Influences of unfavorable element in Bazi 八字忌神

In Bazi, unfavorable element or "annoying god" (ji-shen) refers to for an element that is detrimental to the person or "daymaster" (DM) of the natal chart owner.

Unfavorable element causes "imbalance" in a chart that may create misfortune, sickness and disasters.  One of the goals of Bazi reading is to find out one's unfavorable element and make preparations and remedies to mitigate its effects.

The negative influences of unfavorable element can be observed from the ten transformation stars or "10-gods" representing these elements:

1.  Zheng-cai or +wealth star is unfavorable:  low wealth luck and salary or income, work/ career problems; high work output or effort with low return.

2.  Pian-cai or -wealth star is unfavorable:  poor luck in non-regular income, likely to lose money in gambling, speculations, stock and investments

3.  Zheng-guan or +power star is unfavorable:  problem getting promotion in career or official position; unlikely to work for government;  hard to rise through the ranks even if working for government.

4.  Qi-sha (pian-guan) or -power star is unfavorable:  Qi-sha represents "mean people", back-stabbers, illegal groups; prone to getting involved with Mafia-type people or being bullied; feeling pressure or being prosecuted; also lacking performance or achievement in career.

5.  Zheng-yin or +resource star is unfavorable:  stands for low academic background and performance; +resource star also represents helpful mentor or nobleman;  this person lacks helpful mentor and must be self-reliant to achieve success.

6.  Pian-yin or -resource star is unfavorable:  This represents the senior relatives of chart owner are not healthy and is prone to being dragging down or implicated by them.  This also means lacking relationship or communications with family members.

7.  Jie-cai or +peer star is unfavorable:  This stands for disharmony with siblings.  This person appears to have many acquaintances but few real friends.  This also means s/he tends to overwork.

8.  Bi-jian or -peer star is unfavorable:  This stands for siblings are likely financially unstable and not helpful to this person.  It also means s/he is likely implicated or dragging down by his/her siblings.

9.  Shang-guan or +output star is unfavorable: This person is prone to quarrel, dispute, gossip or scandal and likely to have sex scandal.  +Output star also stands for mental fatigue and tough working conditions.

10.  Shi-shen or -output star is unfavorable:  This stands for depression due to no one recognize or hire one's talent.  This could also mean one's thought is out of reality or unrealistic.

Bazi: Attention drawing chart reading techniques

Note:  The following is an article that I have written for my Bazi/ 4P discussion groups.  I have removed the examples to save space here.

Many of us may have lots of 4P knowledge but do not know where to start when facing a 4P chart.  Here are 5 major techniques for uncovering a client's past and future major fortunes and misfortunes to create "shock value" (getting attention) when you read a chart.

Technique 1:  Looking for critical "element'"(stem or branch)

Many 4P charts have a critical element that could affect chart balance when it is clashed or combined away.  When this happens, DM is likely running into disaster or misfortune.

Technique 2:  Looking for unfavorable element

Some charts are difficult to determine the favorable element, but unfavorable one is usually much easier to find.  In standard charts, the strongest element usually is the unfavorable element.  Look for an annual luck (AL ) with the unfavorable element WITHIN the same unfavorable  luck period (10YL), DM is very likely suffering major setback or disaster due to the doubling of unfavorable elements.

Technique 3:  Looking for the years when favorable element is clashed/ combined away

The year when favorable element is clashed or combined, DM is likely to suffer misfortune or disaster because the favorable element cannot keep the chart balance.

Technique 4:  Looking for combinations-- if they result in transformation or not.

1.   When natal chart has combination that cannot transform to new element and runs into annual luck or period luck which brings in the transformation element, DM should have major changes in his life.  The auspiciousness of the change depends on whether the transformed element is favorable to the chart or not.  Sometimes this new addition or quantity of elements may even change the favorable element, qi-flow and balance of the chart.  These are all reasons of major changes of DM's luck and life situations.

2.  When a natal chart has potential 3-unities/ 3-meeting formation that short one element and this missing element is bought to the chart by AL or 10YL, DM's luck and life will see changes regardless if the combination is successful or not.  This is due to the structure of origin natal chart goes through major change in structure and qi-flow, similar to #1 above.

3.  Existing successful combination is "broken" by AL/ 10YL in a natal chart will likely change the structure, qi-flow, balance and even the un/favorable elements.  DM will likely have changes in luck and life situations.

Technique 5:  Looking for qi-circulation

Many natal charts have their own route/s of qi-circulation within a Bazi chart (Note: circulation route of a chart must be forward or backward based on nurturing relationship for same level element; upward or downward for different level element.  There is no diagonal movement).  When this qi-flow route/s is/are interrupted by AL or 10YL, DM is likely to have change of luck and life situations.

Bazi: Winners and Losers of 2018 Year of Dog- Part 2

This article is about what will happen to the "losers"  in terms of their Bazi natal chart and 2018 wu-xu earth-dog year.

Read the appendix of following link if you want to find out your natal chart info:
http://kenlaifengshui.blogspot.com/2016/10/10-birthdays-that-attract-helpful.html

THE "LOSERS"-- earth is UNFAVORABLE to natal chart
Wu-earth and xu-earth are both earth elements.  So 2018 wu-xu year is a year with strong earth energy.  If the unfavorable element or "ji-shen" ("annoying god") of your natal chart is earth,  2018 will be likely "bluer than blue" or not great for you.  Below is what earth luck means for different daymasters (DM).

