunity.  It also represents DM's father.  Missing wealth star means DM lacking money management skills and wealth opportunities, and has little or no relationship/ karma with father.  If DM is a male, may have problem getting married or lacking relationship/ karma with wife.

4.  Missing  power stars (qi-sha/ zheng-guan): Power stars represents DM's social status, executive power, self-control, career and superiors.  Missing power star means DM lacks self-control, inconsiderate, prone to laziness, big swing of ups and downs skills and is difficult to get social approval and recognition.  If DM is a female, may have problem getting married or lacking relationship/ karma with husband.

5.  Missing  resource stars (pian-yin/ zheng-yin): Resource stars represents DM's education, career, family, parents, senior generation and helpful mentors.  Missing resource star means DM lacks relationship with mother, problem getting academic achievement and real estate, instability in career and feeling insecure.   

The above observations focus mainly on the missing star is favorable to the chart.  If the missing element is unfavorable and does not show up, DM may get the benefit of that missing element.  The degree of positivity or negativity due to a missing star also depends on chart composition and whether DM is strong or weak.

Common approaches to Bazi analysis

 Below are common approach to Bazi or 4-pillars analysis:

1.  Shen-sha or symbolic stars:  This approach uses only shen-sha like void, Tian-de/ Yi-de Nobleman, peach-blossom, Bloody Knife, yang-ren and the likes to examine a chart.  This approach is not popular because it lacks logical consistency and theories.

2.  10 Transformation stars (or 10- Gods):  This method uses concepts shang-guan, zheng-guan, bi-jian and the likes to analyze a chart without consideration of 5-element variations and chart profile (格局).  This approach is also not popular.

3.  Temperature adjustment:  This approach compares the relative strength of the daymaster to other stems and branches within the chart.  It utilizes the temperature adjustment element and 10-transformation stars meaning to analyze the chart.  This is most common method seen in modern Bazi books.

4,  Temperature adjustment mixing with other approaches like divination, ZWDS, shen-sha, face-reading, na-yin and the likes.  This approach is quite popular lately.

5.  Chart profile (格局):  This approach uses the controlling and nurturing relationship between 5-lements to dissect a chart.  The strongest element is the "profile" element.  It does not consider temperature adjustment or the relationship between this profile and daymaster.

Each of the above approach has its own advantages and disadvantages.  Each uncovers a piece of the whole picture.  It is quite common to see people utilize one or more of the above approaches in their Bazi analysis.

Physical Misfortune: Injury vs. Sickness 伤灾与病灾

Physical misfortune here refers to bodily harm attributed to the interactions or specific conditions of 5-elements inside one's birth or Bazi chart.  This bodily harm is further distinguished by whether it is a "sickness" or "injury" caused by this Bazi condition.  Both sickness and injury could possibly lead to death, but in general, injury could result in quicker death like in an auto accident.

The question arises:  How do we tell if the physical misfortune of a chart is an "injury" or "sickness"?

This article is written for my "Sickness Bazi" course members.  Here I show you how to identify potential injury misfortune in a Bazi chart reading.  This one is more complicated than spotting out sickness misfortune.

CHARACTERISTICS OF INJURY MISFORTUNE

This is characterized by two elements with strong energy battling each other without a mediator to dissipate the animosity.  For example, a chart with strong water and fire elements but no wood to mediate.

Below is a list of 2-elements battling and possible injuries:

1. Metal and wood battling:  limbs, tendon, bone and head external injuries
2. Wood and earth battling:  skin and muscle injury; injury from falling object
3. Wood and fire battling:  burn by fire or hot object, also bloody injury
4. Metal and fire battling:  bleeding injury with scars later on.
5. Water and fire battling: bleeding, burnt and traffic accident.
6. Earth and water battling:  landslide or flooding injury/ death; drowning

Sickness misfortune is much easier to discern.  Smart readers here could have figured out already.  If not, take this course:

Simple method to read overall lifetime luck with Bazi

Today is your lucky day because I will show you a quick and easy method to read overall lifetime luck trend with Bazi.

