Common approaches to Bazi analysis

Below are common approach to Bazi or 4-pillars analysis:

1. Shen-sha or symbolic stars: This approach uses only shen-sha like void, Tian-de/ Yi-de Nobleman, peach-blossom, Bloody Knife, yang-ren and the likes to examine a chart. This approach is not popular because it lacks logical consistency and theories.

2. 10 Transformation stars (or 10- Gods): This method uses concepts shang-guan, zheng-guan, bi-jian and the likes to analyze a chart without consideration of 5-element variations and chart profile (格局). This approach is also not popular.

3. Temperature adjustment: This approach compares the relative strength of the daymaster to other stems and branches within the chart. It utilizes the temperature adjustment element and 10-transformation stars meaning to analyze the chart. This is most common method seen in modern Bazi books.

4, Temperature adjustment mixing with other approaches like divination, ZWDS, shen-sha, face-reading, na-yin and the likes. This approach is quite popular lately.

5. Chart profile (格局): This approach uses the controlling and nurturing relationship between 5-lements to dissect a chart. The strongest element is the "profile" element. It does not consider temperature adjustment or the relationship between this profile and daymaster.

Each of the above approach has its own advantages and disadvantages. Each uncovers a piece of the whole picture. It is quite common to see people utilize one or more of the above approaches in their Bazi analysis.

Bazi discussion on Shinzo Abe's assassination

On the date of this tragic event, I had posted the birth chart and date chart of the assassination in my Bazi discussion groups. Here is the question that I asked my students:

"Can you point out the Bazi factors leading to this shooting?"

Here are some of the responses: (colored texts are my comments)

Response#1. "Abe’s DM is geng. The combination of yin wu and xu produced a strong fire at the current summer season and it’s lured out by the Bing at the hour pillar. The fire attacked the DM geng. Doesn’t help that his current luck pillar is also geng chen."

"Would it be a different scenario if there was earth to protect the metal? And thus, not succumbing to his injuries? "

If you look deeper, not enough earth left to drain fire; also there is a catch-22 here. This is obviously a strong DM. Supporting elements are unfavorable. Earth can turn fire into supporting element but making DM even stronger.

Response#2. 1) Hour both fire elements, probably is the cause of death - 2 fire shots.

You may look at it this way. There are two yin-wu-xu fire 3-unities in the big chart. Two wu can be seen as double-shoots to Abe.

Bing harms Geng (2 Bing = Bang Bang)

Incident day hour Bing controls geng DM, plus incident day branch xu clashed day-branch chen. DM'a day-pillar was attacked from top to bottom.

2) 10Y luck pillar Geng Chen clash with Day pillar Geng Chen. (Fu Yin)

Yes, but fu-yin is not clash. DM is likely strong DM, so this fu-yin is unfavorable.

Also interesting to note during Wu Yin 10Y luck pillar he take office as PM

This is a yang-ren (-peer) chart, with qi-sha and resources, likely to be high rank official

3). Shooting also happens during Ren Xu day - clash with Geng Chen (Dog clash Dragon)

4). Tiger - Dog - Horse (san he combination) but I don't understand the effect of it

Fire became much stronger than metal and burned it

5). A lot of earth on the day he died

Not really, look deeper, a major secret hidden in this case!

Response#3. "BTW, I'll chip in with 3x commanding pillars adding authority to Fire power clash, earthquake clash 2x Chen vs 1x Xu, Wu-Wu self-penalty, competing Wei-Wu-Wu combination, You-Xu harm, Xu-Wei damage/penalty day, Ren+Ding make Wood to strengthen Fire, Earth dry and cracked, no support for Geng. Didn't look at Shen Sha for Knife's or anything though, just throwing everything at the wall and see what sticks 😊"

Response#4. "If he was in a fu yin luck pillar, that's a big one. If the hour was Bing, that's a clash. The Xu, Yin, Wu combo could also take him out.

Yes...agree. Think he was a good man. Will fight for injustice, deep thinker, got along well with other, but also knew who he was. So sad."

Response#5. Others have already made some good points so I won't duplicate here. I think the keys are Fu Yin, Yang knife clashed and just too much Fire clash (7K). Too unstable.

The Rooster is already pulled between the two Dragons. Does that compromise the combination that protects him from yang knife?

By theory, this is a "jealous combination" resulting in no combination. This becomes chen-chen self-penalty

Tiger year is also attacking the Dragons.

The Dog clashes the Dragon.

The Horse attacks the Rooster.

The timing of the event pulls in the Rabbit which clashes the Rooster (yang knife). The chart becomes unstable.

The Tiger and Dragon attract Rabbit: 寅卯辰

Gong-ju 拱局 with mao-rabbit happens only when yin and chen are next to each other.

