"Ghost"-- Cat Edition

My 12 year old ginger cat Tiger had crossed the rainbow bridge a few weeks ago.  I had buried him in my backyard under a small tree.  This tree becomes his memorial.

I took out garbage at midnight yesterday because I forgot the follow morning is our weekly garbage collection day.  While I had pushed the garbage container to the curb side, I heard some faint meow noises from the backyard.

The meow sounds became louder and louder.  I had looked toward the sound source with a little apprehension.  Suddenly I saw a ginger cat showing up from darkness.  

My heart had almost stopped and felt chills in my spine.  My first thought was "Tiger comes back?  Cat ghost?"   

This cat had stared at me and followed me into my garage.

He looks like Tiger in terms of fur color and physical size.  He had walked around and "inspected" the garage.  I got some cat food for him to eat.

He did not eat much.  Unlike a homeless or stray cat, this is a clean and well-fed cat.

I had read stories about heart-broken pet owners getting a replacement pet out of the blue after their pets had passed.  They attribute it as a "gift" or reincarnation of the deceased pet.  Is this my turn?

While I was pondering should I let this cat meet my resident cat in the house, I had discovered that he has a red collar around his neck with a tiny pendant.

I took out the collar and read the pendant.  "*PUMPKIN*  Outdoor Cat  123-456-7890"

The area code of the phone number is my district.  This is a neighborhood cat named Pumpkin!

Pumpkin had rolled on the floor for tummy rubs and petting.  It had played with me for a few minutes.

Then Pumpkin had stared at the garage door.

I opened the garage door to let Pumpkin go.  He had looked at me for a few seconds and disappeared in the darkness.

I guess my cat Tiger had taken over Pumpkin's body to see me one last time before moving on.  He had passed while I was sleeping.

UPDATE:  May 11, 2025

My son returned home around mid-night today.  A ginger cat had followed him into our garage.  It was Pumpkin again-- almost at the same time 1 year and 1 days ago.  He seems to recognize me.  I had played and petted him for around 10 minutes and let him go.  Is this another sign from Tiger?

This ghost color guide may save your life!

Do you know the color of a ghost or spirit can tell you if this is a malicious or friendly ghost?  Below are the colors of six types of ghosts:

White:  White is the most commonly seen ghost color.  Ghosts with this color were dead from natural causes with no malice.  Ghosts who have just departed from their physical bodies and waiting for reincarnation or moving on, also showing this color.

Grey:   Grey color is also a commonly seen ghost color.  Ghosts with this color were dead from natural causes with no malice.  Ghosts who have just departed from their physical bodies and waiting for reincarnation or moving on,  but have some unfinished businesses or wishes, want to find someone to help them to fulfil their final wishes, are also grey in color.  If you "see" this type of ghosts, it means you are the "chosen one" to help them!

Lime:  Ghosts with lime color represent some mild degree of malice with  grudges.  Ghosts of this type usually were dead from suicides.  If you can "see" them, it means they want you to help them to solve some problems or unfinished businesses.    

Green:  Ghosts with green color represent high degree of malice with some major grudges.  Ghosts of this type usually were dead from murder and resent being murdered.  If you can "see" them, it means you have done something connected to their death directly or indirectly.  Run as fast as you could or recite your prayer/ mantra when you see a green ghost.   

Red:  Ghosts with red color represent very vengeful and malice with some extreme grudges.  Ghosts of this type usually were dead from suicide and resent being dead.  If you can "see" them, it means you have done something causing their death directly or indirectly.  Run as fast as you could or recite your prayer/ mantra when you see a red ghost.  Kneel down and pray for forgiveness if you cannot run or forget your prayer.

Black:  Black spirit represents the God of Death.  This is the first "person" one sees when one dies.  If you "see" a black ghost, it is possible that you have just died or you have seen God of Death coming to pick up some souls.  It is "easy" to run into God of Death in hospitals as he comes over to do his work.

It's a cat's life-- In memoriam of a Feng Shui cat

In the summer of 2008, we had unexpectedly adopted a 3 year old black cat Meow-meow.  I had written a blog about this accidental adoption:

At the end of last January, Meow-meow also had unexpectedly passed.  This blog is a celebration of her life.

IT IS A CAT'S LIFE

Meow-meow was a kind and gentle creature.  She was a "no-kill" cat.  She would not kill any living thing.  I had seen her interactions with crickets and ants and wrote about it:

I had discovered her Feng Shui talent.  She could figure out which area of the house has the best Feng Shui or energy.  I had certified her as the first cat Feng Shui master in the world-- Master Meow-meow:

Meow-meow was also a normal cat.  She eats, naps and poohs.  She woke my spouse up in the morning and me up in the afternoon.

