A tale of 2 trees or Bird Feng Shui

Note: The following was written on Nov 16, 2003

I have visited my friend Tim's office last Friday. His office is located in a well-maintained office park. Regional office of Nike is also in the same park.
The weather was great, 48F or 9C degree, considered warm by local standard. We are used to - 20C weather here.
Tim is a computer product distributor. Upon seeing him, he asked me to refer a church to him.

He wants to be spiritual suddenly.

Before I answer him, I was distracted by a strange scene outside his office.

There are two trees of identical height (around 12 ft. tall, same type) and 10 feet apart. All leaves were shed due to winter, so I could see what's on the tree.

One tree has a bird-feeder and lots of spilled seeds on the ground. Apparently birds nearby have an all-you-can-eat buffet there.

What was strange is that the "buffet" tree has almost no bird standing on it. Instead, the tree in front of Jim's office has a large number of birds standing on it, like Hitchcock's "Bird" movie.

I told Jim, "Don't waste time going to church, just sit and meditate under that tree." He stared at me as if I were a nut.
"Go and stand under that tree and feel the qi yourself."

Tim did and said he felt a stream of warm energy and air that felt like ionized.

Energy points like this one are what the Feng Shui masters hunting for burial grounds or building sites.

QMDJ DIVINATION

Note: The following blog was written on Sept. 21, 2005

Some people here show intense interest in QMDJ divination. Hence I post the following excerpt about
QMDJ divination from p.150 of my "Imperial QMDJ" course manual. The manual is over 400 pages. But my
focus is on "making things happen" and not on divination or waiting for things to happen.

Generally speaking, if you have problem handling imageries and associations with 4-Pillars, you can
pretty much forget about doing QMDJ divination.

===============================================
QMDJ DIVINATION
Besides choosing auspicious direction, QMDJ can also be applied to divination. The method itself is very
simple, but interpretation of result takes experience and good associative power or imagination.

Predictions and deductions are based any OR combinations of the followings:

* 9-stems characteristics and representations
* 8-gates’ 5-elements and characteristics
* 9-stars’ 5-elements, characteristics, shapes and representations
* 8-gods characteristics and imagery
* 9-palaces or bagua representations and characteristics

Besides the above, QMDJ also use specific plate or dimension to make prediction, for example, to predict
marital relationship, QMDJ uses yi-wood of heaven plate to represent woman and geng-metal to represent
man. Then check to see the controlling-nurturing relationship between the two to determine marital
blessing. For sickness, QMDJ uses Tian-rui star to represent sickness and checks which palace the star
lands on. Then each palace represents certain organs of the body and hence figuring out where the sickness
is. There are numerous unique principles like the ones used in these two examples. So it gets very
complicated to use QMDJ as a divination tool, especially when interactions between plates or
dimensions are also considered. There are simple and easier divination tools out there that we can use with
ease and cost less to learn.

The followings are some common divination topics and methods used in QMDJ:
*Business and economic forecasting
*Speculation
*Marriage and fertility
*Missing person and lost articles
*Sickness
*Exams
*Visitation
*Legal problems
*Election

Void

The concept of "void" is important both in FS and 4P.

For FS, void line primarily means the borderline between two mountains (90% of the case, there arevoids exist NOT in borderline, see my "Practical Door FS manual") and no "qi" comes into the house.

For 4P or Bazi, concept of void is derived from matching 10 stems to 12 branches-- 2 branches will have "no matching stem" and thus they are in "void".

When a 4P chart has void branches, depending on the location of the branch (year, month, day or hour pillar), it implies the lack of relationship between the day-master (DM) and the relative (family member) represented by the void branch. For example, if mother palace is in void, it means DM has little or no relationship with mother, separated from mother, mother died early and etc..

I'd a 4P client who was raised by her grandmother. She was depressed because she cannot figure out why her mother had left her and had been seeing a psychologist.

After I've pointed out there is a void branch in her mother palace and is predestined to have little or no relationship with her mother, she no longer needs to see the psychologist.

There are many applications and interpretations about void branches. Most are listed in my "4P Bootcamp" manaul.

Here is another way of playing with void branch.

First, find out the na-yin element of each pillar. For example Ding-hai's na-yin is earth (you can find a na-yin table from the free 4P file that I had given to this list long time ago).

For example, let's have an imaginary 4P:

Year: Ding-hai : na-yin = earth
Month: Jia-chen : na-yin = fire
Day: Yi-wei : na-yin = metal
Hour: gui-you : na-yin = metal

Day void branch = chen, si
Year void branch = wu, wei

From the above, we know month and day pillar are in void.

In this system, NOT all na-yin voids are negative.

When a metal vessel is empty (void), it makes noises. So this means fame (temples like to be built on metal void line, for fame).

When water is in void, it means clearness. So it means intelligence and righteousness.

When earth is in void, it collapse, so it is not good.

When fire is in void, wind blows in and become flaming and gives out light. This is consider as auspicious.

When wood is in void, it breaks.

Conventional interpretation for this example will be: lack of karma or relationship with mother (or sibling)- lack of karma or relationship with spouse (or no spouse).

With the na-yin interpretation: lack of karma or relationship with spouse though either one may be famous.

These deductions are not possible with strict 5-element or 10-transformation star ("10 gods") analyses.

There are other ways to look at void branches, like switching day and year void branch and switching day and hour void branches.

The concept of void is even more important in Buddhism. But that is a very long story!