In Bazi or 4-pillars reading, each pillar represents diverse meanings as follow:

YEAR PILLAR REFLECTS:
-- Parental palace
-- Luck between age 1- 16 (teen)

MONTH PILLAR REFLECTS:
-- Sibling palace
-- Luck between age 17- 32 (adult)

DAY PILLAR REFLECTS:
-- Stem is the daymaster/ branch is spousal palace
-- Luck between age 33- 48 (middle age)

HOUR PILLAR REFLECTS:
-- Children palace
-- Luck between age 49- 60  (old age)

To find the luck trend of each of the above life period, you need to find or calculate the followings first:

1. Favorable element ("yong-shen" or "useful god")-- element that "balances" the chart
2. Supporting element ("xi-shen" or "happy god")-- element that supports or nurtures the favorable element
3. Unfavorable element ("ji-shen" or "annoying god")-- element that controls the favorable element.
4. Vengeful element  ("chou-shen" or "vengeance god")-- element that supports or nurtures the unfavorable element
5. Trivial element ("xian-shen" or "trivial god")-- element that does not matter to the balance of the chart. 

For example, if the favorable element of your chart is wood (supporting will be water), unfavorable is metal (vengeful element will be earth) and trivial element is fire. 

Assuming you have a chart like this one (in terms of elements):

YEAR:  wood/ metal
MONTH:  fire/ fire
DAY:  metal/ wood
HOUR:  water/ earth 

You figure out the overall luck by checking if there is any favorable or supporting element in each pillar.  For example, year pillar in the above chart has both a favorable and an unfavorable elements.  This indicates that this person was born in a pretty good or stable family and then had suffered declining family fortune in late teen.  Month pillar is occupied by trivial element fire.  This means nothing special or just "so-so" luck during the 17- 32 age period.  The best time probably is between age 33- 48 because favorable element wood is in the spouse palace.  This also indicates s/he may have a good or helpful spouse.  Hour pillar is occupied by a supporting element first and then a vengeful element.  This means above average luck in first half and then below average luck in second half during old age.  This person has both good and not so good children.

This method is a rough estimate of overall luck trend.  You still need to take into consideration of 10-years and annual luck to make more accurate predictions.  You can use the same method to evaluate luck periods too.

A million or just 5 ways to die?

The movie "A million ways to die in the west" was shown in 2014.  But Chinese metaphysics likes to keep things simple (albeit sometimes) and reduces the million ways to 5 ways.  That is, it groups different ways of death and injuries in terms of 5-elements-- wood, fire, earth, metal and water.

Below is taken from the reference manual of my upcoming course, "Applied Bazi:  Sickness Forecasting and Management".  It also shows the likely cause of the death, injury and potential illness in terms of certain excessive element in one's Bazi chart-- all in a few sentences!  This is typical of all my course manuals for rapid transfer of knowledge to the students.


EXTERNAL INJURIES AND DEATHS IN TERMS OF 5-ELEMENTS

Hurt by wood element  (excess wood in 4P)

-- hanging (suicide), beaten by stick, stricken by thunder, crushed by falling tree and injury due to "being sandwiched" in-between two objects

Hurt by fire element  (excess fire in 4P)

-- fire disaster, burnt (touching a hot object), burned by fire, eye sickness, heart and blood problems and vomiting blood

Hurt by earth element  (excess earth in 4P)

-- earthquake, falling rocks, caving-in, mining disaster, collapsing mountain/ building and falling down from mountain

Hurt by metal element  (excess metal in 4P)

-- traffic accident, injury by metal objects (knife, sword, etc.) and surgery,

Hurt by water element  (excess water in 4P)

-- drowning, boating accident, suicide by drowning, blood diseases and flooding

There are some methods to reduce the likelihood or severity of these hurtful events as shown in my "Destiny and Luck Management with Bazi" courses.

Secret of Mark Zuckerberg's Closet

Yesterday Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Facebook, has posted a photo of his closet with only grey color T-shirts and black hoodies.  The mass media, from TV news, newspapers, websites, tweets to blogs, have a field day of poking fun at Mark.  The media try to explain why Mark likes grey color-- using utilitarian, nerd, genius to psychopath explanation.

