People around the world are saddened by the news of Sandy Hook Elementary school shooting. Here in America people keep asking "Why?" in the news.
Back in December 2007, I had written about the victims of the Omaha Mall shooting. I had found there is a correlation between "clashing or violating Grand Duke", the dominant energy or "ruler" of the year and the age of victims.
According to Chinese belief, when the zodiac animal sign of the current year is identical to your birth year, you are "violating"
the Grand Duke (the ruling energy or deity of the year).
The Grand Duke of 2012 is Ren-chen or water-dragon. People with dragon zodiac sign are "violating" Grand Duke for 2012. They are likely running into minor obstacles, accidents and sickness during the year.
If your current age is a multiple of 12 (12, 24, 36, 48, 60, 72, 84, 96), you are "violating" Grand Duke for the year.
In 2012, people with dog zodiac sign is regarded as "clashing"
the dragon sign of the Grand Duke for current year.
If your current age is one of the followings: 6, 18, 30, 42, 54, 66, 78, 90, you are "clashing" Grand Duke for the year.
"Clashing" Grand Duke is more serious than "violating". One may likely run into serious accidents and sickness when clashing Grand Duke.
In
Chinese Astrology, like 4-Pillars of Destiny, we always advise people
who clash or violate Grand Duke to stay put, be vigilant and avoid
confrontations.
16 out of the 20 Sandy Hook children victims were born in 2006, the year of fire-dog (Bing-xu). Fire-dog clashes the 2012 water-dragon Grand Duke from head to toe. It is called "fan-yin" or fighting between heaven and earth in 4-Pillar reading. It shakes up the year pillar of a child victim on which his/her current "pillar luck" resides. Year Pillar is the "pillar luck" for age 1 to 16. Serious repercussions may occur if it is clashed when one's age is between 1 to 16.
Two out of the four children victims who were born in 2005 also had Bing-xu (fire-dog) in their month pillar though the probability is 1/60 for such occurrence.
Out of the five staff or teacher victims with birth data available, one has a Bing-xu month pillar and one was born in the year of dog.
Is it pure coincidence or chance that the gunman ran into a Grade 1 classroom with most of the students clashing Grand Duke? Or is it fate?
"Violating" or "clashing" Grand Duke does not necessarily bring you bad luck. It is your "immunity" or resistance to bad luck, misfortune or unknown mysterious energies is weakened. The common advice is avoiding negative people and places with negative energies.
In the case of Sandy Hook,
besides social and psychological factors,
it is more than the force of Grand Duke at work. It is the interplay of regional earth luck, school luck, class luck, Feng Shui energy and individual karma and destinies.
Let's pray for the Sandy Hook victims and their families.

Prediction for two-horses race elections
With the presidential election only one day away, here in USA is the season of political mudslinging AND predictions.
A friend asks me why I do not make election predictions. I had learned my lesson through someone else.
In the year 2000 Gore vs. Bush presidential election, a world famous Feng Shui master had predicted Al Gore the winner. S/he was embarrassed for the wrong prediction and had made up a preposterous reason like s/he was testing the universe.....
It was no big deal or gain even s/he had made the right prediction. A two-horses race with 50/50 chance does not give many brownie points to one's resume. But one may look like an idiot when making the wrong pick.
I don't mean that you should stay away from making public predictions, just do not do these 50/50 chance predictions. Let a monkey or an octopus do it.
Take for another example, at the beginning of this year, a TV Feng Shui magazine (in English) had interviewed quite a few Feng Shui masters to make predictions for the year of Dragon.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=reW9XmH06ec
One of the questions was on the two-horses race election of Hong Kong Chief Executive. Another two world famous Feng Shui masters predicted pro-Beijing candidate Henry Tong will get elected. One was so sure that he had quantified a 99% chance of winning.
I would have picked Henry Tong at that time based on the news that China favored Tong. But a mistress scandal from Tong was uncovered after this TV show was aired. The scandal had turned Tong from a hot candidate to a hot potato for China.
These two world famous masters had lost their bet on this 50/50 prediction. The less scandalous candidate CY Leung was elected.
Unforeseen or unexpected events can easily turn a sure bet prediction upside down.
One of these two masters has predicted that Obama will win this year. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

