Feng Shui for your dog

Why some people's dogs are sick all the time while others are strong and healthy? This may be due to their "dog Feng Shui".

Dog is one of the 12 Chinese zodiac animals. Under this system, dog is located in NW or the "Xu" mountain of the 24 mountains system in Feng Shui.

The 12 zodiac animals also represent the earthly branch system in Chinese metaphysics and calendar system. Dog or Xu combines with tiger ("Yin") and horse ("Wu"). It also combines with rabbit ("Mao"). So the directions represented by these animals will be favorable to dog.

If your main door is located in one of the following directions, it will be good for dog-raising and your dog is likely be strong and healthy:

--NE (tiger) direction
--South (Horse) direction
--East (rabbit) direction
--NW (dog) direction
If your main door does not fall into none of these 4 favorable directions for dog, you can put your dog kennel in one of the above directions in your house or yard.

Dog clashes with dragon. Dragon stands for SE direction. So if your main door sits on SE, your dog may get sick more often. You at least put its kennel in one of the 4 good directions listed above.

Dog's elemental nature is earth. Earth produces metal. Too much metal will drain the health of your dog. So you should not put too many metal objects around your dog and avoid metal kennel.

Period 8 is current Feng Shui's time dimension. The ruling star is 8 or Gen trigram. Gen also stands for dog in Yi-jing (I-Ching, the Book of Changes). So taking good care of a dog means you are taking care of the ruler star 8 or your wealth! Go adopt a dog from your local Animal Humane Society will bring you more good luck during Period 8.

Question on wife beater and Bazi

A question from my "4P Bootcamp' discussion list:

"Ken, is there anything in a 4P chart that could show whether a man is prone to violence eg. domestic violence?"

This is an interesting but complicated question. It involves legal system too. For example, in Singapore, if you beat up your wife, the government will cane your ass, so husbands there will not beat up their wives even if their 4P show they may. For other "civilized" countries, besides 4P factors, it will become educational (and social class) question. Generally speaking, working class husbands are more likely to beat up their wives.

To figure out if a guy will beat up his wife or not, you need to check which stars affect personality negatively. Man with too many peer stars (bi-jian/ jie-cai) is likely to be an ass (selfish, stubborn) is one. Man with too many shang-guan (output or talent) is another. Man with many qi-sha (power star) with no control is prone to violence too, not only just beating up wife.

You also need to look at wife's chart-- chart with zheng-guan and qi-sha (power stars) "mixing up" and is also "unfavorable" , she is likely to be bully by man. Personally, I think the woman's chart determines if she will be beaten or not. Certain female chart will attract specific type of man. You see it all the time by observing celebrities.

The man who is both a Feng Shui genius AND a Feng Shui idiot

Is it possible for someone to be a Feng Shui genius AND Feng Shui idiot at the same time?

A case in point would be Nina Wang's $13 billion estate legal case in Hong Kong.

Tony Chan, Nina Wang's "secret lover", claims that Nina had paid him US$30M in cash and eventually willed her whole estate to him because of "love".

Nina's original heir, Chinachem Charity foundation claims that Nina paid US$30M to Tony for his "Feng Shui services" and NOT out of "love".

Each side of the litigating party has found their own "expert Feng Shui witness" to testify about the "prowness" or "lack of prowness" of Tony Chan's Feng Shui knowledge.

Tony Chan has hired the world famous traditional/ classical Feng Shui master Mr. YYZ. Based on Tony's Feng Shui practices of burning real paper money, digging of "Feng Shui holes", burying of ritualistic objects and Tony's secret Feng Shui manuscript, MR. YYZ concludes that Tony is "a Feng Shui master who does not know Feng Shui".

This conclusion is exactly what Tony's lawyer wants--- that Tony Chan does not know much about Feng Shui and hence, it is his charm or Nina's love that the latter willed her estate to Tony.

Incidentially, Mr. YYZ is also the co-author of "The complete idiot guide to Feng Shui" book.

Chinachem Charity has solicited the service of a Daoist Feng Shui master Mr. Szeto. 80% of the Macau casino Feng Shui jobs were done by him. He also hosts a few occult and supernatural cable TV shows in Hong Kong. So Mr. Szeto has the "home field advantage" and name-recognition here.

Mr. Szeto did not talk low about Tony Chan's Feng Shui practices. Instead, he explains the hidden meanings and rationale of each ritual objects used by Tony. Obviously, Tony does not do traditional but ritualistic Feng Shui.

