"Death is a topic that most people avoid talking about.  First edition of this date-selection course had no coverage of burial.  A few years later a table on when to do burial is added.  Not until last year (2018) when there were two cases of a friend's family had 2 inter-generational deaths within a month, had alarmed me about the importance of date-selection for burial.  I had the burial data of only one of the two cases.  What had happened was the first burial date had clashed a family member's animal sign. That person had died of a sudden brain hemorrhage in a few weeks. 

Burial and funeral date-selection are a huge topic within date-selection which would take a few months to learn.  In this chapter, the goal is not finding the best dates and location for burial because this requires extensive Bazi and Feng Shui knowledge.  The simple goal is to AVOID using the most negative days for burial.  It is more for the safety of the surviving relatives of the deceased than enhancing prosperity.  No negative event happened to your client is as good as not losing money (and lives) for him/ her." 

The above paragraphs are the introduction of a new chapter on funeral added in my "Practical Date-selection Methods" course.  No one can escape choosing a date for funeral eventually.  My goal is to prevent deaths due to inauspicious date-selection of funeral dates.  I know not everyone can afford my course or hire a Feng Shui master to do the selection for them.  Hence I put the summary of this chapter on funeral date-selection here: 

For the deceased:

* Do not choose a funeral/ burial day that clash the animal sign of the deceased

* Do not choose a funeral/ burial day that clash the day-pillar of the deceased

* Do not bury the deceased in the sitting mountain of the deceased animal sign 

For the living close relatives of the deceased 

* Do not use a funeral/ burial day that clash the animal sign of any close relative

* Do not use the Month Breaker day月破日

* Do not use the Double Deaths day重喪日

* Do not use the Triple Deaths day三 喪日

Mudslides Buried Feng Shui Master Alive

A Hong Kong celebrity Feng Shui Master Zheng went to China for a Yin Feng Shui reburial job in March 30 (Geng-zi day) 2014,  A rare "black rain" thunderstorm came causing mudslide in the cemetery and buried him and 6 others alive.

The incident happened when they lowered the coffin to the grave. Due to custom, women were requested to stay away and thus no female died.

Geng-zi day is a year-breaker day. (zi clashes wu-year). In addition, the date  fan-yin (clashing) Grand Duke Jia Wu from head to toe.  The wrath of Grand Duke is horrific-- 6 deaths and one injured.

You may ask:  a famous Feng Shui master should have known a breaker date is not a good day to do important tasks, especially a reburial.

However, there are date-selection systems that do not care about traditional inauspicious or taboo dates like year breaker, San Sha and etc.,  like QMDJ and Gui-Gu-Zi methods.  Master Zheng might be using something like that because it is inconceivable to do a reburial without doing a date-selection to avoid clashing the deceased and the living. 

This is why I always remind my students to stay away from traditional inauspicious dates even the date-selection  system that they employ does not care about these taboos.  Besides,  some clients may have general knowledge of these taboo dates and question them if they use those dates.  

In 2007, the 35W Bridge in Minnesota also had collapsed in a breaker day.

Do not do anything important or potentially changing destiny of someone during an inauspicious date.

"Coolest Tourist" or Feng Shui Hitchhiker?

China's Qing East Tombs (清东陵) is famous for its imperial tombs and auspicious Feng Shui. It was built in 1611 with 157 imperial family members including 5 emperors and 15 queens buried there.  It attracts many tourists and Feng Shui tour groups.

In May 20, 2011,  a mysterious tourist went to a site parallel to the tomb of emperor Shunzhi (r. 1644-61),  dug a hole and attempted to bury the ash box of his deceased father there.

Tomb security people had stopped and arrested this man.  He told the security that he thought if he could bury his father's cremated ashes in this imperial tomb with auspicious Feng Shui,  he and his descendants will enjoy prosperity and good luck.

Other tourists called this man the "coolest tourist" while some netizens called him "Brother Superstition" (迷信哥).

