Embracing (your God's name) when running into emergency

Chinese has a saying: "Embracing Buddha's leg when running into emergency" for people who do not really care about their religious belief when they have no urgent problem in life.  It is the opposite of "fair weather friend" to God or deity.

My old classmate John in Hong Kong runs into a few obstacles since the Year of Rat (2020) comes.  Lately he has abdominal pain when waking up in the morning.  He went to a hospital, did some tests and was waiting for the results.

A Hongkonger runs into this situation usually may also consult a fortune-teller or go to a temple to do a divination to find out what is the problem.  But John is an atheist and does not care much.

However, his wife Mary believes in Buddhism and Daoism.  She thinks John's horse animal sign clashing current year's Grand Duke (rat sign), is the cause of his problems.  She told him to go to a temple to pray and make offering to Grand Duke.

Mary took John to a temple and found it is closed to the public due to the coronavirus.  It seems his "embracing Grand Duke's leg when running into emergency" attempt does not pan out.

John told me his Grand Duke problem while chatting online with me.  He does not know I do Grand Duke Talisman charity drive every year.  So I have sent him the GD talisman file.

2018 Grand Duke Talisman Charity Drive

This post is based on 2017 "Grand Duke Talisman charity drive" with updates for 2018.

If you have read my old message about functions of Grand Duke, you know that there are two Grand Dukes watching over your shoulder, counting the good and bad deeds that you have done and executing rewards and misfortunes accordingly. This is a major rationale that donation to get your Grand Duke talisman.  When your talisman is grounded with a charitable deed, GD is less likely to execute any misfortunes due from your karma account. Another rationale for donation is the exchange of energy-- using a charitable deed in exchange of protection energy from Grand Duke.

Like last year, I have added the topic for house violating Grand Duke, the cure is either avoiding activities/ earth-digging or using the Grand Duke talisman in the Grand Duke location.

2018 GRAND DUKE GENERAL JIANG WU   姜武大將軍

2018 is Wu-xu or year of earth-dog. Grand Duke for the year is General Jiang Wu who was a military officer in 16th century Ming Dynasty.  Jiang had passed his Imperial military officer exam in 1622 and became an officer renowned for neutralizing banditry.  In 1642, he was ordered to rescue the embattled and besieged national army in Kaifeng City of Henan Province.  General Jiang had refused to retreat when cohort armies were defeated and escaped.  He had kept on fighting and terminating many bandit soldiers until he himself was killed.  He was awarded "róng lù dà fū" (榮祿大夫, similar to western knighthood) posthumously which was inheritable by his descendants.

2018年狗年，年干支“戊戌”，太歲為姜武大將軍,。在明代時降生在保德州（今山東省保德縣一帶），天啟二年（1622年）科舉中武舉人，被授予大同威遠守備（今山西省大同市）的官職；崇禎（1628-1643年）初年，升遷為大水峪游擊，建造了杏山城，又遷為宣府西城參將，捕殺了大盜王科，又調守宣府右衛，擢升為通州（今北京市通縣一帶）副總兵，守護皇室諸陵墓；十五年（1642年），跟隨保定總督楊文岳援救開封守軍。當時隨行其他營的軍隊都潰敗而逃散了，唯有姜武的軍隊，堅定防守，毫不動搖。清晨，賊軍蜂擁殺來，姜武親自率軍血戰，殺賊軍達數百人。由于力量耗盡，姜武在怒斥賊軍無義中英勇犧牲。后被贈進榮祿大夫，右都督蔭外衛，世襲總旗。

2018  GRAND DUKE TALISMAN FOR BAZI CLASHES
Wu-xu or year of earth-dog can be challenging for people with Jia-chen and/or Ren-chen pillar in their Bazi charts because these pillars "fan-yin" or "battle" with both the stem and branch of 2018 Grand Duke. It is especially serious if your day-pillar is Jia-chen or Ren-chen because it means something may happen to you or your spouse.

5 out of 12 animal signs have "violated" Grand Duke because dog sign forms 3-penalities with ram and ox.  Dog also clashes dragon and "prosecutes" rooster.