Mr. Szeto has stopped short of saying Tony is a Feng Shui genius. After all, who in Feng Shui history has made more money than Tony Chan? Even Mr. Szeto has made a lot less than him!

So, did these two Feng Shui expert witnesses tell the truth?

In my opinion, both did tell the truth BASED on their own special perspective or bias. A traditional-trained Feng Shui master will definitely testify that someone who practice ritualistic Feng Shui is NOT real (or traditional) Feng Shui. It is just weird that Tony Chan's lawyers had hired a traditional Feng Shui master instead of a ritualistic one.

This case illustrates the diversity of Feng Shui practices and problems in defining what is "real Feng Shui". I think the business of "expert Feng Shui witness" will be a short-lived one.

Which Feng Shui Credential Matters in Court?

Which one of the following Feng Shui credentials is most important to get the judge listen in court?

1. famous lineage
2. intelligent persons who have learned Feng Shui by self-study
3. years of experience doing Feng Shui
4. government registration/ certification

We can get the answer by observing the latest battle between the two Feng Shui expert witnesses in Nina Wang's $13 Billion estate lawsuit in Hong Kong.

Mr. Szeto, the expert Feng Shui witness of Chinachem charity, is registered with China government and has 30 years of experience in Feng Shui and have done 400+ related ritual ceremonies.

Mr. YYZ, the Feng Shui expert witness of Tony Chan (the secret lover of Nina Wang), reported that 90% of his Feng Shui knowledge is from books or self-study.

Do you think who the judge will listen to?

The judge had listened to Mr. Szeto's testimony. Szeto was interrogated by Chan's lawyer for copying info from a Taiwan religious website in Szeto's Feng Shui report.

Mr. YYZ had made some comments about Tony Chan's lack of real Feng Shui knowledge and got "cut short" when the judge found out his Feng Shui knowledge was learned from books.

I don't mean to slight either lineage-trained or self-studied Feng Shui professionals here-- there are cases of successful Feng Shui people trained under such conditions. But in court, it seems any certification that is non-governmental or not legally based-- are next to useless.

If you want to be a Feng Shui expert witness, you need to get some sort of government registration/ certification and not wasting your money for ANY certifications that are granted by individual/s or private organizations, including the ones granted by yours truly--- me.

A conversation on the Chinese character "hate"

Ken says:
Tell you something interesting--- the Chinese character "HATE" (恨 hèn) has the heart prefix and GEN suffix.

Ken says:
Heart prefix means heart or "thought", GEN suffix as in the Gen trigram, which means stagnation or stopped. When you hate, your heart stops.

Ken says:
When you kick away the heart prefix, then you stop hating! The word is no longer "hate".

Friend says:
Interesting.

Stopping the heart

Pretty much correct

Friend says:
Actually westerners talk about mind. Easterners talk about xin or heart. But they are talking about the same thing.

Ken says:
Yes.

Friend says:
In the end, it is neither.

Friend says:
Because mind is associated with brain. Heart is associated with feelings and the physical heart.

Friend says:
The thing that is discussed is actually a formless thing, almost like a ghost or water.

Friend says:
Water has no form until you put it in a container.

Friend says:
Same with conscious awareness.

Friend says:
Enlightenment simply means free-- not attached to the container.

Friend says:
That's why Lao Zi talks about behaving like water.

Ken says:
Bruce Lee liked to say something similar, "Open your mind, be water, be formless, be shapeless. If water is poured into a cup, it has the shape of a cup. If water is poured into a teapot, it has the shape of a teapot."

Bazi and Shopping

Get your attention?

On June 6, I went shopping for stationary and craft materials. I had shopped 4 stores and I had 50% off coupons for two of the stores.

In one store that no coupon can be used, I bought a color laser printer that normally is sold for US$499 for $100. It is not an obsolete model. Other local stores still sell the same model at $499.

The two stores that took 50% off coupon somehow gave me another 50% off at checkout. I did not know why (and not argue either, is it my charm?).

I got no deal from one store.

When I went home, I have checked the calendar-- it was a ji-mao day. Mao is wood-- my wealth element. So here is a potential "top secret" for maximizing your shopping dollars -- shop during your wealth day.

Best of all, you can blame it on me when your spouse yelling at all your shopping bags.
See you in the shopping malls!

NOTE: In case you don't know your wealth element, here are the formula:

Your Day-Master element / wealth element
----------------------------------------------------------------
Metal==> wood
Wood==> earth
Water==> fire
Fire==> metal
Earth==> water
