MODERN PHARAOHS AND FENG SHUI (or when to dump stocks)

Note: The following was written on Nov., 2002

Is this about yin Feng Shui or another get-rich-quick scheme? No, but it could become your next get-poorer-quick fiasco.

Most of us know that ancient Egyptian Pharaohs had built huge pyramids and grand monuments to memorialize their reigns and feats at huge expenses to their people and treasury.

From watching History Channel episodes about the Pharaohs, we also learn that later Pharaohs, who were poorer but craving for the same glory, simply erased the names of earlier Pharaohs and put their names on the monuments.

It’s all about egos.
Modern Pharaohs do not build tombs but grandeur office buildings. They are the CEOs and executives of big corporations.
The followings are excerpts of a report from Star Tribune:

Edifice wrecks: The link between shiny new HQs and falling stocks
Eric Wieffering, Star Tribune
Published Nov. 17, 2002
Some investors pore over earnings projections and other traditional yardsticks to determine whether it's time to dump a stock. Others rely on complex charts or arcane models. Longtime amateur investor Graeme Thickins uses a more basic indicator: Does the company plan to move into or build a new headquarters?
Call it the edifice complex or the headquarters hex. There is an uncanny link between the unveiling of a glorious new facility and a nosedive in a company's fortunes.
---------
In the Twin Cities, ADC Telecommunications is held up as the most glaring example. Business was booming when the communications equipment maker bought the land and began construction on a $100 million Eden Prairie campus. Since moving in 2001, however, the company has bid goodbye to half its revenue and more than half its employees. Its stock price has shriveled to under $2 from a 2000 peak of more than $40.
-----------
The executive compulsion to memorialize their achievements in bricks and mortar is hardly new and has been seen nationwide. Chrysler had long since recovered from its early '80s brush with death and was headed toward a new financial crisis in the early '90s as the company moved into a new Michigan headquarters that was sometimes dubbed "Iacocca's mausoleum."

Will I get my millionaire mentor?

We see the words "millionaire" and "mentor" a lot lately. So I did a "google" search on "millionaire mentorship program". I'm amazed by the varieties of "flavors" out there. But most are associated with real estate investment and charge from US$1500- 15,000 for the program. I stumbled into this site which rates popular real estate "gurus" and their seminars/courses. http://www.johntreed.com/rateseminars.html

You may want to check out the article "The real estate B.S. artist detection checklist". If we change the words "real estate" into "Chinese Metaphysics," at least half of the list are just applicable.
I think the most interesting article on this site is the analysis on Robert T. Kiyosaki’ s book "Rich Dad, Poor Dad". Like everyone else, I want to know the real identity of Kiyosaki's "Rich Dad".

OK, how do we find out if we have mentor luck? In BaZi (4P), Tian-yi Nobleman represents mentor luck or helpful people. Here is the formula to find out:

If the heavenly stem of your day pillar is:
Jia, your day/month/hour pillar's earthly branches has/ have chou/ wei;
Chou/ wei is your Tian-yi.
Yi, zi/shen
Bing, hai/you
Ding, hai/you
Wu, chou/wei
Ji, zi/shen
Geng, chou/wei
Xin, wu/yin
Ren, mao/si
Gui, mao/si

Tian-yi Nobleman that is in the day pillar is more powerful in terms of predictive power.

However, women with more than 2 Tian-yi Nobleman could be prostitute OR very sociable.

People with Tian-yi Nobleman are sociable, have good mentor luck and likely become rich outside their hometown.

Born a day after July 4th and died a day before July 4th

Note: The following was written on July 2004
here was a young man died of a firework accident two days before his 18th birthday in a small town here. His 4P are as follows:

YEAR: BING-YIN (void)
MONTH: JIA-WU
DAY: GENG-XU
HOUR: XIN-SI (my estimation)

10 year luck started at 1987:
AGE 1-10 YI-WEI
AGE 11-20 BING-SHEN
CURRENT ANNUAL PILLAR: JIA-SHEN
CURRENT MONTH PILLAR: GENG-WU
DAY PILLAR WHEN KILLED: JIA-SHEN
(July 4th, 2004)
The accident happened in July 3 (Gui-wei day) around 10 pm and the victim died on July 4 (Jia-shen day), 2:10am.

Yesterday, this geng young man was helping his father prepare for today's (July 4th) firework show. A mortar firework was ignited unexpectedly and caused fatal head injury to him.

