"Travelling horse" is a symbolic star employed extensively in Chinese metaphysics systems like Bazi, QMDJ, date-selection and the likes. Generally speaking, it means action, movement, acceleration, travelling, leaving town and etc..

TRAVELLING HORSE STAR CALCUATION

Birth year or day branch has shen, zi or chen, travelling horse is yin.
Birth year or day branch has yin, wu or xu, travelling horse is shen.
Birth year or day branch has hai, mao or wei, travelling horse is si.
Birth year or day branch has si, you or chou, travelling horse is hai.

For example, if you were born in the year of monkey (shen) and your chart has a yin branch or luck period brings a yin, you have a travelling horse. If your day branch has a mao, and your chart has a si branch or luck period brings a si, you have a travelling horse.

1. Chart with resource star (zheng-yin) and is favorable: Year and/or month pillar has resource star and DM (daymaster) also sits on a resource star; plus resource star is favorable for the chart-- DM is likely to inherit parental property OR parents take care of property acquisition for DM. Property purchasing timing likely in +/- peer luck year (bi-jian/ jie-cai year).

2. Weak DM with +/- peer star (Bi-jian/ Jie-cai) and unfavorable +/- power star (Zheng-guan/ Qi-sha): Chart with these conditions may purchase property due to peer or other pressure. DM is likely to borrow money or trying every possible means to buy a property.

3. Chart with unfavorable resource star (zheng-yin) and favorable +/- wealth star (Zheng-cai/ Pian-cai) to control resource star: Chart with these conditions may get unexpected help from "nobleman" or wealth luck to purchase property without any sweat or calculations.

4. Chart with resource (zheng-yin) and power star mutual nurturing: Year and/or month pillar has resource star with power star nurturing each other, day branch has +resource star-- DM (daymaster) may get property due to work benefit (employment/ career) or help from work.

In short, presence of resource star is a major factor in property purchase or ownership.