Life and Death in 4-Pillars
Recently a student wants to know if my "4-Pillars Bootcamp+" course covers "life expectancy" topic.
Here is my answer, "The topic is not covered directly. It is hidden under the chapter on health and sickness. I don't want students to scare people predicting when they will die. A few weeks ago I have written about how modern technology screws up Bazi's/4P predictions of death in the 4P-Bootcamp discussion list. Many sickness that were once not curable 40- 50 years ago are now 'easy fixes'".
The student has replied, "But let me be more precise what I'm looking for. In the book 'Sanming Tonghui' book 7, the chapter 4 is about: 'analysis of long lives and early deaths'. I saw that referenced in another book, but I neither have that ancient book nor could I read it as it is in Chinese. Do you maybe have that translated somewhere ? Or the approach referenced or explained ?" (Note: "San-ming Tong-hui" is a 4P classic written in Ming Dynasty or 1700's)
I have checked this ancient book. It has only a few pages on the topic. The author had referenced other books of the time (1700's) using non-standard methods such as na-yin of the year pillar. No wonder it is not referenced much in modern 4P literature because it is not logical.
4P view of long life and few sickness is pretty simple: When a 4P chart has all the five elements and the flow of qi is smooth, the person will likely live a long life. Of course, this does not take into consideration the effects of karma debts and other factors like geographical locations, which may explain why people with the same birthday live different destiny and died earlier or later.
People with lots of clashes and penalties in their 4P charts are likely to die prematurely. People with strong day-masters are likely to die outdoor (accidents) and weak day-masters are likely to die indoor (sickness).
This student wrote back. "I'd be interested not in an event based 'when which things will happen' approach but in addition to that something more to the point of life expectancy.
In the last few years I had 2 friends who survived a heart attack due to modern emergency medicine. However, 3 month later they died from a completely different, but terminal disease.
Another friend also had a heart attack with temporary death and already survived for a long time. I believe that the length of life is somehow predetermined and if it is your time to go, it is your time to go. You can only extend it by a rather small time (like the first 2 friends I'm referring to)"
Yes, when it is your time to go, you can't escape. There are many stories in Buddhist literature about people who were supposed to die young but not-- because of the good deeds they have done.
"If you can share with me as a bonus how to at least roughly determine the life expectancy, that would be much appreciated ?" The student asked.
This is probably not necessary. Life expectancy is the underlying implication on every 4p reading. You just look for years when "things" will happen. This includes death. But a responsible 4P reader will not say "death" but "hurdle" or "major obstacle in life". So as not to incapacitate or scare the client to death and make it into a self-fulfilling prophecy. After all, 4P is not 100% accurate (or it is a science and not metaphysics). A good 4P reader is to make negative predictions "inaccurate" by steering his clients away from the energies that will make negative predictions happen (this is what my "Destiny and Luck Management" course does mostly).
Birth chart is like your "pre-heaven" blueprint that may not necessarily materialized completely as planned. 4P reader has no control on what you will do with your life (and affects the original blueprint).
Years ago I had a strange business idea of advising life insurance companies to examine insurance policies based on 4P check of likelihood to die young. They will take only people who will be likely to live long and rarely get sick, so that the company can offer good pricing to them. But this is "discrimination" and cannot be practiced in USA.
I would like to quote a famous Chinese saying to end this discussion:
"How can one understand death when living is still a mystery?" (不知生, 焉知死)

Ultimate Feng Shui Secret
From time to time, I have students from different parts of the world asking me to comment or give advice on their "dream home" Feng Shui design.
More often than not, they try to apply ALL Feng Shui methods that they have learned into their Feng Shui design. If they have taken my "Practical Door Feng Shui" course (which has 6+ Feng Shui methods), they will at least try 3+ methods.
In developing countries or more traditional societies, a new house is designed "for life" if not for multiple generations. Their houses tend to be a single house unit and not the multiple floors tall buildings in urban societies. The Feng Shui design for these houses are different from houses in developed countries.
For house that is intended to be a long term (20+ years to lifetime) dwelling, the Feng Shui consideration must be at least 20+ to 40 years or 2 Feng Shui periods. The focus is on long term stability and health.
For houses in societies with rapid economic changes, the Feng Shui consideration will be the immediate 10+ years or one Feng Shui period at most. The focus is on enhancing wealth and moving on to better housing in near future.
My students always complain about contradicting Feng Shui information when multiple Feng Shui methods are applied into their Feng Shui design. It seems that the more one knows about Feng Shui, the more difficult is for him to enjoy good Feng Shui.
So they ask me to play God-- to decide for them which method to take.
I don't want to be God, especially when I do not get paid to be one like George Burns. It is not about money but karma debt picked up when doing free Feng Shui. At the least my students have "exchange of energy" with me (through taking my classes), I can still answer their critical questions in subtle ways. So that they will be playing God themselves.
I tell them which Feng Shui method to use is the ultimate Feng Shui secret. It takes me 20+ years to figure it out.
In fact, I have "leaked" this secret 2 years ago in this blog.
http://kenlaifengshui.blogspot.com/2010/11/feng-shui-secrets.html
Some people may argue that the idea "Blessed land is resided by blessed people" ( 福地福人居) and "Blessed people reside in blessed land" ( 福人居福地) sounds like a tautology or circular reasoning.
This is not easy to explain or it did not take me 20+ years to figure out. I think an example may illustrate the point.
Here is a real story: My Taiwan teacher was invited to Feng Shui a plot and found the land was very auspicious. A few months later, he went back and measure-- the reading had changed. He said the mountain god had taken the "dragon" away. Apparently the client does not have the blessing or may be a "bad" person.
Even in yin Feng Shui (tombs), an experienced Feng Shui master will not choose the best plot or utilize all the good earth qi in that locality for the client-- especially when the client does not have enough blessing (doing good/bad deeds, etc). The client may not be able to handle the big blessing from the plot. He will take whatever is appropriate for his client's blessing. Not utilize all the good earth qi is to share it with future tombs. This is to accumulate good karma for the client.
In short, the influence of Feng Shui on people and vice versa are bi-directional. Individuals can also affect their Feng Shui environment through virtue and altruistic activities. That is, when one is stuck with whatever bad Feng Shui and cannot move away, s/he can improve the Feng Shui environment by increasing the positive energies around him/her. One way to generate positive energies is performing altruistic activities like donating time and materials to charities and serving people who are less fortunate than us.
Regardless of this blessed or not-blessed talk, the first requirement of good Feng Shui design is FORMS, especially the external environmental factors like power towers, chimneys, flyovers, mountains, rivers, drains, and etc. Make sure there are no sha-qi or bad forms surrounding your house. Recently a student with a new home to design Feng Shui, has taken my "Advanced Visual Form Feng Shui", emailed me:

Introducing "Advanced Visual Form Feng Shui" Video Correspondence Course
This course goes beyond the simple white-tiger and green-dragon model and applies powerful form Feng Shui techniques to modern environment. This course is very visual oriented with extensive illustrations, photographs and video clips for easy and quick learning.
COURSE DESCRIPTIONS
Originally, Feng Shui was just Feng Shui. There were no different schools of Feng Shui.
Over the years, Feng Shui practitioners have developed two major classifications: Luan-tou Pai (form school) and Li-qi Pai (formula school). Form school places more emphases on physical structures of external environments and the house. Formula school focuses more on the time and space aspects of the site and house.
Luan-tou pai has three major branches: mountain-regions, plain-regions and water-regions. On the other hand, there are hundreds of Li-qi schools. The major ones are San He, San Yuan, 9-Stars, Dragon-Gate and more. There are branches within these schools, such as San Yuan also has Xuan Kong Flying Stars, 64 Guas and the likes.
In Form Feng Shui, what you see is what you get. In Formula Feng Shui, you cannot visually see what you are getting without luopan measurements and calculations with formula.
The first criteria for good Feng Shui is: there must be good forms surrounding the house, or at least, no bad forms. Then the second step is looking at li-qi or formula.
So form and li-qi are like yin and yang, both must be taken into consideration when doing a Feng Shui reading. — some teachers considered forms are more important than formula and have assigned 60% importance to form and only 40% to formula.
However, when looking at the field, English books or seminars on forms are scarce or still running around the "4-animals model" circle.
In contrast, books and seminars on li-qi like "Flying Stars" are abundant, producing an army of number counters with little or no knowledge about forms.
Form is like hardware and li-qi is software. They must both present and matching each other’s demands to achieve good Feng Shui or living conditions.
This seminar will show students how to read forms and how to combine forms with formula to get results. How to predict form problems and how to make or stop forms and formula interacting. Topics include: inside and outside forms, shapes, ming-tang, door, bed, lights, kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, stairway, well, trees, office, bagua readings, 5-elements, water, T-junctions, remedies, fixes and more.
Yin Feng Shui (tomb Feng Shui) will only be "touched" upon-- primarily making you aware of what is bad yin Feng Shui and NOT making you a yin Feng Shui practitioner.
This is a multimedia class with lots of exciting visuals (photos, diagrams and videos) to facilitate learning. Some photos are expertly created for instructional purpose.

4-Pillars or Bazi Law of Attraction
As a Bazi or 4-pillars teacher, I am in the uncanny position of becoming the unofficial Bazi examiner of some students' potential marriage partners.
After years of reading 4P charts of students' potential target spouses, I have discovered a pattern-- people are consistently attracted or be attracted to people with certain 4P elements, even before they know anything about the other party other than physical attraction to begin with.
For example, a male students keeps attracting to woman with strong resources (Zheng-yin/ pian-yin) or output (Shang-guan/ shi-shen) elements. Woman with strong resources will drain or jinx the husband element to death. Woman with strong output elements will behave like a princess and drive her husband crazy.
As a teacher with "good intention", I keep warning this student not to take the plunge.
One day, after reading another 4P chart of his latest "encounter", a beam of enlightenment struck my head.
"Oh! I am disrupting his destiny. All he can get are women with strong resources and outputs. Advising him not to take this category of women means he will never get married at all. I am preventing someone to be born and someone to be a mother (and likely someone not able to collect their karma debts)." My mind told me.
So, as a responsible teacher, I wrote the student,