Meow-meow was classy and elegant.  She would poop outside the litter box if the box is not clean enough for her or used by another cat.

We told her not to sit or run on dinner table and kitchen counters.  She obeyed the order, at least in our presence.  Our two other cats do not follow the order at all.

Meow-meow was very friendly and would jump onto the lap of any guest coming into my house.

Besides regular cat food, she likes yogurt and cream cheese.

She also likes to chew on thin electric wires and damaged a few of my gadgets.

From time to time, she would climb up my fish tank for some fish soup by dipping her long tail into the water and then licking her tail.

THE LAST GOODBYE

I had seen Meow-meow taking her last breath and making two loud noises, as if saying "Good-bye" to me.  She then laid down peacefully and motionlessly.  I said to Meow-meow, 

"Have a smooth trip to heaven.  I pray for you to go to heaven or reincarnate as a human being.  Thank you for the joy that you bought to our family."

It was still winter with snow here in January.  The ground was frozen.  I had problem digging up some soil to bury Meow-meow.  So I bought 5 bags of potting soil to bury Meow-meow above a slope near my backyard.  I had also buried two parakeets there before.  She would be closed to her friends there.

I had buried Meow-meow with some cat-food, her favorite cream cheese and a Tibetan talisman.  This talisman would enable her to have a smooth trip to Pureland or reincarnate as a  human being.

Pets come to our lives for some reasons.  Some people believe that pets sometimes die suddenly to take the "hit" for its owner.  There are stories of Feng Shui fish jumping out of the water tank to tie up its owner from making a fateful trip.

Meow-meow might have fended off a disaster for my family by sacrificing herself.

Postscript:  I have visited an animal shelter yesterday and seen a 2-year old male black cat waiting for adoption.  He looks like the reincarnation of Meow-meow.  

Postscript 4/4/2016:  Today I found Meow-meow's tomb was disturbed and cracked open, probably by some wild animals.  Her body was moved a few feet away.  The ground is not frozen now, so I can dig a hole into the ground to rebury her.  Her body was hard like a rock.  In 4/4/16 evening I suddenly had smelled the same staunchly scent when Meow-meow passed inside my house.  The scent lasted only 20 seconds.  Maybe this is her way of telling me her presence.  I had prayed for her liberation from animal realm right the way.

In Memoriam, Blue Bird

In 2002, my 13 years old son wanted a pet.  We went to a pet shop and bought a blue parakeet.  My son named it "Percy".

Then we found Percy was not happy and lonely.  So we bought him a partner, a green parakeet.
 
Within a few months, my son had lost interest in the parakeets.  We got stuck with the feeding and caring of these birds.

Percy had a strong personality.  He would make sure you know how he felt.  He could make annoying noises that sound like 10+ birds were chirping when he was not happy.

He knew how to "bang" the bird cage door when he wanted us to refill the feeder.

After 2 years, his green partner had died.  We bought him another partner, a white parakeet.

In 2007, we have adopted a big black cat Meow-Meow.  Meow-Meow spares no time to explore the bird cage.
 
Meow-Meow weighed 15 pounds and Percy was about 3 oz.. This is like a T-rex dinosaur sitting a few inches from a human, separated by a cage only inches away.  But Percy did not panic at all. 


It looked like the cartoon "Tweety Bird".

Cat and birds co-existed peacefully with occasionally "admiration" by the cat sitting a few inches from the cage when the cat is bored.

In the summer of 2012,  Percy's white parakeet partner had died.  I was hesitated to get him another partner this time because life expectancy of parakeet is about 10 years.  Percy was a pretty "old bird" by definition.  He had outlived two partners already.  If I get him a new partner and he suddenly hit the bucket, I will get stuck taking care of another bird for 10+ years.  I am not a young man either.

Daoist "100+ ClemencyTalismans" 

To alleviate Percy's loneliness, I moved his cage frequently to the balcony or near a window, so that he could see and hear other birds outside.  He also chirped with other birds outside from time to time.

Then in an early May morning, I found Percy lay down motionless on the cage floor.  I had almost bought a new parakeet two days ago but hesitated.

We were both sad and happy for Percy.  Percy can now move on to another realm or at least meet his late partners.

To ensure that Percy will reborn in a high realm of existence, I had cleansed his body with holy water.  I had rubbed his body with a Daoist "100+ Clemency" talismans to get all the "pardons" he needs to pass through the underworld.  Finally I had buried him with a Tibetan talisman that will enable him to reincarnate as a higher being than a bird.

I have buried him next to his late partner.  A few weeks later, a plant with blue and white flowers, the colors of Percy's feathers,  grows from his grave.

