We have been working for peanuts!

We Feng Shui people have been working for peanuts.

From the late Nina Wang estate lawsuit, it shows that Nina had paid HK$10M (US$1.3M) "bonus" to her Feng Shui consultant after his Feng Shui "formation" helped her win her late husband's estate (I may write about this FS "formation" when I have time).

But compare to this "little bonus", Tony Chan, the secret lover and litigant for the sole beneficiary of Nina's huge estate, got paid even "more".

According to the original heir of Nina, Chinachem charity, Nina had paid Chan a total of THREE payments of about HK$688 million (US$88.8 million) EACH for his Feng Shui service!

I guess this is the highest a Feng Shui guy has made in history-- US$270M in 15 years.

Chan claims that Nina had sent him cash by the truckloads!

For those who wants to know more about the juicy contents of this case, please read:

Foreign news reports often cut the Feng Shui part of the case. There are quite a few interesting Feng Shui details within and outside this case.

It is obvious that Chan's lawyers portray Chan as a Feng Shui idiot ("low level Feng Shui knowledge") and that it is "love" that Nina Wang willed the estate to him; whereas the heir said that Chan is good at Feng Shui and had run a Feng Shui shop and did Feng Shui audits for local celebrities before running into Nina.

The original heir hits the case from all possible fronts:
1. portrays Chan as a Feng Shui master and used ritualistic Feng Shui trick to dupe Nina out of her estate.
2. the will is forged
3. if the will is not forged, then Nina's mental condition are questionable at the time when the will was written
4. Nina's 2002 will was very elaborated, amended 5 times and was written in Chinese. Chan's alleged will is short, in English and has writing errors.
----
In terms of the court of public opinion, Chan loses. The public perceive him as greedy and stealing from charity, especially he was already paid HK$2800M (US$360M) by his own admission. Not to mention the moral implications that he started the affair 3 months after he had married his current wife.
--
This brings up a dilemma for FS expert witness. Most FS lineages have strict rules on who their students can serve. Here are some common "no service" groups:
--
-- non-filial persons
-- disloyal persons
-- gambling halls
-- brothels
-- immoral people
-- greedy people
-- mean people
-- rich but unkind people
-- shameless people
--
The western notion of justice assumes someone is innocent unless proven guilty. Chinese and most Asian countries have the opposite idea: you are guilty unless proven othewise. So it is easier to be FS expert witness in the west when your client has not yet been proven guilty.
--
The FS expert witness for Chan will be in a no-win situation. If winning the case, the local FS community and the public are likely to perceived him/her as helping Chan to grab money from charity. If losing the case, will there be more witness job or even local FS jobs coming?
--
Chan is smart to get someone from overseas instead of a local master who is likely to be biased.
--
Well, I'm going to re-price my courses, so that I can afford more peanuts... maybe it is easier to find a rich client.

Blame it on Feng Shui!

Now you have a new excuse for not doing something--- Feng Shui!

According to Reuter news, one of the tallest skyscrapers in Hong Kong, Cheung Kong Center (it is next to Bank of China, owned by Lee Ka Sing, the richest man in HK) has declined to hold a Dutch charity exhibition of clogs because of "Feng Shui".

http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/hongkongnetherlandsexhibitionoffbeat

"The tower's management said the wooden footwear show would cause bad luck, because the Cantonese word for shoes -- hai -- sounds similar to a sigh of exasperation".

We Cantonese speakers has a saying: "If this turns out (the other way), I'll follow you and carry your shoes!" So "carrying" another person's shoes is seen as degrading. This is not Feng Shui but cultural or folk belief.

Another vulgar meaning of shoe or "hai" is vagina because the Cantonese sound of "hai" sounds like vagina. This is not Feng Shui but "guilty by association" only.

Is there any "Shoe Feng Shui"?

The only thing that can be remotely associated with Feng Shui and shoes is --- do not put smelly shoes in the entrance of your door. But this is not really Feng Shui but hygiene.

It is not unusual that cultural or folk belief is treated as "Feng Shui". Now you don't need to say "my spouse does not want to.." and just blame it on Feng Shui.

Billionaires and their month of birth

The Forbes magazine has conducted a study about the characteristics of the world's 657 self-made billiionares in last February.

The study examines: "Are billionaires born or made? What are the common attributes among the uber-wealthy? Are there any true secrets of the self-made?"

In this message I just focus on the birth month correlation with wealth potentials. You may check out the entire article if you are interested in other factors.

http://finance.yahoo.com/family-home/article/106866/Billionaire-Clusters

Month of birth is important in "4-pillars of Destiny" because it determines the temperature of a natal chart. Extreme temperature like excessive hotness, dryness, coldness or dampness has severe consequence on major aspects of life like fertility and marriage.

Here are the parts about months of birth in the study:

"Consistent with the rest of the population, more American billionaires were born in the fall than in any other season. However, relatively few billionaires were born in December, traditionally the month with the eighth highest birth rate. This anomaly holds true among billionaires in the U.S. and abroad."

"Of the 380 self-made American tycoons who have appeared on the Forbes list of the World's Billionaires in the past three years, 42 were born in September--more than in any other month. "

December is around Zi-water winter month of the solar calendar. Water energy is strong and cold in this month. The probability of getting a "cold" chart is much higher than other months since the important month branch is taken by a cold element already.

September is around the shen-metal autumn month of the solar calendar. Shen month is the first month after the wei-earth summer month. It is not too cold or hot even if there are few fire elements found in a natal chart.

Today is your lucky day---- here is a big secret on how to differentiate a "rich" chart and an "ultra-rich" chart-- it is all in the temperature of the charts.