In addition, besides the year branch, if any branch in your Bazi chart has a chen-dragon, that branch is also clashing Grand Duke.  The effect may be seen from the people and events represented by that branch location.  For example, if you have a chen month branch clash, the effect may happen to daymasters' parent or sibling. 

In general, "clashing Grand Duke" is the most serious violation.   This means people with dragon animal sign should be more cautious this year.

If fortunately or unfortunately, you chart somehow has a xu-chou-wei (dog-ox-ram) 3-penalties, the outcome could be positive or disastrous depending if earth element is favorable or unfavorable to your chart.

Here are the five groups of people who need Grand Duke Talismans:

"Fu-yin" or same animal sign of Grand Duke 值太岁-- people with dog sign
DOG (years born: 1934, 1946, 1958, 1970,  1982, 1994, 2006, 2018)
Symptoms: obstacles, stagnation or running "reverse" instead of forward and not suitable for travels; overspending, digestive sickness, headache, sleeping problem, traffic/ crashing injuries, prone to divorce or separation, money quarrels, do not partnership or offer loans to people;  Damages in career and wealth luck and relationship.   

"Fan-yin" or "clashing" the animal sign of Grand Duke 冲太岁-- people with dragon sign
DRAGON (years born: 1940, 1952, 1964, 1976,  1988, 2000, 2012)
Symptoms: big fluctuations and changes in luck, wealth, career, relationship and health; traffic accident, sickness like liver, eyes, intestine and stomach, surgery, may be pregnant, losing competitions/wealth, moving, death,  negative romance, quarrels and etc.
SPECIAL NOTE:  If your were born in a dragon day or dragon hour, you are also clashing Grand Duke for 2018!

 "Hai" or "prosecuting" the animal sign of Grand Duke 害太岁-- people with rooster sign
ROOSTER (years born: 1945, 1957, 1969, 1981,  1993, 2005, 2017) 
Symptoms: better luck than 2017; backstabbing at work, bad interpersonal relationship, marital disharmony,  jinxing close relatives (esp. older ones, spouse and children),  jealousy from others and minor health problems   

"Xing" or "penalizing" the animal sign of Grand Duke 刑太岁---- people with ox sign 
OX (years born: 1937, 1949, 1961, 1973,  1985, 1997, 2009)

Symptoms:  conflicts, backstabbing, injury, financial disagreements, lawsuits, scares, be careful with friends, romance problem and negative peach blossoms.

"Po" or "damaging"  (also penalizing) the animal sign of Grand Duke 破太岁---- people with ram sign 
RAM (years born: 1931, 1943, 1955, 1967, 1979, 1991, 2003, 2015) 
Symptoms:  busy for trivial things, consuming/ losing wealth, minor health problems, negative romance, marital problem, backstabbing, prone to missing articles and obstacles in work.

In 2018 wu-xu year, if your house faces xu-dog mountain or NW1 (292.5 to 307.5 degree, ) direction, your house is said to be "violating Grand Duke."  House violating GD will affect the overall luck, health and well-being of the people living inside.  The remedy is either avoiding movements, construction, earth-digging and demolition there or put up a Grand Duke talisman facing NW1 direction.  The opposite side of Grand Duke is Year-breaker (Sui-po, SE1).  This location should avoid digging and activities too. 

Even with the GD talisman, if you need to do construction, you still need to do a date-selection for an auspicious date and start digging on a non-GD direction and finish last on the GD direction. 

Desk violating Grand Duke 
If your desk or wherever you sit for an extended time faces Xu-dog mountain or NW1 direction, you can put up a Grand Duke talisman there for protection.  It is not auspicious to face the Grand Duke direction.  It weakens your competition power in business/career and examinations. However, if you arrange your seat so that NW1 will be at your back (and put a Grand Duke talisman there), you will get Grand Duke as support and is good for competition and business. 

