Minimalist Feng Shui for 2018

This is a "green" article recycled from last year with updates.  If you are darn lazy, simply read the following picture and go back to your sweet dream.

No digging/ movements in regions with blue arrows:

• Region between 142.5- 217.5 degrees  (San Sha and 5-yellow locations)
• 247.5- 292.5 degrees (2-black star)-- use metal cure
• 292.5- 307.5 degrees (Grand Duke)
• 112.5- 127.5 degrees (Sui-Po or year-breaker)

"Minimalist Feng Shui"  here fixes only 2-5, 5-5, and 9-5 star combinations in regions with activities.  You don't need to put up remedies or Feng Shui monsters in all 9-palaces of your house, especially in region with no activity like storage room or guest room.

This year Sui-po (year-breaker) is in the 8-wealth star region.  Be very careful with the location where you put your water-fountain or other wealth-enhancement monsters.

You should do a good date-selection if you need to do construction in any of the above locations with blue arrow (mountains/ palace).  San-sha and 5-Yellow star share the same location this year.  Make sure you do not provoke their "anger" by digging and movements there.

People with dragon and dog zodiac signs should avoid seeing corpse being put into a coffin or burial for this year if they don't want bad luck and sickness.

Yang nobleman sign for this year is Chou (ox).  Yin nobleman is Wei (ram).

2018 Wu-xu Feng Shui year will start on February 4 @ 5:30 am.  Remember to move your Feng Shui monsters/ remedies before that time.  Do a house-cleaning/ cleansing on Feb. 3 if you have suffered misfortunes during 2017 ding-you year.

What is "house violating Grand Duke" in Feng Shui?

If you have read this blog for a while, you must have seen topics on individuals "violating" or "clashing" Grand Duke or Tai-sui.  In Feng Shui, a house can "violate" or "clash" Grand Duke too.

According to Chinese metaphysics, Grand Duke is the annual ruler based on the relative movement between Jupiter and earth.  The relative orbit location that Jupiter projects to earth has a strong energy called Grand Duke.  One should not disturb this energy with activities and "moving earth" (digging) or disasters and misfortune will follow.

Ancient Chinese has humanized this astrological force and assigned 60 historical figures to each year in the 60 Jia-zi years Chinese calendar cycle as "Grand Duke" of the year.

This Grand Duke energy is based on the Chinese zodiac animal sign (means earthly branch).  So if your house facing is on a heavenly stem, your house will be free from this violating Grand Duke business-- one less hassle to worry about.  This is why experienced Feng Shui practitioners would prefer choosing a house with a heavenly stem facing.

The opposite side/direction of Grand Duke is the "year-breaker" or Sui-po.  It is also not to be disturbed with activities and "moving earth".

The opposite side of Grand Duke is "Year-breaker".  E.g., for 2017, GD is you-rooster and YB is mao-rabbit.

4 TYPES OF FENG SHUI VIOLATION OF GRAND DUKE
1.  Grand Duke at the door and house facing
The facing of a house is at Grand Duke or Year-breaker direction.  This includes door facing GD even if the facing is not in the GD direction.

2.  Location violating Grand Duke
Function-specific rooms like office, kitchen, bedroom locate in Grand Duke location

3.  Moving earth in Grand Duke direction/ location
"Moving earth" means digging, construction or remodeling here.

4.  Marriage movement
If the traveling direction from home of the bride relative to the new marital residence is facing Grand Duke direction, this is considered violating Grand Duke.

5.  Home moving movement
If the traveling direction from old home the new residence is facing Grand Duke direction, this is considered violating Grand Duke.

Most info on Grand Duke location just gives you the major 8 directions like South or SW.  This will make more houses violate Grand Duke than the reality.  Today is your lucky day, I take out a table from the course manual of my

 Note:  The red entry means in years 2026 and 2028, both Grand Duke and 5-yellow disaster star are in the same location.  Avoid digging there at all costs. (updated 12/13/2016)

Minimal Feng Shui Guide for 2015 year of Wood Ram

Yi-wei or year of Wood Ram will start in a few weeks.  You may want to fix the regions that will become "dangerous" to fix or dig after Feb.3, 2015 now.

This year I make things "visual" by putting the locations of Grand Duke, Sui Po and San Sha directly on the 24 mountains template with the annual star chart for the Year of Ram.

Annual chart is based on Purple White Method which holds that 1, 6, 8 and 9-star locations are auspicious. 2-black sickness and 5-yellow disaster star locations are inauspicious.  Therefore, for current year, Southeast sector with 2-black sickness star is the second inauspicious.  West sector with 5-yellow disaster star is the most inauspicious, especially one of the San Sha is also there.  

Tai Sui or Grand Duke sits on Wei mountain or SW1 and Sui Po or Year Breaker in Chou mountain or NE1.  You definitely do not want movements and especially "moving earth" (digging or construction) in these regions.  

