The ultimate blessing or karma credit one can get

Below is a link to an article found in Minneapolis Star Tribune about a poor mother who cannot afford to bury for her daughter next to her son who was gunned down in 2001:

According to the Chinese, the ultimate karma credit or merit one can get is to save a life.  But this is hard to come by for most people.

The next best karma credit one can get is to offer casket (coffin) to people who cannot afford one.  Karma credit like this one can fend off major misfortune or even death.

In Hong Kong, there are some people chasing after ambulances to see if they can offer free coffin.  They are hired by individuals who believe that they have impending misfortunes or serious sickness as predicted by astrology.  A major karma credit or merit like offering casket to the poor may mitigate or neutralize any perceived imminent misfortune.

WET FENG SHUI

Note: The following was written on Jan 31, 2003

Got your attention? Too bad, this is not what you think.

I saw a Discovery Channel program about burial at sea. Someone invented a new sea burial method-- mixing the ashes of deceased with cement to build an artificial coral reef and sink it into the sea. So the deceased will become sea creature habitat.

Then a pal in Singapore emailed me an ad for underwater pagoda burial.

Singapore is a tiny country with limited space for burial. Some marketers think of mixing ashes of the deceased with cement and mould it into cement blocks. Then treat the blocks with water- resistant compound and build it into a pagoda. The pagoda will be sunk into sea with an anchor and GPS.

So do you think your love ones will be happy to be wet 24x7?

I think westerners may have no problem of becoming an artificial coral reef after they died. For Chinese, this will be a tough sell.

According to yin Feng Shui, it is a big "no-no" for tombs that are flooded with water. Extreme bad-luck and strange diseases will befall to the descendants of the deceased.

However, in these cases where the deceased are cremated, the effect on descendants may not be as potent. The ashes are essentially carbon.

In any event, personally I don't like spending my eternity wet. I'll tell you a fun alternative in my next msg. So don't kill yourself yet until you have read my next msg.

(PS: The msg. had never been written because it was about space burial and the Challenger space shuttle accident was happened around that time)

Matching question... with prize?

Now I know why most list members here or elsewhere
prefer writing nothing.

It is more fun to watch some smart souls argue---
"My master has longer beard than yours!"

"Your master wets his feet when he peeves!"

"My master can piss across a bridge!"

"I cannot see it, so it is not real."

"It's magic, you idiot!"

I'll not take side on these arguments, but if you guys
want to duel it out, I'll be more than happy to be the
referee... you want a gun, sword or knife? My
recommendation is the Jedi Laser Sword (available at
Border Bookstore for US$49.95). No one will be killed
and it has high-tech sound and light effects.

Here is a fun question to think about while the smart
guys are thinking over if they should have a duel:

Chinese Metaphysics is also known as "The 5-arts"
(五術). The followings are the 5-arts:

Shan (山)-- literally means "mountain"
Yi (醫)-- literally means medicine
Ming (命)-- literally means destiny
Bu (卜)-- divination
Xiang (相)-- literally means appearance or looks

Feng Shui, 4P, ZWDS, QMDJ and the likes are part of
the 5-arts.

Can you match them to the respective 5-arts category?

Feng Shui belongs to _______
4P belongs to _______
ZWDS belongs to ___________
QMDJ belongs to __________
Martial Arts belongs to ___________
Talismans belongs to ________________
Meditation belongs to ___________
Food therapy belongs to __________
Daoist thought belongs to __________
Liu-ren belongs to __________________
