Love Story of the Year-- Geese Lovers

On last Valentines Day (Feb. 14, 2016), someone in China has posted the pictures of two geese "goodbye kissing" with a poem:

Kissing my love goodbye 与君吻离别，
Sending you off to the village exit 相送到村口，
Sunset stretching our shadows 夕阳长身影，
From now on we are separated forever 自此各天涯！

These pictures become viral in the Chinese internet and are re-posted by numerous news agencies in China. Netizens said these are the most touching photos of 2016 Valentines Day.  They lamented that life is similar to the fate of these two geese lovers.  One wrong turn or incident may end a relationship forever.  "We should treasure the nice people around us now and not after we have lost them."

 
Reporters have located the owner of these two geese-- Miss Deng of Guangdong Province.  Her parents had raised these geese for over a year in their ancestral village.

On the second day of Lunar New Year (Feb. 9, 2016), her father had gifted the female goose to his relative.  Mr. Deng had tied up the goose, put her in a paper box and further wrapped the box with a bag.  He then tied the whole box to the back of his motorcycle.  The male goose was agitated and attempted to untie the strings wrapped around the female goose with his beck.  Miss Deng was very surprised by the male goose's behavior.  His action was very affectionate too.  He also honked sadly as if begging the master to release the female goose.

The Deng family members also felt sad to send the goose off.  But their relative had rushed them to bring the goose for dinner.  Eventually the female goose was delivered to the relative and become part of the new year dinner.

What has happened to the male goose?  He was slaughtered later too.  Miss Deng said her parents will leave the village to the city to work, leaving no one to take care of the goose.  They took care of business by putting him into their stomachs.

Miss Deng hopes that netizens could understand that the final destiny of family raised geese-- becoming food.

Many readers have posted poems to memorialize these two geese lovers.  Some even created follow-up stories with their imagination and Photoshop skills.  Below is one of the popular ones.

While these two lover geese cannot "rest in peace", but at least they are now meeting in geese heaven.  We thank them for teaching us a lesson about love and living our lives.  Maybe this is the mission of their current lifetime.  We pray for them to move on to a higher realm of being in their next lives.

"Brother Sharp"- Fashion Icon 2016 Updates

Note:  I had written about the 4P of "Brother Sharp" in 2010.  It was one of the most read messages in this blog.  Below are recent updates of Brother Sharp.  I have included the original message here for those who have not read it.

"Brother Sharp" 犀利哥 is the nickname given by netizens in China to a homeless man for his chic fashion taste. A photographer took his picture and posted it on the web. He becomes a fashion icon and web sensation overnight. His fame has spread to Taiwan, Japan and even UK's Independent newspaper has an article on him.

Brother Sharp has mental disorder and can barely communicate with people!

Here is some life events of Brother Sharp:

• He was born in Oct. 10, 1976 in a rural area.
• His family is poor. He has a brother and sister.
• He got married, has two boys.
• He became a migrant worker in 2000. He had lost contacts with his family after 3 years.
• His father and wife had died in a traffic accident in 2009.
• He had been roaming around the street of Ningbao city, Zhejiang Province for years.
• In early March of this year, someone took his picture and posted it on the web. The rest is fashion history.

Brother Sharp's natal chart and 10-year luck period form a 3P. In 2009, another Chou (ox) comes to activate the 3P--- wife and father died of traffic accident. Why wife and father got the jinx? (see the answer in 4PBC list)

Interesting thing is the suddenly fame through NO effort of his own-- also due to 3P! But why this happens in Yin (tiger) year and is "positive"? (answer in 4PBC list)

Because of his sudden fame, he has reunited with his family and received assistance from the government. A famous movie director plans to use his image and develop it into a movie. There are already fashion packages based on his look sold in China.

The sad thing is-- after his hair-cut and clean up with "normal"' cloths, people no longer see him as "Brother Sharp". He has lost his "chic".

I have tested his 4P chart using all the possible hours. All except one will give him a real or fake follow wealth chart. But reality shows he is dirt poor with a chart that is full of wealth elements. So it must be a weak chart or he would have been rich. It is a case of "failure to become a special chart" (implies miserable life!). 

BROTHER SHARP UPDATE-- Feb. 2016

Brother Sharp resumes his homeless life.

After Brother Sharp became a "fashion icon" and famous in Feb. 2010, he had worked for a theme park as an "attraction" and also as spokesman for some products.  All marketing plans had failed due to his mental problems.

Owing to his "fame", media people got him free therapy from a mental institution 2013.  But his mental problems persists-- dislikes human contacts, does not bath or change clothing and lacking personal hygiene.  He had left the institution in 2014 and gradually lost contact with his own family members.

An elementary classmate of Brother Sharp had reported seeing him wandering on the streets, picking up cigarette butts and food from garbage cans. He has not been seen for over a year.

The younger brother of Brother Sharp,  Cheng Guo-sheng comments,

" (In 2010) my brother was famous all over the country.  I was given over 100 business cards from media reporters.  But this was just a giant bubble.  My brother's internet celebrity status did not mean anything to him or his life."

Cheng thinks his brother is only lazy and lacking focus in life.