1. Earth means peers  (bi-jian/ jie-cai) for Wu-earth and Ji-earth DM-- losing wealth, suffering backstabbing or being implicated to legal problems due to friends, siblings, partners, colleagues; health problems; also jinxing wife and father.
2. Earth means output/ talent  (shang-guan/ shi-shen) for Bing-fire and ding-fire DM-- illness, injury, problem with authority figures or legal problems for these DM.
3. Earth means wealth (zheng-cai/ pian-cai) for Jia-wood and Yi-wood DM-- with extra strong earth this year,  wood DMs may lose major wealth due to illness, being scammed or bad investment.  They also likely suffer illness and work problem.  Their father may get sick.  Men likely have marital problems or affairs.
4. Earth means power  (zheng-guan/ qi-sha) for Ren-water and Gui-water DM-- bad career luck, lawsuit, tainted reputation, injuries and sickness and problems with authority figures for these people.  For females, this could also mean bad romance.
5. Earth means resource (zheng-yin/ pian-yin) for Geng-metal and Xin-metal DM-- tainting reputation, work/contract/ housing problems and sickness.

Charts with chen-xu clash may more negative because earth clashing earth resulting in more unfavorable earth!  This could mean illness or accident.

For the same reason, charts with chou-xu-wei 3-penalties will be more negative.  It could be major illness (involving digestive system or kidney), accident or even death.

As usual, you need to look at the whole natal chart with luck periods to see the "whole picture" and not just look at the earth factor alone.  Hopefully you have one of those "Telfon charts" that never sticks with bad luck elements because somehow other elements in the chart or luck period will always turn the negative element into neutral or even positive.  For example, if your chart has gui-water combining wu-earth into fire and wu-fire also turning (combining) xu-earth into fire---  suddenly your chart has more fire and not the bad earth!

If unfortunately you are in this "losers" group, you may consult a Bazi reader and Feng Shui teacher for advice to mitigate the negative effect of earth.  Or you can take my courses below (click for details):

How to determine current year is good or bad for you?

In Bazi,  one's natal chart determines the "quality" of the chart.  But it is only part of the destiny pie.  A "good quality" chart still "sucks" if its luck periods do not bring in the elements that the chart needs to prosper.

There are two types of "luck period"-- the "10-years luck" (10YL) and "annual luck" (AL).  10YL is calculated in terms of one's birth month, which is different from person to person.  10YL provides the backdrops or "climate" of one's luck within that 10-years period.

Annual luck means one's overall luck for current year. In Bazi, everyone shares the same AL.  For example, current year 2017 is ding-you (fire-rooster) year.  Every person in the world is subject to the influences of the same annual luck of ding-you.  If fire and metal are favorable to one's chart, one will enjoy better luck within 2017.  If otherwise, one's luck will be below average.  The important thing about AL is:  Any fortune or misfortune will be triggered by AL because it brings the favorable or unfavorable elements to the chart.

In this post, we will keep it simple by focusing on how annual luck affects your luck:

1.  AL "fan-yin" or "fu-yin" 10YL:  "Fan-yin" means stem clashing stem and branch clashing branch between two pillars.  "Fu-yin" means two identical pillars.  Fan-yin and fu-yin usually are unfavorable to the daymaster (DM) and jinx his/her close relatives.
2.  Strong DM with AL brings in wealth, power and output (cai, guan and shi-shang) elements means favorable fortune for the year.  But if AL brings in resource and/ or peer (yin or bi-jian) elements, it means misfortune for the year.
3.  Weak DM with AL brings in resource and/ or peer (yin and bi-jian) elements means favorable fortune for the year.  But if AL brings in wealth, power and/ or output (cai, guan and shi-shang) elements, it means misfortune for the year.
4.  10YL is favorable with AL brings in zheng-cai (+wealth), zheng-guan (+power), zheng-yin (+resource), shi-shen (-output), and/ or bi-jian (-peer),  means current year fortune will be enhanced even further.  If AL brings in jie-cai (+peer), qi-sha (-power), pian-yin (-resource) and/ or shang-guan (+output), means current year fortune will be mixed with both good and bad fortune.
5.  10YL is unfavorable with AL brings in zheng-cai (+wealth), zheng-guan (+power), zheng-yin (+resource), shi-shen (-output), and/ or bi-jian (-peer),  means current year fortune will have minor fortunes but major mishaps.  If AL brings in jie-cai (+peer), qi-sha (-power), pian-yin (-resource) and/ or shang-guan (+output), means current year fortune will be very bad.
6.  AL stem/ branch combine with day pillar is generally considered good luck for the year.  AL fan-yin  (clashing stems and branches) or fu-yin (identical pillars) day-pillar is generally negative for DM because it affects DM and the spouse palace directly.  Usually this means something going on with marital relationship or personal sickness/ disaster.
7.  The stem and branch of AL are favorable elements ("yong-shen") of the natal chart would imply the year will be auspicious or fortunate.  If unfavorable ("ji-shen"), the year will be below average or unfortunate.

Anyway, the above is a rough guideline for making annual luck interpretations.  You still have to take the whole chart and both luck periods into consideration to make more accurate predictions.