Rabbit is also attracted in by 未, 午, and 戌

The shooting has to do with differences about ideology? The shooter is offended by him? I think the Rabbit is the invisible player here.

Mao is +power (zheng-guan) to a Geng DM, this would be a lawsuit if mao and not an assassination

The Water is too weak and compromised to protect him.

Water in this case "provokes" or "instigates" strong fire.

Response#6: Chart and current time create two flows of elements fire has two combinations--Wei (month)-Wu (chart) and Wu-Yin-Xu -fire; and the combination of Chen-You (chart) metal and 10LP Geng-Chen fu-yin; fire metal fight explosion-shot of a weapon; Water is the element of resolution; Water is present but combination Ding (month)/ Ren day and year turns into wood or trapped elements. Gui in his chart produces wood (depleted); wood produces fire and then fire can strikes metal. And Bing Wu time and chart Geng in the month of You yang-ren!

Above discussions have pretty much listed all the possible interactions in the birth chart with the incident date chart. But which factors or interactions are the main attributes to this assassination? Could this be prevented if a date-selection or Bazi reading is done before the event? How to check promiscuous charts 好色

Bazi chart characteristics of people who are promiscuous:

1. "Violating" peach-blossom star 犯桃花: Zi, wu, mao and you are the four "peach-blossom" stars. Peach-blossom star stands for romanticism, sentimental, sexual/ physical attraction and lust. The following conditions are "violating peach-blossom":

Day stem with shen or zi or chen and with you in another branch
Day stem with hai or mao or wei and with zi in another branch
Day stem with yin or wu or xu and with mao in another branch
Day stem with si or you or chou and with wu in another branch

Chart with more than one peach-blossom stars (zi, wu, mao and you) is very sociable and attractive to opposite sex.

2. Chart is too dry or too wet: When a chart is too dry, the chart looks for water. Water represents sex in Bazi. When a chart is too wet implies it has too much water and wet earth. Strong water means chart owner has strong kidneys and hence sex drive.

3. Chart has many combinations: Branch combinations like 3-meetings, 3-unities and 6-combinations, whether within the natal chart and/ or with luck period, means this person is very sociable and prone to affairs. Same logic for stem combinations.

4. Chart has mixing of zheng-cai and pian-cai (+/- wealth stars) for males: Zheng-cai stands for wife and pian-cai mistress for males. Chart with mixing of these two stars implies this male is likely to have extra-marital affairs if married and multiple sex partners if single.

5. Chart has mixing of zheng-guan and qi-sha (+/- power stars) for females: Zheng-guan stands for husband and qi-sha lover for females. Chart with mixing of these two stars implies this female is likely have extra-marital affairs if married and multiple sex partners if single.

6. Chart has numerous (2+) shi-shen and shang-guan (+/- output stars): Shi-shen and shang-guan are the "output" (excretions) of the person. Chart with strong output stars means chart owner is more self-directed and lacking self-control. Output stars also represent sex organ and sexuality.

You do not need to freak out if your partner meets one or two of the above conditions. If s/he meets 3 or more conditions, you probably should keep an eye on him/her or find a "backup" partner.

How to check marital disasters 婚灾發生時間

"Marital disasters" here refer to:

quarrels and bickering
violence-- battered wife/ husband
affairs
one spouse suffers severe illness or died of sickness/ accident
divorce, separation or cannot see each other much

PREDICTING THE TIMING OF MARITAL DISASTERS

Marital disasters are likely to happen after the couple is over 30 years old. Below are the likely timing of occurrence:

When annual luck stem or branch clashing spouse star (wealth star for male and power star for female)
When annual luck stem or branch combining with spouse star-- is prone to affair or spouse runs away with another person
When annual luck branch clashing the spouse star in the natal chart
When annual luck stem or branch combines the the person's day branch (day branch is the spouse palace in Bazi)
When male spouse running into peer (bi-jie/ jie-cai) or wealth star (zheng-cai/ pian-cai) annual luck AND this luck clashes or penalizes or harms or combines with day or month branch-- is prone to have marital problem like quarreling, divorce, illness, disability or even death.
When female spouse running into output (shang-guan/ shi-shen) or power star (zheng-guan/ qi-sha) annual luck AND this luck branch clashes or penalizes or harms or combines with day or month branch-- is prone to have marital problem like quarreling, divorce, illness, disability or even death.

How to check if a man loves his wife OR mistress more?

There are many one-woman man in this world. But there are also multiple-women man too. How can we know if one is a one-woman or multiple-women man? How can we figure out if he loves his wife or mistress more? This sounds like a soap opera but gets your attention.