Brother Superstition was "criticized" and "educated" while in captivity.  He had admitted "guilt" on the spot and was released.  Apparently the Tomb Security authority thinks that being a laughing stock is a good enough punishment for this Feng Shui nut.  The news was broadcast on TV and newspapers across China.

Brother Superstition should come to the United States where the Bush family tombs are located.  It must have great Feng Shui because it has already produced two U.S. presidents and one governor.  But his problem is that cremated ashes do not give strong "resonance" to the descendants than burial remains (bones).  The descendants may become president's butlers or housemaids instead of presidents or governors.   It is also difficult to "hitch" a spot near the Bush family plot if he tries to get a big bag of bones into the ground.

According to many great Feng Shui legends, good Feng Shui (tomb and residential) is only part of the equation to riches and fame.  It takes many generations of cultivation and accumulation of  merits and virtues for a family to produce to a high ranking official like an emperor or president.

This has something to do with the idea of "Blessed people reside in blessed land" -- whether these blessed people are dead or alive.

The last thing people will say is:  "because I'm an ass or I did something bad."

For Chinese in Taiwan, they are likely to say, "It must be something wrong with my fortune or Feng Shui.  Let me consult a lao-shi."  Lao-shi means "teacher" or "master" in Chinese.  People in Hong Kong will pretty much say the same thing, except they call lao-shi as shi-fu.

They luckier ones may have their own steady fortune-teller who is more than likely, also a Feng Shui master.

The master will check the client's 4-pillar or ZWDS chart and see if the client is in a bad annual or 10-year luck period.  If there is nothing wrong with luck period, the master will suggest checking the Feng Shui of client's residence.   If there is nothing wrong with client's house Feng Shui, the master will suggest checking the tomb Feng Shui of client's deceased close-relatives.

For those who do not have a trusted master, they are likely running into not-so capable "master" who will mess up their Feng Shui even more --- due to their current bad luck!

I have taught some seminars in Mexico in the last few years.  For Mexicans, at least for those that I run into, when faced with  "My current luck sucks, ..........." situation, their likely response will be:

"Someone has voodooed me!"

This seems to be a "standard" response from South Americans as even their leaders like Venezuela's Chavez have their own voodoo guys.

According to them, the "sign" that someone has done witchcraft on you is that your home suddenly has flies flying around.  They will need to find a more powerful voodoo guy to expell the spell on them.

Does Feng Shui Shrimp need water? A case in XKDG date-selection.

I ran into an interesting Xuan-Kong-Da-Gua (XKDG) date-selection case in Hong Kong in last April.

A local master was solicited to do a date-selection for the renovation of an ancient tomb. The tomb houses the founding ancestral couple of a local clan.

The formation of this tomb is called "Literacy Shrimp Frolicking with Water" (文蝦戲水). This is a typical San He (3-harmony) job which likes to "naming imagery based on forms" (呼形喝象). The original master thought the form around the tomb looks like a shrimp playing with water. Water is also associated with intelligence and hence literacy. So this "shrimp" is a smart shrimp. By naming it "literacy shrimp", hopefully, the descendants will be learned scholars.

The local master wrote, "This is a shrimp form, if the selected day has no water (rain), the shrimp will die! If it rains, we can't initiate construction. This is really a tough job."

This is the date selected, June 12, 2007, Wu hour:

Year: Ding Hai; 8 zhen/ kun 8
Month: Bing Wu; 4 dui/ xun 3
Day: Ding Chou; 4 dui/ zhen 7
Hour: Bing Wu; 4 dui/ xun 3

"The observatory had issued a thunderstorm warning in early morning of the selected day." The local master said. "It had rained heavily in Si hour (9:01- 11am). Sunshine came out during Wu hour (11:01- 13:00). We did the renovation during Wu hour and finished within 2 hours. The sky then turned cloudy during first half of Wei hour (13:01- 14:00). By that time the cement had dried. It had rained again during the second half of Wei hour. We are fortunate to get help from heaven!"

