Bazi Characteristics of Depression and Suicide

What Bazi characteristics are found in people who are prone to depression, mental illness and suicide?  One major characteristic is wood element in one's Bazi chart is over-controlled, over-nurtured, over-drained or overwhelmed.  Wood element represents the nervous system of a person.  The nervous system and mental ability of a person will be affected when some excessive actions happened to the wood element of his Bazi chart.

Below are Bazi variables that affect one's tendency to be suicidal and depressive:

1. Weak daymaster (DM) with strong output and/ or power stars (Shi-shen/ Shang-guan and Zheng-guan/ qi-sha)
-- Daymaster with this condition is likely physically weak, lacking confidence and strong will.  Strong output stars means DM thinks too much.  Strong power stars also stand for pressure from government, superior or pressure to succeed in something (also men problems for women).

When a chart has both strong output and power stars,  DM may suffer cognitive dissonance or conflicting emotion.  S/he looks elegant and traditional externally, but inside s/he is wild and dislike restrictions.  When running into setback, s/he is likely feeling depressed. This condition is quite common,  like when a weak DM has one or two output and/or power stars in the natal chart and luck periods bring in two or more similar stars.  This DM may either go crazy or depressive and is easily agitated to do the unthinkable.

2. Chart with strong metal chopping wood
-- DM with weak Jia or Yi-wood usually has weak mental capacity to handle complicated life events.  If the weak wood is further controlled by strong mental, DM is prone to mental illness and even suicide.

3. Chart with strong fire burning wood
--Wood produces fire.  If a DM runs into strong fire luck periods that drains wood, it may cause over-thinking and induces headache and nervous system related illness.  Some minor irritations or mishaps may drive DM into attempted suicide.

4. Chart with strong water floating wood
-- Water nurtures wood.  But too much water will float and rot wood, especially if there is little or no sunshine (fire) providing warmth and strong earth to anchor it.  DM with "strong water floating wood" in his chart is likely facing numerous ups and downs in life.  If such conditions last for extended periods, DM's mental condition will deteriorate and prone to mental depression.

5. Chart with strong earth cracking wood
-- Wood controls earth.  But too much or strong earth can crack wood.  When wood "cracks" in a chart, it affects the mental conditions of DM.  DM may feel too much pressure and prone to mental illness and suicide.

When you read chart with any of the above conditions, you should advice the DM to see a psychologist or at the least, tell him/ her "don't think too much" and "everything will workout itself one way or another".

With the prevalence of teen suicides in recent years, school counselors could use this Bazi knowledge to identify students with potential depression and suicidal tendency and take preventive measures.

Chart with one overwhelmingly strong or weak element usually signals major illness or negative condition in life.  To know more:

Easy Date-Selection for Moving

The level of Feng Shui auspiciousness and inauspiciousness for the residents of a house is affected by the move-in date.

The table below shows the relationship between move-in date-selection and Feng Shui effect.

Below is a quick and easy way to do a date-selection for your move-in date of your new or rental house.  It is based on the door-facing direction of your new housing.  If you do not understand the terms below, simply read the Appendix below for a link to convert western dates to Chinese dates.

DATE-SELECTION FOR MOVING
Click table to enlarge text

Move-in date/time is the time you start moving into the new house.  You do not need to finish moving within that hour.

You may have problem fulfilling the requirements of the above table.  An acceptable alternative is that your move-in date should at least has an auspicious day and hour.  The day and hour should not clash the animal sign of the owner and Grand Duke (2017 Grand Duke sign is you-rooster).  Please note that a Chinese hour is equivalent to 2 western hours.

To learn more about date-selection, you may want to take:
“Practical Date-Selection Methods (incl. XKDG) w/ 12 hr. video

APPENDIX: how to find Chinese version of your move-in date and time

1.  Log into http://bazi-calculator.com/
2.  Type in your move-in date and hour in the "Birth Chart" section.  For example:  Feb. 23, 2017; 9:20 am.
3.  Click "Calculate" button
4.  Ignore the "Date to Compare" section.  Just look at the "Birth Chart" section.
5.  Check the second row of the chart from right to left-- it shows the year, month, day and hour in Chinese terms listed in above table.  For our example of Feb. 23, 2017; 9:20 am,  year= You (rooster), month= Yin (tiger), day= Si (snake) and hour= Si (snake).

Erotic cat stories?

 VALENTINE CAT

"Bagel" was adopted by Mr. Chiang in Taiwan a few months ago.   She is a playful cat and likes to wake up her owner in the middle of the night to clean her litter box after she has peeved.  Obviously, Bagel is a cleanliness freak.

A few days ago at Valentine day,  Mr. Chiang has discovered the heart-shape pattern in Bagel's front legs when she is in the upright sitting position.  He has posted the picture on social media and it becomes viral.

WILL WORK FOR CAT FOOD

"Wang-wang"  and "Sugar" are "shop cats" in Tai-Po, Hong Kong.  They greet customers in the shop and are popular in the area.  Their owner wants the cats to be self-supportive.  He posts this "price list" for touching, kissing , hugging and taking photo with the cats.  The prices here are in Hong Kong dollars  (US$1 = HK$7.75)

Someone has posted this price list to social media.  It has generated many comments.  Some netizens said the menu items are limited.  These cats can expand their service to escort, over-night services, dating and the likes.  One comments that fortunately that there is no charge for looking at the cats.

