Are these the Faces or Ghosts of Coronavirus?

This morning I watch a BBC news report "Coronavirus: How bad is the situation in Europe?"

At the beginning of the video, it shows a static photo of a city worker spraying disinfectant onto the street.   Below is an unretouched screen capture:

Click the picture to enlarge it to see the details of the mist.  Can you see the spray mist formed several ghost-like faces, especially the one in front of the white car?  It looks like the ghost in "Scary Movie".

The newsman does not specify the location of this photo other than it is taken in Europe.  I guess it is either in France or Italy.

In case you cannot figure out the ghost faces, I have marked at 4 faces in the photo below.  There are more than 4 ghost faces in the photo.

The red arrow points to the street number "25"  location of the street.  "2" is the sickness star and "5" is the 5-yellow disaster star in Chinese Feng Shui.  "Yin" or dark energies are likely accumulated in area with 2-5 number combinations.  We usually see police station, hospital or clinics with 25 or 52 street numbers. 

Ordinary citizens other than policemen, doctors and military people should not live in street number 25 or 52 because their energies cannot overcome the "yin" energies there.  Houses with these street numbers are more likely haunted.

Age Analysis: Las Vegas Mass Shooting Victims

This article is an analysis of the age distribution of the deceased victims of Las Vegas mass shooting.  The objective is to check if certain age numbers tend to show up more than others.  In other words, certain numbers are less auspicious or not as fortunate than others.  Hopefully the finding may help people to improve their safety planning for their future activities.

BELIEF OR SUPERSTITION IN NUMBERS
In most western cultures, the number "7" is a lucky number whereas in China, seven is associated with death rituals.

The 4-leaf cover is a symbol of luck in at least the Irish culture.  The number four sounds like "death" in Chinese and is often avoided like by eliminating the 4th/ 14th/ 24th/ 34th/ 44th floor in a building or street address.

The number six sounds like "official wealth" in Chinese and hence considered auspicious.  However, the number "666" is dreaded by western cultures.

The number that is most adored by the Chinese is the number "8".  "Eight" sounds like "prosperity" or "getting rich" in Chinese.  Chinese likes to bid on anything -- car license plate, street or apartment number that contains the number eight.  Eight is considered the luckiest number by the Chinese.

The number "nine" sounds like "forever" or "lasting" in Chinese.  So it well received by the Chinese.  However, zero is the beginning of the number journey and"nine" is the last digit and final destination.  "Nine" is sometimes treated as a major "hurdle" for reaching another 10 years of life expectancy by Chinese astrology readers.

TESTING METHODOLOGY
Age distribution of Las Vegas victims is tabulated and percentages are calculated.  Because the nature of the event (country music concert) in the incident tends to attract certain age groups, only the last digit of victim's age number is used for calculation.  This may eliminate the age-groups bias.  See the table below:

DATA ANALYSIS
With a total of 58 cases and 10 digits (0- 9), the average is 5.8.  So theoretically, each number should show up five to six times.  Therefore, if there are 5- 6 cases or around 10% for a number, this number is pretty "neutral" or neither auspicious nor inauspicious.  Hence, the green rows with age digit number 1, 2 and 6 in table above are "neutral".

The rows in red color are below 7% mean fewer people died with these age digit numbers.  This means number 3, 7 and 9 are more auspicious, especially number "7" with only one case.  This indeed provides strong support on the western belief that number "7" is relatively lucky.

The rows with bold black entries have over 13% frequency.  Number "4" has 12 cases or 20.7%-- the highest frequency in the data.  Even the gunman has the number "4" in his current age of 64. This supports the Chinese belief that number "4" is inauspicious.  A shocking number is age "34" which shows up 7 times-- the highest exact age number frequency in this data set.  Age 34 probably is a year that people should be vigilant in planning for travels and events.

The biggest surprise is number "8" with a pretty high frequency of 8 cases or 13.8%.  This disputes the Chinese belief that number 8 is very auspicious.  Another shocking number is exact age number "28" which shows up 6 times-- the second highest frequency in this data set.  Age 28 probably is also a year that people should be vigilant in planning for travels and events too.

Another surprise is the number "zero" with the second highest frequency of 9 cases or 15.5%.  We expect that the number "9" should have higher frequency than the number "zero" because "9" is the end of the number journey.  But "zero" has much higher frequency.  Hence, people with age number ending with "0" should be vigilant in that year. This also disproves the Chinese belief that "10" is "completion" and "perfection", especially in certain Feng Shui schools.

CONCLUSION
Based on the data from Las Vegas mass shooting and perhaps any unexpected mass catastrophe,  the most dangerous age numbers are when one's age number ends with the number "four", followed by "zero" and "eight".  The most dangerous ages in this Las Vegas group are 28 and 34.  People with any of these age characteristics should plan the activities with more security options accordingly.

Lucky car license numbers

In North America, if you visit cities with large concentration of Chinese like Los Angels, San Francisco, Toronto or Vancouver,  you can easily spot luxury cars with license plates full with the numbers 3, 8, and 9.  99% of the time, you can guess the car owners are Chinese.

Chinese people are superstitious about these numbers because they sound auspicious to them.  The number "3" sounds like "growing or growth" and "alive or live".  The number "8" sounds like "prosperity or making big money".  Number "9" sounds like "forever or long-lasting".

License plate with special combinations of these numbers, like "989898"  ("making big money forever"), "383838" ("growing big money") or simply "888888" ("making big money") and the likes are routinely auction off by the governments in Hong Kong and China for big money.