4-Pillars Reading.... for CATS?

I can see your eyeballs rolling with $-signs--- expands your 4P service to cat clients!

The story begins last year when I wrote in my blog about my 8-year old niece Sammy adopted a female kitten Mimi. Mimi shows close attachment to my brother Jimmy but not his wife Jane. I have joked about this cat may be the reincarnation of his former love from his previous life.

Not to be outdone, Jimmy's wife adopted a male kitten Goldie. It by chance also shows close attachment to her but not my brother! Another former love reincarnation??

"In Daoist (Taoist) and Buddhist literature, stories of some deceased reincarnate into animals to get close to their current or previous life love ones are pretty common. This also explains some incredible animal stories of saving their masters or animals with unusually high IQ."

Now the story continues...

I stayed at their home when I was in Hong Kong and met the cats. The family has spoiled the cats-- they let them roam on dinner table, computer desk or anywhere!

The first thing that Jane and Jimmy do when they returned from work is hugging their own cat and not their only kid. But the kid is happy to play with two cats.

One evening, while I was reading the current 4P luck of Jane, she suddenly asked me, "Can you do 4P reading for my cats?"

"What? 4P for cats? Darn, why not? Do you have their birthdays?" Actually in my mind, I thought she must be crazy and bet she does not have the cats' birthday data.

It turned out the cats were home-bred by her pals, so she got the birthdays!

Hence the first two cat 4P readings in history happened unexpectedly.

Here is the 4P of female cat Mimi:

It is likely a weak Gui-water daymaster. Interesting coincidence-- Jane is also a weak gui-water DM!

Here is the 4P of male cat Goldie:

It is likely a strong Ji-earth daymaster. Another super-unexpected coincidence-- Jimmy is a strong ji-earth DM with the SAME ji-si day-pillar!

I almost fell onto the ground when I compared the owners and cats' daymasters.


A cat's fortune depends on its owner's luck cycle. So what I look for is just the karmic linkage to the cat owner, though other things like compatibility with owners and personalities can possibly be deduced. Of course, this will need more testing before launching it to the public.

Jimmy's wife's DM is gui and so is the female cat. Chance for that happens is 1/10 (since there are 10 stems).

Jane's husband's Day pillar is ji-si and so is the male cat. Probability for occurrence is 1/60 (since there are 60 jia-zi or binomials).

In actual 4P, Gui-water is the wife of Ji-earth DM.

The probability of fitting the husband and wife in a row with the cats is 10 x 60 or 1 in 600.

This 4P testing seems to support the theory of deceased love one's reincarnation into pet to get another chance for meeting past or present love ones. Or to the least, the coincidence of this case is "beyond chance".

Maybe we can start a new branch of 4P service-- "pet karmic linkage testing".

The kitten that sleeps like a human

My niece Sammy was given a female kitten a few weeks ago. She calls it "Mimi".

One interesting thing about Mimi the kitten is-- when it sleeps on a human bed, it sleeps with its back on the bed, that is, it sleeps like a human!

When it sleeps on the floor or on its own bed, it sleeps like a regular cat.

Another strange behavior is: it follows my brother Jimmy all the time or sits next to him if Jimmy is working on his computer.

I asked my brother, "Did you know of any ex-girl friends or female admirers of yours die prematurely?"

"No." Answered Jimmy.

"Oh, if you had, Mimi may be the reincarnation of your deceased female admirer. But since you don't have any, then this kitten probably was a woman that has unfinished business with you in your previous life. Since it is not her turn to be your wife in your current life and she does not want to wait, she reincarnates as a cat to be with you."

"Ha ha ha, when do you become a story-teller?" Asked my brother.

"Make sure you do not tell your wife or she will banish your kitten. You know woman can become jealous even with a kitten." I told Jimmy.

Well, I don't know if Jimmy has told his wife the reincarnation story. But yesterday Jimmy told me that his wife bought home a male kitten.

"Jimmy, your wife probably is jealous of you. So she bought home a male kitten and hopefully will follow her around like yours." I told Jimmy.

"In the worst case scenario, this male cat can distract your female cat admirer and she can regain 100% control of you." I added.

In terms of 4-Pillars explanation, my brother Jimmy is a strong wu-earth day-master with wu-horse animal sign. Wu-earth likes to have yang-wood to loosen the hard earth. Cat is Yin (tiger) or jia wood. Wu-horse combines with yin-tiger and xu-dog. So there is an affinity built-in here.

My niece Sammy is a weak Wood day-master. Bring in a cat (jia-wood) will help her to become more focused.

So far I have not heard if the male kitten follows my brother or his wife.