Well, it seems even Feng Shui shrimp based on imagery needs 5-elements support. In my next post, I will tell you how to learn XKDG date-selection in an hour and how much this Hong Kong master charges for XKDG date-selection.

WET FENG SHUI

Got your attention? Too bad, this is not what you think.

I saw a Discovery Channel program about burial at sea. Someone invented a new sea burial method-- mixing the ashes of deceased with cement to build an artificial coral reef and sink it into the sea. So the deceased will become sea creature habitat.

Then a pal in Singapore emailed me an ad for underwater pagoda burial.

Singapore is a tiny country with limited space for burial. Some marketers think of mixing ashes of the deceased with cement and mould it into cement blocks. Then treat the blocks with water- resistant compound and build it into a pagoda. The pagoda will be sunk into sea with an anchor and GPS.

So do you think your love ones will be happy to be wet 24x7?

I think westerners may have no problem of becoming an artificial coral reef after they died. For Chinese, this will be a tough sell.

According to yin Feng Shui, it is a big "no-no" for tombs that are flooded with water. Extreme bad-luck and strange diseases will befall to the descendants of the deceased.

However, in these cases where the deceased are cremated, the effect on descendants may not be as potent. The ashes are essentially carbon.

In any event, personally I don't like spending my eternity wet. I'll tell you a fun alternative in my next msg. So don't kill yourself yet until you have read my next msg.

Titanic Feng Shui

Note: The following was written around 2003

Titanic Feng Shui? Do you mean underwater Feng Shui? No, I just want to grab your attention.

When Titanic sank, the rescuers had recovered only one child body. The surviving crew members donated money and erected a monument unscripted with "Erected to the memory of an unknown child died in Titanic April 15, 1912." The town people of Halifax attended the unknown child's funeral in a grand fashion—he represented all the children died in the tragedy.

In the last few weeks the public TV here (U.S.) airs a special on how DNA scientists identified the unknown child's DNA and tracked down his relatives.

Many of the Titanic victims were buried in Halifax (Canada). To obtain some DNAs from the victims, the DNA scientists must exhume their graves.

(Now some yin Feng Shui)

Assuming you are a graduate of any yin Feng Shui class, how can you tell, by just looking at the tombstone—if the grave is flooded, if the body became mummified, if the descendants (or direct relatives) are prosperous, if the descendants are lustful, if the descendants become outlaws,.......

An experienced yin Feng Shui guy should be able to tell without digging up the graves. Old tombs like the Titanic ones are great for case studies of yin Feng Shui as there are extensive genealogical researches done.

(Now at the cemetery)

The cemetery where the Titanic victims were buried was built on a hill slope. The yin Feng Shui would be reasonably good if the backs of the tombstones (and coffins too) are facing the hill slope. Unfortunately, this cemetery was designed more for the living than the dead. Tombs' orientations are based on the pavements (pathways), so you have some tombstones facing the hill slope and some are opposite. The unknown child and quite a few of the Titanic victims' tombs are on the "wrong" side, according to yin Feng Shui standard.

Besides the unknown child, DNA scientists also want to ascertain the DNAs of a couple victims buried there. They have obtained DNAs of surviving relatives.

When they exhumed the graves of other victims, they found the graves were flooded and no bones or any DNA-worthy materials were recovered. This is not a big surprise, considering the tombs are almost 90 years old.

Then they exhumed the grave of the unknown child. It was not flooded. But only a tiny bone and 3 teeth were recovered. A DNA scientist said that the tiny bone is an outcry of the unknown child to be identified.

To keep the long story short, their first attempt to identify the child has failed. Then they found the teeth recovered were baby teeth of less than 1 year old. Researchers have identified a finnish passenger with 5 kids, including a baby boy. In turn, they have located a relative in Finland and took some DNA samples.