SUGAR DADDY WANTED BY A YOUNG AND GORGEOUS FEMALE

The owner of this female cat wants someone else to take over her in Hong Kong.  It seems this owner is not well educated in Chinese language.  The Chinese sign shows "Sugar Daddy Wanted" in the photo above.

The Chinese characters "包養" (bao-yang) means "keeping a mistress" or "sugar daddy" in English.   S/he should have used the verb "收養" (shou-yang) for "adoption".

Probably being a sugar daddy for a cat is much easier and happier than the "real thing".  A cat may complain a little or peeve on your bed, but will never ask for a diamond ring or LV handbag.

How come the richest people are not Feng Shui masters? Part II

(Continue from previous article)
Classic Feng Shui Model

Returning to the original questions:

"What is Feng Shui for?"
Feng Shui is simply the knowledge of site selection and harmonious living and interaction between inhabitants and their natural environment.  Enhancing luck, wealth and etc. are NOT the original objectives of Feng Shui.  Increases in wealth and prosperity are "by-products" of stable living environment that shields its residents from  the elements and provides steady supply of living essentials like water and vegetation.  Feng Shui is similar to the modern "Human Geography"-- " the study of the interaction between human beings and their environment in particular places and across spatial areas." (Dictionary.com)

How much "weight" or importance is Feng Shui in one's destiny?

According to Yi-jing, the five most important determinants of an individual's destiny are:
  1. Fate (一命, ming)-- what one was born with, hard to change
  2. Luck (二运, luck)-- what one was born with with limited degree of flexibility
  3. Feng Shui  (三风水)-- one's living and social environment
  4. Accumulation of good deeds (四积阴德, yin-de)
  5. Formal Study (五读书)-- go to school

2017 Auspicious Wealth Symbols
From the above list, you can see luck and fate have more influence than Feng Shui.  More often than not, I found people with bad luck also have bad Feng Shui synchronized with it.

This is easy to explain as when one is in good luck, one will have strong energy or qi-field that can block off or reduce the effect of negative energy caused by variables like Feng Shui or Bazi.   One's energy will be weaken during a bad luck period.  Existing negative forces, including spiritual ones, can take advantage of the weaken state of the individual and attack.  This is why sometimes we feel "Blessing does not come in multiples and misfortune does not come alone".

"Could Feng Shui help us during our bad luck periods?"
It all depends on the nature of your "bad luck"-- whether it is karma-related or simply "system design" (destiny).  Assuming it is not karma-related, then Feng Shui at least keeps you physically healthy or "sane".

"If our luck periods are good, we don't need Feng Shui.  Isn't this correct?
Yes, this is my little secret with you.  However, people are likely to think their good luck lasts forever and are caught unprepared when bad luck strikes.

"So, if this is the case, then why do we bother with Feng Shui at all?" "If our luck periods are good, we don't need Feng Shui.  Isn't this correct?
You still need Feng Shui because no one has good luck periods forever.  No place has good Feng Shui forever too.

“If a client is in bad wealth luck period and requests wealth enhancement, the practitioner cannot do much with Feng Shui.”  Why?
To understand this statement, you need to know what causes "bad wealth luck" in Bazi.  It is likely either problem of strong peer stars (bi-jie) for strong daymaster or strong wealth stars (cai) for weak daymaster.  Enhancing wealth during a bad wealth luck period may cause more losses.

How come the richest people are not Feng Shui masters? Part I

After reading my previous article on "Why check Bazi before doing Feng Shui?",  a student of mine asks the questions below:

"If client is in bad wealth luck period and requests wealth enhancement, the practitioner cannot do much with Feng Shui."

  • But then I ask myself, what is Feng Shui for?
  • Isn't it to help us during our bad luck periods?
  • If our luck periods are good, we don't need Feng Shui. Isn't this correct?
  • So, if this is the case, then why do we bother with Feng Shui at all?
  • Probably I'm missing something here...

Don't throw away your Feng Shui books yet.

I will ask more questions to answer your questions -- to stimulate your intellectual growth.

FENG SHUI AND WEALTH CORRELATION
Donald Trump had hired Feng Shui Master Pun-yin in the design of his Trump Tower in 1995.  Why it is Donald Trump and not Master Pun-yin becoming ultra-rich and President?

Feng Shui was originated in China.  It is more appropriate to look at the ultra-rich in China, Taiwan and Hong Kong.

Jack Ma

Jack Ma, the CEO of Alibaba Group is known to at least respect and follow Feng Shui practices.  Lee Ka Shing, the real estate tycoon of Hong Kong is well-known for utilizing Feng Shui to enhance his prosperity.  Terry Gou, Taiwanese tycoon, the CEO of Foxconn is also known for dedication to Feng Shui practices down to his ancestral tombs.