V99999 was auctioned for RMB$ 3.2M

Recently in a city in Guangdong Province of China,  a group of  special car license plate numbers were auctioned off.  Below are the prices:

1. "V99999" was auctioned off for RMB$ 3.2 Million (US$463k). This is the highest priced license number in China.
2. "V88888" was auctioned off for RMB$ 2.5 Million (US$362k).
3. "V89999" was auctioned off for RMB$ 1.6 Million (US$232k).
4. "V89888" was auctioned off for RMB$ 1.0 Million (US$145k).

Some netizens joke about the V99999 and V88888 license plates by counting the number of 8 and 9 in each plate.  There are FIVE number 9 in V99999 and also FIVE number 8 in V88888.  The word "five" sounds like "not or no" in local Cantonese dialect ("唔 wu").  Hence, when  the car license plate is pronounced, it becomes:

• Five "8"  -- so in local dialect, "Five 8" sounds like "no prosperity or not making big money"! (粵V88888，5個8(唔發)。車主一世都唔發…。)
• Five "9"  (the "9" pronounce as  "gou" which means "enough or sufficient")-- so in local dialect, "Five 9" sounds like "not enough or sufficient"! (粵V99999，5個9(唔夠)。車主一世都唔夠…。)

Does this numerology fetish work?  At the minimum it provides a psychological boost to create the belief that luck is on your side because of this auspicious license plate.  The huge sum paid for this license plate also projects an aura of being a successful person and is also a form of conspicuous consumption.

Similar number fetishes also happen in email addresses (like my email address kenlai88@yahoo.com), cell phone numbers and even street addresses or apartment numbers.

Chinese numerology: 201314 爱你一生一世

Today is January 4, 2013 or 201314 for short.  The number "201314"  sounds like literally "Love (2) you (0) this (1) lifetime (3) and (1) generation (4)" in Chinese (爱你一生一世).  This romantic implication has created long lines in the marriage registration bureaus in China.  Would-be couples want to get their marriage licenses today for this auspicious meaning.

What can you do if you have missed this good date for marriage registration?  Don't worry, you have almost a year to do it because 2013 is still around.  Besides, 201314 is not the best number because "4" also sounds like "dead" in Chinese.  It can also be read as "love (2) you (0) one (1) survives (3) one (1) dies (4) (爱你一生一死)

Let me give you some good dates in terms of Chinese numerology.

• January 18, 2013 or 2013118:  This number sounds like "Love you this lifetime (and) prosperity everyday".

Why did mobile #0888-888-888 jinxe its owners?

UK's Daily Mail reports that Mobitel of Bulgaria had suspended mobile phone number 0888-888-888 because every user assigned to this line had died in the last ten years.

"The first owner, Vladimir Grashnov - the former CEO of Bulgarian mobile phone company Mobitel, which issued the number - died of cancer in 2001 aged just 48....there were persistent rumours that his cancer had been caused by a business rival using radioactive poisoning."

"The jinxed number then passed to Bulgarian mafia boss Konstantin Dimitrov..... He was gunned down in 2003 by a lone assassin in the Netherlands during a trip to inspect his £500 million drug-smuggling empire.

Dimitrov, who died aged 31, had the mobile with him when he was shot while eating out with a beautiful model."

"The phone number then passed to crooked businessman Konstantin Dishliev....He was gunned down outside an Indian restaurant in Bulgaria's capital Sofia in 2005, after taking over the jinxed line."

Chinese regards the number 8 as very auspicious because it sounds like "prosperity" or "getting wealthy". If you go to wherever Chinese are congregated, like Chinatowns, you will see many cars with license plate number full of 8s.

A mobile # with all "8"s will be auctioned off in China and Hong Kong for a very high price.

Why these unfortunate Bulgarians died in cancer or violent deaths with such an auspicious phone number?  Does the Chinese have a monopoly on the number 8?

There are a few possible explanations.  First, in Chinese numerology, the number 1, 6 and 8 are considered auspicious and "righteous".  When someone who is less than righteous, like these mafia boss and crooked businessman, using this phone number with strong "righteous" energy would be counter-productive to their type of non-righteous energy and activities.

Second possible reason is similar to first one.  This one deals with user's blessing. These people may have enough blessing or karma for a few 8s, but not nine 8s! According to Yi-Jing (Book of Changes), too much of a good thing will turn to negative.

This 0888-888-888 phone line should be assigned to a charity organization and it will bring in more donations

Extreme real estate marketing-- no more!

Last October I had written about a Hong Kong real estate developer who markets a 40 storeys buildings as an 88-storeys one by skipping certain "inauspicious floor numbers" (the 4s and 13) and pumping up the auspicious ones (the 8s).  The following link can refresh your memory:

In order to protect the gullible billionaires and wealthy pandas from China (who tend to buy expensive real estates), the Hong Kong Government has just issued the following new law regarding the labeling of floor numbers:
1.  no jumping or skipping of floor numbers (except below)
2.  only floor number with 4, 13 and last digit is 4 can be skipped.

The law will be effective from September 1, 2010.  This means a builder can only legally skip 4th, 13th, 14th or any number ending with 4, but not skipping any number starting with 4.   Therefore, new building with missing 40th to 49th floors will not be seen again after 9/1/2010.  Builders are out of luck to arbitarily skipping bad numbers or adding hot-selling floor numbers.

The number 4 sounds like "death" in Chinese.  Some "smart" masters think they can consider 4 as the academic and romance star used in the Flying Star system.  This may block the negative vibes or phobia-- hopefully. 

Certain Feng Shui schools use floor number to calculate if a particular floor is "in luck" or matching the magnetic profile of the residents.  An "artificial" floor number probably will not cut it and requires the actual floor number to do the calculation.