ONE-WOMAN VS. MULTIPLE WOMEN MAN
We can quickly find out if one is a loyal or "play the field" man by check his Bazi natal chart. In Bazi, +wealth (zheng-cai) star represents formally married wife and -wealth (pian-cai) stands for mistress or lover. Hence if -wealth star shows up in a male chart, the chance of this person has mistress is higher.

Note: You can check if someone is a one-woman or multiple-women man by keying in his birthday and hour in this www.bazicalculator.com website. However, this calculator uses "direct wealth" to represent +wealth and "indirect wealth" for -wealth. Look at the chart at left hand side only and check if there is any "indirect wealth"-- sign of mistress.

Characteristics of a multiple-woman male chart:

contains both + and -wealth stars (zheng-cai/ pian cai)
may have "hidden" wealth star/s in the branch/es
if there is no -wealth star in his natal chart, but luck period/s bring in -wealth star

WIFE VS. MISTRESS
By the same token, through analyzing the relative strength and locations of +wealth and -wealth stars, we can deduce if this man favors his wife or mistress more.

Man loves mistress more scenarios:

-wealth star is stronger than +wealth star: this means mistress is more capable than the wife or has qualities that wife does not possess.
-wealth star/s show up in stem level and +wealth star is hidden in branch level: whatever in stem level means "visible" to public whereas in branch level is not seen by the public. This man is brazenly showing off his mistress in public and rarely taking wife out socializing.
multiple -wealth stars in the chart: this means -wealth star or mistress is strong and keeping the attention of the man.
proximity to the daymaster (man): "proximity" here means -wealth star sits next or below the daymaster like in the day-stem (strongest), month-stem or hour-stem. Being "close" means deeper relationship with the man.

Man loves wife more scenarios:

+wealth star is stronger than -wealth star: this means mistress is less capable than his wife and may have some undesirable qualities.
+wealth star/s show up in stem level and -wealth star is hidden in branch level: whatever in stem level means "visible" to public whereas in branch level is not seen by the public. This man is "hiding" or keeping the mistress in secret.
multiple +wealth stars in the chart: this means +wealth star or wife is strong and may not tolerate taking a mistress in.
+wealth or wife star "gains position": "gains position" here means wife star sitting in spouse palace and becomes very powerful. This man is likely "afraid" or "dominated" by wife and dares not getting a mistress.
proximity to the daymaster (man): "proximity" here means +wealth star sits next or below the daymaster like in the day-stem (strongest), month-stem or hour-stem.

"Ken, how do we check one-man woman and multiple-men woman?

This is a BOGO article. The answer for your question is embedded in the article by changing six words. I give you the first four: change wife to husband, man to woman, mistress to lover, +wealth to ????? and -wealth to ?????

Here we keep things simple without considering the scenario that a man or woman unintentionally becomes a multiple-women or men person due to jinxing the spouse to death (and marrying again). This is another story.

Feng Shui method to avoid traffic accident

The "travelling horse" location (驛馬方位) based on one's Chinese zodiac animal sign is in charge of traffic safety in Feng Shui. Below are the locations for the 12 Chinese zodiac animals:

Northeast location: monkey, mouse and dragon
Southwest location: tiger, horse and dog
Southeast location: pig, rabbit and ram
Northwest location: snake, rooster and ox

How to do this traffic accident prevention Feng Shui? This travelling location is in your living room. Simply put an auspicious object according to your culture or put a vase (must be not empty) or colorful picture or something looking nice in this "travelling horse" location. For example, if your animal sign is rabbit, put a picture or flower vase in the southeast sector of your living room. You are done. No updated is required.

How to check career and residential changes

"When will I change career?" "When will I buy or build a house?" These are common questions in a Bazi consultation.

Career and residential changes are checked through branch clashes in one's Bazi chart with luck periods. Whether the results are positive or negative depends on the favorableness of the luck period.

Zi, wu, mao and you regional clashes: stand for residential change but no career change.
Yin, shen, si and hai career clashes: stand for both career change and residential change.
Chen, xu, chou and wei career clashes: stand for career change but no residential change.

Resource stars (zheng-yin/ pian-yin) represent house or property in Bazi. The clashing and combination of resource star reflect changes in property ownership or movement (not elaborated here for this article).

WORK OR CAREER CHANGES BASED ON 10-GODS

Career or employer is represented by power stars (zheng-guan/ qi-sha) in terms of transformation stars ("10-Gods"). Career changes are likely to occur when:

10-years-luck/ annual luck bring in output star (shang-guan/ shi-shen)-- career or job duty changes
10-years-luck/ annual luck branch clashing the power stars (zheng-guan/ qi-sha) in the chart-- career or job duty changes
10-years-luck/ annual luck pillars clashing or modifying the power stars (zheng-guan/ qi-sha) and resource stars (zheng-yin/ pian-yin) in the chart-- both career and residential changes