This is a piece of cake if explaining it in terms of Chinese astrology.

Chinese cosmology maintains that the world is created with 5 natural elements-- earth, metal, water, wood and fire.   All living things thrive under the interplay of these 5 elements.  These elements nurtures and controls each other in terms of nurturing and controlling cycles (see diagram in the right).

Chinese astrology like 4-Pillars classifies people in terms of five natural elements-- earth, metal, water, wood and fire.  One's birthday determines his/ her birth element.  Mark Zuckerberg was born in May 14, 1984.  He was born in a strong earth day.  So he is a "strong earth" person. A strong earth person needs metal and water energy to balance his birth chart energy.

For an earth person, metal is his creativity and talent because earth produces metal.  Grey is the color of metal in Chinese metaphysics.  Metal condenses or produces water.  Water color is black in Chinese metaphysics.  Water is the wealth element for an earth person.  In other words, grey color represents Mark Zuckerberg's creativity.  For a strong earth person, he needs to relieve some earth energy to achieve balance in his birth chart.  This means producing metal or using his creativity.  This creativity in turn produces water or wealth.

Therefore, Mark Zuckerberg has picked grey T-shirts and black hoodies that helps to balance the 5-elements energies of his birth chart subconsciously.

Very often, individual picks color objects that will balance the energy patterns of his or her birth chart without making a conscious effort.

Eat your way to prosperity?

The color that you love most is likely your favorable element. For example, if you like red color, your likely favorable element is fire.  Water color is blue or black.  Metal color is white, gray  or golden yellow.

Jersey Color and World Cup Final Predictions

My previous post discusses about using Chinese 5-elements theory to predict World Cup soccer results based on team jersey colors.  With the winding down of World Cup matches,  we have more data to further test the theory.

I will use only elimination matches to test the theory because the calibers or capabilities of the teams left are more uniform than the start of 32 teams.  The followings are the results:

16 TEAMS ELIMINATION MATCHES
Correct predictions based on jersey color:  6 or 75%
Incorrect predictions:  2 or 25%
-- incorrectly predicted matches are: BRA vs. CHI and GER vs ENG   

8 TEAMS ELIMINATION MATCHES
Correct predictions based on jersey color: 3 or 75%
Incorrect predictions: 1 or 25%
-- incorrectly predicted matches are: NED vs. BRA

4 TEAMS ELIMINATION MATCHES
Correct predictions based on jersey color: 1 or 50%
Incorrect predictions: 1 or 50%
-- incorrectly predicted matches are: URU vs. NED

The data shows with 8 teams or more, the accuracy of the 5-elements theory can be up to 75%.  Other hidden data not shown here is that the more equal (in terms of caliber) of the teams in a match, the higher probability that jersey color will determine the outcome of the match.  For example, the semi-final match between Spain (red jersey or fire) and Germany (white jersey or metal)-- fire burns metal and so Germany lost the match.  Jersey color that controls or drains the opponent's "qi" or energy will have a 5- 10% upperhand or advantage, 

Jersey color will not help if the capability differentials of the teams involved are too great.  It helps when both teams are at similar performance level.

"Ken, is there anything that one can do to overcome this color advantage if one's team is assigned with a weak color?"

Sure, there are remedies or cures to handle it, but you need  to take my class to learn it.  There are also other Chinese metaphysics methods that will enhance the "qi" of a team or person by 10- 25%.  My new "Destiny Management" courses can easily be applied to sports and competition scenarios.

As to the final World Cup match, if I am not mistaken, normally one team will wear red or orange jersey and the other wear blue or white color.  Here are my predictions:

• If it is red or orange jersey vs. white jersey,  the red team will win.
• If it is red or orange jersey vs. blue or black jersey, the blue or black team will win.

Before making these predictions, I have eaten an octopus from England which was rumored to be a close relative of Paul the Octopus in Germany.  I hope this will increase my predictive accuracy.