"Like a philosopher or someone who does self-cultivation, he has reached a higher level of consciousness.  But people said he is mentally sick.  Probably he has attained enlightenment and understood the meaning of life.  Maybe he wants to live his life as a vagrant."

Brother knows best about Brother Sharp.

Brother Sharp now lives the "good life" that he cherishes.  He has escaped the media circus and materialism.

Easy Wealth Enhancement with a Bank

Don't worry, I don't mean robbing a bank with this wealth enhancement method.  It is perfectly legal.

The second day of the second lunar month (March 10 for 2016, Feb. 27 for 2017,  March 18 for 2018) is the birthday of Earth God.  There is an Earth God residing in every household.  According to Daoism,  this day is also known as "Dragon-head raising day 龍抬頭日".  It is good for enhancing wealth luck.

Here is how to enhance your wealth luck during this day:

Earth-God

1.  Go to a bank or financial institution near your house or business with a bottle or cup.
2.  Collect water from the bank or financial institution (any one of the following sources)
     -- water cooler
     -- water fountain
     -- restroom tap water
3.  Take water back to your home/ business
4.  Put water into a circular-shaped bowl.
5.  Put a Chinese coin or your local metal coin into bowl center.
6.  Place this bowl of water in the "wealth position" (see below) or on the family safe or cash register location.

"Wealth position" can be current year's wealth stars location (1, 6,  or 8 locations/ east, south, southwest for 2016) or the corner diagonal to your main door.

The rationale behind this wealth enhancement is that water stands for wealth in Feng Shui.  Bank collects money from the public and hence its water represents wealth from different sources. Water collected from a bank symbolizes making money from the public.  Put a metal coin in the water will produce more water (i.e., more wealth) because metal nurtures water in Chinese 5-elements theory.

Bonus tip:  Collect water from different banks (not from same company) will further enhance the power of this method.  Donate some money to charity will make this enhancement work continuously.

Diamond Sutra Vs. Diamond Drill II: Secret of Pain Control

Last October I had blogged about using Diamond Sutra to overcome dental pain caused by dental-drilling.

Yesterday, I have my third dental crown done.  With previous two pain-control experience with Diamond Sutra, I thought this trip should be painless.

Alas!  Life always gives you some surprises (or "sh** happens" in daily language).  Age must be catching up with me after hitting 60,  I forgot the first sentence of the Diamond Sutra while the dentist was drilling my teeth.

While in panic (and pain!), I recite silently the easy-to-remember compassion mantra "Oṃ maṇi padme hūṃ".  But it did not reduce the pain.

Out of desperation, I had recited Diamond Sutra without the first sentence while whacking my brain trying to remember the first sentence of the Sutra.

Amazingly, Diamond Sutra still stopped the drilling pain without reciting the first sentence. Eventually, my brain had recollected the first sentence of the Sutra.

A question come to my mind-- why the shorter Sutra "Oṃ maṇi padme hūṃ" does not work?  Is it too short to keep my mind busy enough to divert its attention to dental drilling?  If this is the case, any longer sutra or prayer from other religions should work too.

As an intellectually curious or dummy,  I had sacrificed myself as an experimental subject to test this hypothesis.   I had stopped recited Diamond Sutra and recited the Catholic "Our Father" prayer.

But....the last time that I had recited "Our Father" prayer was in 1974 when I was a senior in a Catholic high school.  I had forgotten most of it!

Was I in big trouble?

No, it actually worked better in stopping pain while my brain frantically search through the brain cells for the "fragments" of this prayer.  In other words,  this "search" had directed or distracted the focus from the dental pain to the prayer.

"Ken,  I am an atheist.  What can I do instead of reciting prayer or sutra?"

You may try to recite some passages, poems, lyrics ... that you had learned during your childhood or anything that you can barely remember as distraction.  It should work just the same.

This is my little pain control without drugs tips to humanity.  But there is no escape for the pain of paying tax and dental bills. You may help reduce my bill-paying pain by reading my ad below and click the link if you could.

Functions of Horse in Feng Shui

Earlier this month I wrote about seeing a giant metal rooster for sale in the Home Goods Store.  Yesterday I passed by the store to see if the rooster is still around.

Someone must have read my blog and snapped the rooster away to get her spouse in check--  the rooster is gone!  Instead the same place is occupied with a even bigger animal-- a giant meshed-wire horse that almost touches the store ceiling.  This metal-wire horse is made in USA with a price tag of US$799-- a pretty good deal if you have a big lobby or yard to put it in.


Horse is a popular "Feng Shui animal" for enhancement of career luck, wealth luck, mobility and even romance--  because horse by nature is active, moving forward and symbol of strength and persistence.  In the twelve earthly branches, horse is represented by "Wu-fire" which is one of the "4 peach-blossom elements" (Zi, Wu, Mao and You) in Chinese astrology.  Hence it is also capable of boosting romance luck.