Moving direction violating Grand Duke
If you move to a new house or residence, the relative direction from your old house to the new house is facing NW1 grand Duke direction, you are considered "violating GD".  Remedy will be choosing an auspicious date to move or at the least, choose a different route of traveling, like driving to a different direction in the beginning, take a break for 15 minutes or more and then to the final destination.  This will convert the original GD direction to a non-GD direction. You may carry a GD talisman too. 

Marriage direction violating Grand Duke
If you get married and the relative direction of your new marital residence to the old residence is facing NW1 grand Duke direction,  you are considered "violating GD".  Remedy will be choosing an auspicious date to move or at the least, choose a different route of traveling, like driving to a different direction in the beginning, take a break for 15 minutes or more and then to the final destination.  This will convert the original GD direction to a non-GD direction.  You may carry a GD talisman too. 

GRAND DUKE TALISMAN OFFERS

Minimal date-selection for the masses

Note:  The following is an excerpt from the "Days to avoid" chapter of  my "Practical Date-Selection Methods" video course.  It is modified here for people who cannot afford this video course for the time being. So they can at least avoid some bad dates.

DAYS TO AVOID

Regardless of the date-selection system you are using, you should not use certain days within a year.  Remove these days from your consideration will reduce the number of days to analyse.

Generally, it is still possible to use these days IF other methods say that they are good. In particular, you may use them if the four pillar analysis shows that the day is strong in your favorable element and some other date-selection methods, like XKDG also approves it.

There are 7 types of days to be avoided:

1.      Year Breaker (Sui Po)

2.      Month Breaker (Yue Po)

3.      Day Breaker (Ri Po)

4.      Big Consumption (Da Hao)

5.      Yearly San Sha

6.      Monthly San Sha

7.      Daily San Sha

For simplicity and practical purposes, we will cover only year, month and day breaker here plus an important tip at the end of this message (the course manual covers everything listed above).  This should be suffice for common applications.  The goal here is not choosing the best date but to avoid bad dates, which is much easier to do for non-professionals.  No bad things happen to you is the next best thing to good things happen. 

Year Breaker (Sui Po)

If you use a year breaker day:

·        Frustrations. Things do not flow.

·        Arguments and conflicts.

·        Business negotiations will be unsuccessful.

·        Contracts and marriages are unsuccessful.

If possible, avoid using the month that breaks the year as well.  In some scenarios,  you  may not be able to avoid a whole month if the activity or event must be held within the month.

Month Breaker (Yue Po)

If you use the month breaker day:

·        Frustrations. Things do not flow.

·        Arguments and conflicts.

·        Business negotiations will be unsuccessful.

·        Contracts and marriages are unsuccessful.

Day Breaker (Ri Po)

This is slightly different from Sui Po and Yue Po. The day is broken by the animal sign of the hour. This is relatively minor, compared to the other two breakers.

If you use a day breaker hour:

·        Frustrations. Things do not flow.

·        Arguments and conflicts.

·        Business negotiations will be unsuccessful.

·        Contracts and marriages are unsuccessful.

How to find or calculate the animal signs of a date and hour?  Simply go to the following website and type in the target date and hour.

To get the animal signs, you need to click the box options in the top right side of the screen as show here.  That is, choose "Ken Lai Method" and "Pillars: English" options.

You will find the animal listed at the branch (EB) level of the :

-- year pillar (to find out your birth animal sign if keying in your birth date;  or if you key in the target date, the year pillar will be the Grand Duke or the animal sign of the year)

-- month pillar  (month animal sign)

-- day pillar  (day animal sign)

-- hour pillar (hour animal sign)

Besides avoiding year, month and day breakers, the date/time chosen should not clash the animal sign/s of the user/s.  If you cannot avoid clashing someone's animal sign in a group situation, simply avoid clashing the principal or bread-winner of the family or company.

To summarize, when choosing a date, avoid clashing:  the current year's Grand Duke (Tai Sui) or animal sign,  the animal sign of the month,  the animal sign of the day and the animal sign of the user or client (dead or alive).

However, for important events and activities, you probably should consult other date-selection methods like XKDG, QMDJ,  4-Pillars and etc., or hire a professional to do the date-selection for you.