If the annual star chart of your house has 2-sickness star in the SE, you need to put metal or coin-solution cure there, especially if you have a door there. Same scenario and remedies and precautions if you have a 5-yellow disaster star in the west sector of your house. 

"Minimal Feng Shui" is to fix only 2-5, 5-5, and 9-5 star combinations in regions with activities. Also keep these areas clean and no piles of clutters or garbage (because this becomes the "form" to activate the bad stars).  You don't need to put up remedies or Feng Shui monsters in all 9-palaces of your house, especially in region of no activity like storage room and guest room.  

OTHER PRECAUTIONS:
Grand Duke is at Wei mountain (SW1) -- minimize movements and avoid construction or digging. If your house is facing Wei mountain , your house is said to be "Chong" or clashing Grand Duke. You may want to put a Grand Duke Talisman there for protection or at least minimize movements there. It will help your competitive power if you sit with your back facing Grand Duke (but NOT yourself facing GD!)

Sui Po or year-breaker is at Chou mountain (NE1)-- avoid construction or digging.

San Sha or 3-killings are at Shen (SW3), You (W2) and Xu (NW1) mountains -- avoid construction or digging.  You may face San Sha locations but not sit on these locations with your back facing them.

5-yellow disaster star at Dui palace (W)- avoid construction or digging and movements. San Sha sits in Dui palace with 5-yellow-- definitely be very careful when you do constructions and movement here!

Yang nobleman sign for this year is Shen (monkey).  Yin nobleman is Zi (rat).

You need to do a good date-selection if you need to do construction in any of the above locations (mountains/ palace) or better doing it before end of the current year (horse year).

People with ox and ram zodiac sign should avoid seeing putting corpse in coffin or burial for this year.

Minimalist Feng Shui Guide for 2014 Year of Horse

This is a "green" article recycled from last year with updates.  If you are darn lazy, just read the following picture and go back to your nap.

2014 is Jia-wu or year of Wood-horse.  Horse is fire in nature in the Chinese zodiac. So this year is strong in fire energy with wood as energy source.  Any idiot Chinese astrologer is able to predict there will be many forest fire, explosions and fire related disasters.   2013 Gui-si year (water-snake, snake is fire in nature) is characterized by both flooding and fire disasters.

We use the annual Feng Shui chart to evaluate the yearly movements of Feng Shui energies. This chart is based on Purple White Method which holds that 1,6, 8 and 9-star locations are auspicious. 2-black sickness and 5-yellow disaster star locations are inauspicious.

San-sha (3-killings) is in Hai, Zi and Chou mountains (North) this year.  5-yellow disaster star is in Northwest.  So Hai mountain (NWN) has 5-yellow overlapping there.  Avoid construction or digging there at all cost.  You don't want to piss off San-sha and 5-yellow at the same time.

It is OK to face San Sha direction but NOT sit on them. Traditional fix for San Sha is a pair of ki-lun figurines. But if you cannot get or afford ki-lun, you may use a sword-waving archangel St. Michael figurine or picture instead.  Fix for 5-yellow is metal or coin-salt solution.

Tai Sui or Grand Duke is at Wu mountain or the South. Avoid movements or put up a Grand Duke talisman if your door sits in the south side (check next blog on how to get the talisman).  It is auspicious to sit with Grand Duke at your back but NOT facing him.  Sui-po or year-breaker is at Zi (N) mountain. Avoid movements, digging, drilling and constructions in these locations.

Minimalist Feng Shui Guide for 2013 Year of Snake

Gui-si or year of Water Snake will be here in a few weeks.  You may want to fix the regions in your house that will become "dangerous" to fix or dig after Feb.3, 2013 now.

We use the annual Feng Shui chart to evaluate the yearly movements of Feng Shui energies. This chart is based on Purple White Method which holds that 1,6, 8 and 9-star locations are auspicious. 2-black sickness and 5-yellow disaster star locations are inauspicious. 

The annual chart for 2013 is interesting because all the stars return to their original  post-heaven Bagua locations.  For the year of snake,  5-yellow disaster star will be in the center of every house.   You want to fix this 5-yellow energy if your stairway is at the center of your house due to frequent movements.   Tai Sui or Grand Duke is at Si mountain or SSE location.  San Sha or 3-killings are in Yin (ENE), Mao (E) and Chen (ESE) mountains or locations.  Sui-po or year-breaker is at Hai (NNW) mountain. Avoid movements, digging, drilling and constructions in these locations.

OTHER PRECAUTIONS:

Sui Po or year-breaker is at Hai mountain (NNW)-- avoid construction or digging.