1.  Put a horse figurine (any material except plastic) in the "Traveling horse" location of the user OR have the horse facing that direction. Below is the "Traveling Horse" directions:

Precautions for using Feng Shui Horse:
1.  No pregnant woman in the house-- may cause miscarriage.
2.  Do not use this if your Chinese animal sign is rat because it clashes horse.
3.  Do not use if your Bazi day-pillar has "zi" in the branch (unless you want your spouse to have affairs).
4.  The horse used should be dynamic look and not standing still or laying down.
5.  The horse should either facing a door or window.
6.  Don't use too many (8+) horses.  Too many will burn your house down because horse is fire in nature in Chinese metaphysics.

Practical Door Feng Shui for Wealth: Introduction

Note:  The following is an excerpt from "Practical Door Feng Shui for Wealth" video correspondence course.

WHY DOOR IS IMPORTANT?

Door, especially main door, is where people walk in and out, brings in good or bad energies.  Door is like the nose and mouth of a human being— needs nose to breath in fresh air and mouth to eat food to absorb life-sustaining nutrients.

Human being is smart, s/he can move his nose to breathe in fresh air and stay away from pungent smells; and goes where clean and good food is available. 

However, the main door of a house, a building, an office or factory, is not “smart” or moving by itself area with good energy or qi.  It all depends on the owner’s luck if s/he set the door in a good energy region.

“Auspiciousness and misfortune are attributed to movements”, written in Yi-jing.  Luck, be it good or bad, is due to movement in the right place or wrong place.  To increase your prosperity, you add move movements in areas with good energy (like 8-white earth star during Period 8) and avoid movements in areas with bad energy (like 5-yellow disaster star).

Door is important because it is the linkage between outside and inside energies.  It is also the platform where most movements occur when people walk in or out of the house.  As stated in previous paragraph, movement at any region of the house, depending on the nature of energy in that region (positive vs. negative) will affect the luck of its occupants.

So if main door has good energy, then occupants will enjoy good fortune.  If otherwise, they will suffer misfortune.  We have a popular saying in feng shui, "If the main door of a house worth 1000 pieces of gold, then the house only worth 4 pieces."

Here is what Master Chiang Dai Xiong, the famous Xuan Kong master who had written “Water Dragon Classic”, commented about the significance of door:

“Main door controls the prosperity and future of a family.”

“Bedroom door controls the lives of a couple.”

“You see effects after modifying a door.”

“Door is the skeleton of a house and paths are the tendons. Both should be auspicious to bring prosperity.  If door is auspicious but paths are not, then the consequences are still negative.”

The basic principle of door placement is simple:  put the main door in region with current timely water star (like 8 during Period 8) with Flying Star or put it in a Period 8 (for current period) gua line.

“Paths” means the roads leading to doors. Road should bring in “timely” or auspicious qi or energy of current Period, just like the door.

Feng Shui Remedy for Affairs or Mistress

8-feet tall metal rooster

I went to Home Goods department store (USA) here yesterday and saw this giant metal rooster.  It is about 8 feet tall and the price tag is only US$299.  It looks like a Mexican style rooster.  Just shipping cost from Mexico or China to here (mid-west USA) would cost over $299!  This is a great deal except not too many people can stuff an 8-feet tall metal rooster into their homes or yards.

Metal rooster is a popular Feng Shui remedy for:
-- preventing/ combating mistress or affair
-- fixing "centipede sha" that causes stomach problems
-- enhancing wealth luck and making wish come true
-- fixing certain missing corner in a house
-- fixing shortage of metal in one's Bazi chart

I do not want to drive Feng Shui masters out of business here.  So I just tell you how to use metal rooster to fix peach blossom or mistress/ affair problems.  Ask your Feng Shui teacher about how to use other functions of metal rooster.

To prevent or combat mistress or affairs, simply put a brass rooster facing the front door or window (if living in an apartment).  That's it.

Some parents also use this rooster fix if their teenager children run into peach blossom or love affair prematurely.

People with "rabbit" animal sign should not use this remedy because rabbit and rooster clash each other in the Chinese zodiac system.


For the intellectual curious or nosy people,  the theory behind this remedy is based on the Chinese Bagua.  In Feng Shui, 4-jade green star handles peach-blossom and affairs.  It is located in the Xun trigram (SE) region of the Bagua and is wood in nature.  Anything that can control this 4-jade green star should fix this peach blossom problem.  Dui trigram sits in the west region of the Bagua.  It covers xin, you and geng mountains or sectors and all are metal in nature.  "You" also stands for rooster.  This is the rationale for using rooster to combat peach-blossom or illicit affairs.

I know some people may use more than one rooster for "extra strength" or fixing more than one mistress.  Don't be greedy--- two roosters will fight among themselves!

Time to move your Feng Shui monsters and fixes

Although the Chinese Lunar New Year won't come until Feb. 8 for this year, new Feng Shui year officially starts today (Feb. 4, Li-Chun or Spring begins).  Now is the time to move your Feng Shui monsters like ki-lin (move to south to fix San-sha or 3-killings), 5-yellow metal fix (move to NE) and other remedies.

If you do not have a ki-lin or cannot afford one, you can print out the ki-lin picture here.

The picture below is a rare Chinese New Year poster from a few hundred years ago.  It has accumulated tons of mass consciousness about wealth and celebrations.  You may print it out and put it in SW (annual wealth star location) for good luck.