This is a weak geng-metal day-master. The chart is not too complicated to decipher.
Could you explain the accident?

4P of an abduction victim

Note: The following was written on July 6, 2004

I watch "Court TV" and saw the tombstone of an abduction victim:
Born: girl, Jan. 20, 1975, hour unknown Date died: unknown, just know Geng-shen year4 Pillars:

Year: Jia-yin
Month: Ding-chou
Day: Bing-yin
Hour: not known
Year died: Geng-shen

10 yr. luck (started at age 5)
1979 bing-zi
1989 yi-hai

The 6 year old victim went to church service with her mom and disappeared after telling her mom that she went to restroom.

Her body was found in a dumpster 3 miles from the church the next day. Victim was strangulated, smashed in the face and sexually assaulted.

Can you explain this death? The answer almost jumps out from the data shown above.

A Chinese peasant and a U.S. president

This is an amazing story of fate and destiny that I have read from a Chinese newspaper . Even though I forgot the exact names and dates in the story, but it will not affect the main theme.

In late seventies, a Chinese peasant, Farmer Li discovered the tomb of the first emperor of China, Emperor Chin, who had unified China and built the Great Wall. This peasant hauled some of the relics that he had dug up and walked for two hours to the provincial Archeology Department.

The head of the department was stunned by the finding and tried to offer a reward to this peasant.

All he could find was his monthly salary of around $40 (about US$ 5 ).

The tomb of the first emperor of China, with thousands of terracotta soldiers guarding the tomb, is regarded as the 8th wonder of the world. The Chinese has built a museum around the tomb.

The peasant is an honest farmer, he dared not to pocket the reward money himself. So he had turned over the money to his commune leader.

The leader had left him 75 cents, or about a dime (US$ 0.10).

The person who had discovered the 8th wonder of the world was rewarded with a dime.

This poor peasant continued to live in his straw hut.

Twenty some years later, President Clinton visited the tomb in 1998.

President Clinton was amazed by the tomb's collections. Then he asked, "Can I see the person who had discovered this tomb?"

The Chinese officials were baffled. Why on earth someone wanted to see an old peasant? They
sent people to the village where the peasant lived.

The peasant, Farmer Li, in his seventies, still lived in his straw hut.

When President Clinton saw the peasant, he said, "Sir, can I have your autograph?"

The peasant only drew three circles on Clinton's autograph book.

"Wow! Amazing! You have discovered this tomb by drawing three circles. I should learn drawing circles more often." Clinton exclaimed.

In reality, this peasant was an illiterate. It is a local custom to draw three circles when one does not know how to sign.

The Chinese government suddenly realizes the cultural value of this peasant. They had appointed a famous calligrapher to teach him how to autograph.

After two months, the old peasant can sign his name beautifully like a calligrapher.

======================
Postscript: I have visited Xian in 2007 and to the terracotta tomb. There many "Farmer Li" there signing for money! They all claim to be the cousins or co-discoverers of the tomb.

“I want to go to school”

Note: This was written on Nov 28, 2003

Many of us in the United States are probably enjoying big Thanksgiving feasts today. Amid our material abundance, I hope the following story will bring inspiration to our life. Here are the links to the same story with different perspective:
This story reminds me of Farmer Li, the farmer who had discovered the tomb of the first emperor of China. Farmer Li had remained almost anonymous and poor until President Clinton met him. Li did not do anything to make thing "happen" and just let fate took over.
Ma Yan, on the other hand, does not quit or surrender to fate and keep fighting. Things changed when she met her "helpful person" from an unlikely source.
Some people in Ma Yan's village are mad at the French assistance. They all ask, "Why Ma Yan and not me? I'm just as poor. She is just lucky."
We may try to explain Ma Yan's good fortune as fate, destiny or even good Feng Shui, that she may sleep in "Wen Chang" (academic) position of her home.
Ma's teacher explains, "It could be luck partially. But given the same opportunity to others, nothing would have happened since most children here do not write diary. Ma Yan has been writing diary since grade 4. She is also persistent and strong-willed to chase after her simple dream of going to school."
Can you imagine how many destinies have been changed by Ma Yan's diary-- at least 16 in her own village alone, not to mention the inspiration that she give to other girls in China for years to come.
A few months ago I saw a report on CNN TV news that a New York cab driver, who is an immigrant from India, donates all his income and tips to run a girl school in India. He does that because, like other countries, girls are more likely left without schooling, become illiterate mothers and perpetuate the same fate to their daughters.