San Sha or 3-killings are at Yin, Mao and Chen mountains (Yin mountain to Chen mountain region) -- avoid construction or digging.  It is OK to face San Sha direction but NOT sitting on them. Traditional fix for San Sha is ki-lun figurine.  But if you cannot get or afford ki-lun, you may use a sword-waving archangel St. Michael figurine or picture instead.

5-yellow disaster star at center palace - avoid construction or digging and movements.  Put up metal or coin/salt solution fix there, especially if your house-sitting is in SW because of the 2-5 combination in the center.  Put up a white crystal fix if your house-sitting is in the south due to 9-5 combination in the center. (Note: North-sitting house needs 9-5 fix in the South and Northeast- sitting house needs 2-5 fix in SW).

5-tiger sha at Wu (south) , Wei (SSW) and Ding (SSW) mountains-- avoid construction or digging and movements.

Yang nobleman sign for this year is  Si (snake).  Yin nobleman is Mao (rabbit).

You need to do a good date-selection if you need to do construction in any of the above locations (mountains/ palace) or better doing it before end of the current year (dragon year).

People with pig and snake zodiac sign should avoid seeing corpse being put into a coffin or burial for this year.

Digging in the south side of your house?

I went to an eye exam today and saw the eye doctor walk on "4" legs (crutches). Out of curiosity, I have asked him how he got hurt.

"A few weeks ago, I dug up a large tree trunk in my garden."

Before he continued, I had interrupted, "Is the garden in the south side of your house?"

"How do you know?" Asked the doctor.

"Chinese secret!" I answered.

"My kids want to keep the tree trunk, so I have stored it in the garage." He continued.

"A few days later, I walked through the passage of the garage which normally I could walk with my eyes closed. I got trapped down by the tree trunk and broke my ankle!"

I told him it is not a good idea to dig in the South this year. The energy there is not too friendly.

A student's friend was building a front porch in the southern side of his property earlier this year. Recently a cyst had grown on his neck and needs a minor surgery to remove it. A supposedly simple procedure got complications with blood problem and infection.

For the Rat year (2008), the south has the following negative energies:
: 5 –yellow Disaster Star
: San Sha (Three Killings)
--- Bing/S1 – Pinch Sha
--- Wu/S2 – Disaster Sha
---Ding/S3 – Pinch Sha
: Wu Dao Ti Sha – Wu/S2*
: Jia Dao Ti Sha – Ding/S3*
: Sui Po (Wu/S2) (year breaker, opposite side of Grand Duke)

With unusually high concentration of negative energies in one direction, you should avoid renovations or earth-digging in the south this year. If you have no choice, you need to do a good date-selection to mitigate the effects.

One may ask, I know people who had dug in the south and still have no problem. Yes, no problem YET. There are cases where the effect of violation is delayed even to a few years later. Some teachers describe these energies are like "fair weather friends"-- they ignore or even enhance your luck IF your current luck is good. BUT they will step on you all over if your current luck is on the low side. OR sometimes they "ambush" you when your good luck is gone!

Precautions for the Year of Mouse (2008)

Wu-zi mouse year is only 2 months away. You may want to
know which directions are not suitable for construction or
'earth-moving' for next year, so you can do it before this
year is over.

Wu-zi year is another not-so-friendly year like bing-xu
year for some people.

Wu-earth combines with gui-water to form fire. Adding more
fire to some 4P charts may mean caner or heart related
problems.

Wu-earth muddies up ren-water. People with Ren-water
day-master may go nuts or make stupid decisions if attacked
by wu-earth.

Zi-water clashes wu-fire. People with wu day-branch may
have traffic accident or surgery or martial problems.

Zi-water and mao-wood form a serious penalty. It can jinx
yourself or your close relative.

Zi-water forms 3-unity or semi-3-unity combination with
shen-metal and/or chen-earth. If your chart likes water,
it will be great, esp. if water is your wealth element. If
otherwise, pray or take my future "destiny management"
course on how to handle this situation.

People with mao, you, and wu in their charts will need to
sweat it out when zi year arrives. Formation of
zi-wu-mao-you clash can mean major disaster. This is
called "4-cardinal clashes". Again, pray, do charity works
and/or take my "destiny management" course.

Here are some major precautions:

1. 5-yellow star will be in the south. Sui-Po or year
breaker will also be in the south or wu-mountain.
--- avoid digging or construction; avoid movements

2. Grand Duke or Tai Sui will be in zi mountain or in the
North.
--- avoid digging or construction; you can sit on GD
location but not facing it.

3. San Sha or 3-killings will be in the South (si, wu, ding
mountains)
--- definitely avoid movement or digging here, Sui-po and
5-yellow are also in this palace!

4. The auspicious 8-star will be in the east and 9-purple
star in the SE. You may want some movements here.

People with horse and mouse animal signs and were born in
the first, fifth and eleventh months of the lunar calendar
should avoid attending funeral for the year.