The temperature of a "rich" chart is not as well-adjusted as an "ultra-rich" chart. "Well-adjusted" means the balance between hot vs. cold and dry vs. wet.

This Forbes study seems to give face validity to this theory of temperature adjustment.

Should you live in a "cul-de-sac commune"?

Before we begin, this message is not about the advantages and disadvantages or political correctness of "cul-de-sac commune" living.  It simply examine the idea from Form Feng Shui perspective.

A "cul-de-sac commune" is formed when residents of a dead-end street with a cul-de-sac are joined together like the old co-op in the past, to share resources, friendship and services. For more info, check the following link:
http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=102651496
Should you live in a"cul-de-sac commune"?  It all depends on the location of your house in the street.

From Form Feng Shui perspective,  houses located at a cul-de-sac endure a major Feng Shui sha or negative energy-- the "sickle sha".  The curature of the cul-de-sac looks like a sickle cutting into a house.  The negative effects of "sickle sha" are surgery or bloody accidents.  There are Feng Shui formula used to calculate the most probably year of injury occurrence and who will get the injury (formula in my "Advanced Form Feng Shui" class).

House at a certain location on the cul-de-sac may suffer a negative energy called "White Tiger gives bouquet"-- it stands for marital infidelity.

You may ask, "Ken, there are tons of cul-de-sacs in USA and do not seem to have these problems."

This is exactly what I want you to ask!  Cul-de-sac or dead-end street usually has less traffic, so the sha or negative energy is not "activated"-- but not when you have a cul-de-sac commune!  There will be increased auto and human traffic that make energy moving around more frequently and may activate the negative energy.
Now returning to the question of should you live in a "cul-de-sac commune"--it is OK to live in one if your house is not within the cul-de-sac.

If there any remedies or fixes for people who already live in the cul-de-sac?  Yes, there are remedies in my "Advanced Form Feng Shui" course.

The time has come--- Feng Shui Expert Witness!

From newspapers and TV soap operas, we see many expert witnesses of handwriting, dental, fire, psychology, electronics and so on, were hired to say "nice things" for their clients and nasty stuff for their adversaries in courts.

I ask myself, "When will Feng Shui people get a crack on this expert witness business?"

My prayer was answered today.

Today, Reuters has a report about the late Hong Kong tycoon Nina Wang's estate court fight:

http://www.reuters.com/article/lifestyleMolt/idUSTRE52T2BJ20090330

In a nutshell, Nine Wang had willed her US$12 billion estate to charity in 2002. After she died of cancer in 2007, her secret lover Tony Chan, a married businessman and feng shui enthusiast, suddenly claims to have a 2006 will that grants him the sole beneficiary of Wang's estate.

Wang's orginal beneficiary, Chinachem Charitable Foundation, uses Feng Shui as one of the reasons to discredit Tony Chan in court. They hire Feng Shui experts to write testimonials to accuse "Chan of duping Wang out of her fortune by promising the tycoon eternal life through his feng shui services."

I envision one day that people will use Feng Shui defense/offense like people use the insanity defense today. This means more work opportunities for our Feng Shui graduates!

"Bad Feng Shui made me kill this SOB!."

"This guy had used Feng Shui trick to scam me out of $100!"

Feng Shui teachers, it's about time to work on a course for "Feng Shui Expert Witness".

Why 2009 has so many plane crashes?

Now is late March and it seems the current year has an unusually high number of plane crashes.

Newspaper reports that there are 2 new plane crashes in last weekend.

People ask me why all the crashes? Here is my attempted answer:

2009 is Ji-chou or earth-ox year. The 5-element nature of ox is also earth. So earth energy is very strong this year.

Chou is the "tomb" or storage of metal element. Si-you-chou (snake-rooster- ox) is the 3-unity metal combinations in the Chinese stem and branch system.

"You" is rooster (bird) and metal in nature. It can be interpreted as airplane.

In post-heaven bagua or lao-shu chart, west is occupied by the 7-metal star. You-metal is also located in the same area.

For year 2009's annual star chart, 2-sickness (earth) star flies to the west direction. This has two implications:
1. it adds more earth to the region
2. in Chinese numerology, 2-7 means fire, so the fire adds more earth to the region.

In short, there are excessive earth energy in 2009. In 4-Pillars, there is a term called "too much earth will bury metal".

With 2-7 fire in the you-metal region and the strong chou metal-tomb energy, some "flying birds" crashed and burned and ended up in the metal tomb.

4-Pillars Perspective on Mate-selection

The following is a common 4-Pillars question on marriage:

"According to 4 Pillars, can a person ( male ) born inthe year of Ox marry a person ( female ) born in the year ofsheep, even though there is a direct clash ? I have observedseveral such cases wherein such married couple get alongvery well with each other !"

Chou (ox) and Wei (sheep) are basically the same--- earth, so clashes between the two are not that antagonistic like monkey (shen-metal) clashing tiger (yin-wood).

Also Chou is "metal storage" and Wei is "wood storage". If a person or DM needs such storage, it will work well with a spouse who brings it to the pot.

I also found, in some rare cases, a person's clashing animal sign may also be the "nobleman" of the person.

Besides, animal clash is only part of the equation. You still have to look at the day pillars between the potential couple-- to see if there are clashes or combinations. You prefer combinations in this case. It means attraction and getting along between the two. Clashes mean fighting.

Then come to the most important part-- (contents are posted in "4P Bootcamp" discussion list).

This 4P principle on mate-selection can also be applied to business partner selection and hiring of employees or looking for your "helpful people".