I cannot find any ultra-rich Feng Shui masters in these regions (with the exception of Tony Chan who had amassed a huge fortune using "special relationship" with his female client).  Why?

Therefore we can see there may be a correlation between people who hire Feng Shui masters and become richer but no correlation between Feng Shui masters and their wealth level.

Take me for example--  I know 20+ Feng Shui techniques, from "water dragon", "5-ghosts carry money" to "think and get rich" and 100+ Daoist ritual techniques for attaining or enhancing wealth luck.  I should be very rich but not.  Why?

UNIVERSAL RULE OF WEALTH AND BLESSING
A popular belief in wealth and blessing in China is:  the amount of wealth and blessing of an individual is predetermined.  Only under rare circumstance, like extreme hard work and good deeds performed, the predetermined amount may be altered for the individual.

When you have consumed or used up your predetermined wealth and blessing-- you will die even if you have not reached your life-expectancy date.  This is why I do not encourage people to push wealth enhancement because it could also mean they may cut short their life expectancy unknowingly.

How do you find out your predetermined amount?  The exact amount is hard to determined but a rough sketch can be deduced from checking the wealth elements in one's Bazi chart.

Another rule of predetermined wealth is one rarely gets all of what one entitled-- one must at least show some efforts.  For example, if your predetermined amount is $10M,  you may at most get 60- 70% of the allocated amount.  To get more, you may need to do good deeds, persistent hard work and use metaphysical methods like Feng Shui, QMDJ and Bazi.  But one rarely gets more than the predetermined amount.

Therefore, Feng Shui definitely can help in wealth attainment.  But this is a narrow application of Feng Shui.  Feng Shui serves more functions than just enhancing your wealth luck.

Why check Bazi before doing Feng Shui?

We have a saying in this business-- "A Bazi reader can get by without Feng Shui knowledge.  But a Feng Shui practitioner must know Bazi."

Feng Shui practitioners need Bazi knowledge because:

1.  Matching clients to practitioner himself
--  to make sure client's Bazi chart does not clash the practitioner's chart.  This is to ensure a happy and smooth working relationship  (also to filter out "difficult" clients).
2.  Securing results
-- by checking the client's current luck information on various aspects of life, the practitioner can pinpoint what can be done and what cannot be done.  If client is in bad wealth luck period and requests wealth enhancement, the practitioner cannot do much with Feng Shui.
3.  Doing Feng Shui enhancements and remedies
--  it is more effective to design Feng Shui enhancements (like wealth/career formation) and remedies (like sleeping direction)  when the energy-preference (favorable elements) of client's Bazi chart is decoded.
4.  Date-selection
--  Application of Feng Shui enhancements and remedies will be more effective when date-selection is made with consideration of client's Bazi.

Many schools offer endless "modules" of Bazi or 4P courses that many Feng Shui practitioners may not have the time or resource to take.

While I taught a Feng Shui seminar in Los Angels in 2003, a student had asked me if I could create a comprehensive Bazi course for Feng Shui practitioners.   "4-Pillars Bootcamp" was created in 2005 and remains a top seller for me.

House Feng Shui that makes you poor

If your financial situation gets tough and tougher and the problem is not due to your destiny or natal chart, it could possibly be the Feng Shui of your house.

Below are some possible reasons that you are poor:

1.  Main door and back door (or window) form a straight line with nothing in between
-- Wealth energy and auspicious qi flow from the main door and leave your house through the back door or window. Residents do not get any benefit.

2.  Main door faces the main door of another house
-- If the energy of your door is weaker or overcome by the opposing door, your luck will tank.

3.  Bathroom/ toilet door faces kitchen door
-- clean water of the kitchen clashing "dirty" toilet water:  bad for health and wealth luck.

4.  Living in basement for extended periods
--  "Underground" living affects the residents psychologically and emotionally.  It is bad for relationship and wealth luck

5.  Right side neighbor is much higher than your house
-- This is called "white tiger overwhelms green dragon"白虎压青龙.  White tiger stands for "mean people" and lawsuits.  This stands for sickness, bad wealth luck, backstabbing and legal problems for the residents (not to mention a overwhelming wife!). This situation also applies to a house with much bigger right side or right side has tall power tower, flyover or chimneys.

6.  Missing corner in northwest side of the house
-- Northwest side stands for career luck which affects the male residents more.  Missing corner in northeast also has similar effects.

7.  Main door facing stairway or elevator
-- This cause unstable flow of energy affecting wealth luck or causing difficulties in creating wealth.

8.  Too many doors or corridors in the living room
--  Living room is the "inner ming-tang" of the house representing wealth potential (especially for apartments).  Too many corridors or doors in the living room will leak the wealth energy or cannot accumulate qi.

9.  Cracks on the walls
-- If there are cracks in the back wall of bed or living room, this condition is equivalent to damages in "supporting mountain" and affecting wealth luck.

10.  Water tap or faucet dripping/ leaking or pointing to outside
--  Water stands for wealth in Feng Shui.  When the water tap or faucet leaks water in a house, it symbolizes leak wealth for the residents.  If the tap points to outside of house, it also implies water flowing outside the house.