Jersey Colors may determine World Cup results!

I found that the Chinese 5-elements theory is a pretty good predictor of winners for the World Cup semi-finals based on the actual team jersey color during the match.

Chinese 5-elements theory states that the world is made up by the interactions between 5 type of energies;  metal, water, wood, fire and earth.  The relationship between these 5 types of elements are as follow:

• Metal is represented by white color. It is controlled by fire (red), drained by water (blue or black) and nurtured by earth (yellow or brown).
• Wood is represented by green color.  It is controlled by metal (white), drain by fire (red) and nurtured by water (blue or black).
• Water is represented by blue or black color. It is controlled by earth (yellow or brown), drain by wood (green) and nurtured by metal (white).
• Earth is represented by yellow or brown color. It is controlled by wood (green), drain by metal (white) and nurtured by fire (fire).

 Here are the rules for picking the winning team:

• If that team's jersey color controls the opponent's jersey color (example, red will lose to blue) or
• If that team's jersey color drains the opponent's jersey color (white will lose to blue)

How does it work?
Jersey color stands for part of the energy field surrounding the players.  By controlling or draining the energy field of your opponent using appropriate colored jersey, you can enhance the energy level of your own team and weakening the energy level of your opponent.  There are other Chinese metaphysical methods like Qi-Men-Dun-Jia that can increase the odds of  winning by 10- 15% through the use of directional energies.

Plugging this 5-elements theory to June 26 and 27 semi-finals, we have the follow results:

1.  URU vs KOR (blue vs white)

-- blue is water and white is metal.  Water drains metal.  The theory predicts URU will win.

2.  USA vs GHA (white vs red)

-- white is metal and red is fire.  Fire burns or control metal.  The theory predicts GHA will win.

3. GER vs ENG (white vs red)

-- white is metal and red is fire. Fire burns or control metal. The theory predicts ENG will win.  Incorrect for this one.  But June 27th is a strong metal day according to Chinese calendar.
4. ARG vs MEX (blue/white vs green)
-- blue is water and white is metal and green is wood. Metal controls or chops wood. The theory predicts ARG will win.  Besides June 27th is a strong metal day according to Chinese calendar.

Chinese 5-elements theory's predictions are almost 75% accurate for the first two days of the World Cup semi-finals.  How about the next two days?

Assuming the teams will wear their standard team colored jerseys, here are the possible results:

1.  NED vs SVK (red vs blue)
-- red is fire and blue is water.  Water extinguishes fire.  So SVK is likely to win.
2.  BRA vs CHI (yellow vs red)
-- yellow is earth and red is fire.  Earth drains fire.  So BRA is likely to win.
3.  PAR vs JPN (red/white vs blue)
-- red is fire and white is metal; blue is water.  Water drains metal and water extinguishes fire.  So JPN is likely to win.
4.  ESP vs POR (red vs red)
-- it is unlikely that both teams wear red.  The team that wears white is likely to lose because red is fire and white is metal.  Fire burns metal.

5-elements your way to the bank?

I was in Hong Kong last month. While I walked in a subway station, I saw billboards advertising a "5-Elements Money Market Fund".

"Great! More work opportunities for Chinese Metaphysics folks!" I thought.

This morning, Mr. Li Zhao Ji (李兆基), a multi-billionaire, a.k.a. "Asia Stock God"

In the last few years, some well-intended folks are trashing 5-elements applications in 4P, Feng Shui and others.

While there are limits of 5-elements, they are still the cornerstone of Chinese Metaphysics.

5-elements are not just physical metal, water, wood, fire and earth.

To apply 5-elements theory in terms of qi (energy), in terms of actual physical elements or just in terms of symbols, is situation-specific. It is not easy to throw out the 5-element concept without upsetting the whole equation.

Humans and living beings are all under the influence of 5-elements. You either become an immortal or dead when 5-elements stop affecting you.

Well, time for a cup of tea (Darn! Water-element controls me again! Maybe I should draw a Kan hexagram and eat it instead.)
