Grand Duke Remedy for Year 2011

The Year of  Rabbit will start on Spring Solstice (Li-chun) or Feb. 4.  According to Chinese custom, a new ruler of the year, or Grand Duke (Tai-sui) will come for each year. For 2011 or Xin-mao (metal-rabbit) year, the Grand Duke is General Fan Ning.

For 2011, Grand Duke sits on Mao mountain or the East (E2). If your house faces E2, it is considered "clashing Grand Duke". The residents may face accidents, obstacles or losing wealth. The cure is minimizing movements in the facing and put a Grand Duke talisman (see samples here) facing E2.

On the other hand, if your house sits on Mao mountain, it is considered having the support of Grand Duke. The tenants will do better in business ventures and competition. Historically speaking, countries at war with Grand Duke at their back are likely to win. But if your house or office does not sit on Mao mountain, you may use a Grand Duke Talisman at your back side as support (not recommended for people clashing GD for the current year).

In terms of individuals, people who have something to do with current year's Grand Duke are generally considered "violating Grand Duke". This "violation" can be distinguished in 3 ways:

1. People who have the same animal sign as the Grand Duke are considered "on duty" or "zhi 植" with Grand Duke. For 2011 , people who were born in rabbit years (1939, 1951, 1963, 1975, 1987, 1999) are "on duty" with Grand Duke. The symptoms will be minor sickness, emotionally imbalanced and minor misfortunes.

2. People whose animal sign clashes the Grand Duke are "chong" or clash Grand Duke. For 2010, people with rooster animal sign (born 1933, 1945, 1957, 1969, 1981, 1993) are clashing Grand Duke for the year. This is the most serious Grand Duke violation that may cause:
-- career changes (promotion or demotion)
-- moving
-- frequent travels
-- major monetary losses or bankruptcy
-- death in the family
-- major sickness/ surgery
-- accident or death

3. People who have animal sign that "penalizes" Grand Duke. For 2011, people who have rat (zi) animal sign (born 1924, 1936, 1948, 1960, 1972, 1984, 1996) penalize Grand Duke. Normally, penalizing is less severe than clashing Grand Duke. However, zi-mao penalty is one of the infamous "Three Penalties"in Bazi or 4-Pillars of Destiny.  This becomes more a Bazi problem than Grand Duke violation.  Zi-mao penalty normally jinxes the close relatives of the person involved.

One way to cure Grand Duke violation is to carry the Grand Duke talisman shown here. However, a mere reproduction of this talisman does not have the divine energy to fix the problem. A talisman needs to be "activated" or "benedicted" by a Daoist teacher or priest to be effective. A benediction alone easily costs US$60. The annual chart for 2011 is: (top is south, bottom is north)

Annual chart is based on Purple White Method which holds that 1,6, and 9 star locations are auspicious. 2-black sickness and 5-yellow disaster star locations are inauspicious.

OTHER PRECAUTIONS:

Grand Duke is at Mao mountain or E2-- avoid construction or digging.

Sui Po or year-breaker is at You mountain or W2-- avoid construction or digging.

San Sha or 3-killings are at Shen, You and Xu mountains or SW3, W2, NW1-- avoid construction or digging.

5-yellow disaster star at Zhen palace (E)- avoid construction or digging and movements. Grand Duke sits in Zhen palace with 5-yellow-- definitely be very careful when you do constructions and movement here (and avoid going East!)! Also if your house is facing Mao mountain (E2), you may want to put a Grand Duke Talisman there for protection (see my next upcoming message on how to get one).

5-tiger sha at Xu, Hai and Qian mountains or NW1, NW3, NW2-- avoid construction or digging and movements.

Yang nobleman sign for this year is Yin (tiger).  Yin nobleman is Wu (horse).

You need to do a good date-selection if you need to do construction in any of the above locations (mountains/ palace) or better doing it before end of the current year (tiger year).

If your front door is in Mao mountain where Grand Duke resides, you get a major problem with the normal metal fix for the annual 5-yellow star there (metal and wood battling).  Hire a competent Feng Shui practitioner to fix it for you.

People with rooster and rabbit zodiac sign should avoid seeing putting corpse in coffin or burial for this year.

Feng Shui Secrets

The adage "Blessed land is resided by blessed people" ( 福地福人居) is well-known in Feng Shui circle.  It implies "blessed land" is invariably resided by "blessed people".  "Blessed land" means land with good Feng Shui.  "Blessed people" refers to two categories of people-- virtuous people with good luck or people who are currently in good luck.

The same adage with the subject and object reversed becomes "Blessed people reside in blessed land" ( 福人居福地).  The meaning differs greatly.  Here "blessed people" means strictly virtuous people.  The land in "blessed land" becomes "blessed" because "blessed people" reside on it.  In other words, blessed people influence or nurture the Feng Shui of the land on which they reside.

Most of the time, Feng Shui people over-emphasize the influence of Feng Shui (land) over residents and neglect that residents can also influence Feng Shui of the land energetically (spiritually) and physically.

I have written before about when to fire your Feng Shui master (when someone is in good luck period).  Here you may add if someone is virtuous or with strong positive energy (if you can sense energy), s/he can pick a house without the help a Feng Shui master.

In reality, most of us are neither "virtuous" nor always in good luck.  So you may want to find a house with good Feng Shui to nurture you or enhance your personal qi (energy).  Alternatively, you may take my "Destiny and Luck Management course" to enhance your luck energy with 4P and Feng Shui techniques.  With higher luck energy, you may improve your house hunting luck and other luck in general.

Can we change our destiny and luck?

"Can we change our destiny and luck?"

The answer to this question will depend on who you ask. Motivational gurus may tell you to be a fire-walker to "rewire" your convoluted brain.  "Think positive" people may tell you to "think and get it!"  Religious people may tell you to "repent your sins" or do charity works.... All these may have a certain degree of validity in changing one's destiny and luck.

This question arouses my curiosity because of my 4P (Bazi) clients. They always ask if anything could be done to upcoming disasters/misfortunes as predicted by their 4P charts.

Traditional Bazi does not have much on misfortune or luck management tips other than advising you to sit tight, avoid taking risk/ traveling during a "low luck" period and "go all the way" when luck is on the upswing. 

Instead of waiting passively for our fate, are there any methods that can actively “manage” the inherent problems of our 4P charts and the ups and downs of our luck periods? This bring us back to the original question-- "Can we change our destiny and luck?" 

Yours truly me is not satisfied with the one-dimensional explanations of the motivational and positive-thinking gurus nor the morality-laden explanations of the religious folks. We have seen many motivated or "positive-minded" people failed and unmotivated people built "accidental empires".  We have also seen many benevolent people suffered or died tragically and mean people live to 100.  All these point to one aspect--- people have different "luck" or "yun" as in Chinese.  Luck may be independent or just loosely related to motivation/ intention and morality.

According to Merriam-Webster online dictionary, luck is "a force that brings good fortune or adversity" or " the events or circumstances that operate for or against an individual".  In other words, luck is also a form of energy. 

One of the biggest questions in Bazi is: do people with the same birthday and hour share the same destiny? According to statistics, there are 200 babies born every minute around the world.  Will the babies born in the same minute have the same life chances or destiny?  The answer is pretty obvious or we should have 200 President Obama or Bush.

The possible answer to this Bazi question of whether people with the same birth chart share the same destiny indirectly answers our question of "Can we change our destiny and luck?"  

I have researched this question for five years and isolated the factors giving rises to different destiny for people with the same birth charts.  These factors are also the ones that affect people's luck energy.  By manipulating factors that can affect these luck energies, we can change our luck and destiny to a certain extent.

"Will trade a kidney for plastic surgery"

 I come across a news report from China with the following heading:

"An extreme ugly Xu-zhou girl wants to sell a kidney for plastic surgery" ( 太醜徐州姑娘擬賣腎整容)

 " Miss Wu-qian (pseudonym) of Jian-su province, a 25 years old Xu-zhou girl, considers her face look  too ugly.  She decides going to Nanjing to sell a kidney for plastic surgery.  Hopefully the operation will change her destiny." (江蘇徐州25歲姑娘吳倩（化名）因自認為相貌過於醜陋，她決定到南京賣腎整容，希望藉此改變命運.)

Miss Wu has complained that she was lost to a pretty job applicant with a potential employer.  The employer even said in front of Wu to the other applicant, "Pretty! You are hired."

Miss Wu apparently does not know organ-selling is illegal in China.  Other than her extreme financing, her reasoning is quite common in both  western and eastern societies.  Improving your physical looks or attraction with bigger boobs, whiter teeth, nose, hips and the likes, will improve your chances in life to get the jobs desired or a rich spouse.  In other words, improve your luck or destiny.

There is some validity on better physical appearance helps attracting opportunities.  But it is not absolute.  There are pretty or handsome people who do not get what they want in life too.  Why?  Everyone is born with different luck cycles!    One may go no where when his/her luck is low.  An ugly person may still get whatever he wants if his luck is on the high side.

Take Miss Wu for example, assuming she got her plastic surgery done,  looks pretty and goes for a job interview.  She may still get rejected for reason like "she is too pretty" because employer's wife worry about potential affair.    This may happen if Miss Wu's current luck is low.

In other words, people should check their current luck cycle before investing in expensive plastic surgery, "think positive" seminars, spiritual retreats, sweat lodge ceremony... and the like.

How do people check their luck cycle?  You may consult a Bazi or 4-Pillars reader or take my Destiny Management courses.  If whatever you do now turns against you and everything goes the other way, chances are your current luck is low.  You should avoid making major decisions and purchases during a low luck period.  However, this is a passive approach to handle low luck.  An active approach is taking the Destiny Management courses.  It helps you to predict both your good and bad luck periods.  It also shows you how to avoid misfortune, enhance your luck and create opportunities with inexpensive items and everyday objects.
